Yeaa think we have different definitions for playable. The delay is way to long to use the tv as a dedicated screen when mirroring and playing game O.o.
This is the SECOND video I watched with Brett on this subject and for the second time, my screens look NOTHING AT ALL like what's in the video. When I tap the HOME app I get a screen that is entitled HOME but the only tappable items are "Set up Household Contacts", "Invite home member", "Link Netflix", "Settings", a Microphone icon, a Blue Home icon (which goes nowhere) and another icon which takes me to a "Discover" screen (which makes no sense). All of this seems to be about using voice commands (no interest here) and not one thing about casting my screen to the TV!
Those menu options do not exist on my chromecast. I can cast spotify, but as in video it only shows the ambient photos, nothing else. There is a mirror cast but it does nothing when clicked
Thx you. I haven't used my Chromecast in long time and the app setting has changed and I couldn't find the mirroring button. You video helped me alot. Thx again sir!
so many issues with CC , first off the thing that really annoys me is that if you open google play music and you are playing music stored on your phone and you hit the cast button from within the google play music app it does not work , you need to have uploaded the music to the cloud for it to cast to other devices you have to either go into the home app or use the cast button in the quick setting menu to cast the audio but it should just work from the cast button in the play music app it should just work also when i first got my CC 2nd gen i was able to cast to it from a phone directly without the need of any wifi network ,i think i needed a second android device to set it up but then i could cast directly to the CC with no wifi network , i had bought a CC 2nd gen for a parent that is tech illiterate and has only a cell phone and no wifi network and i had it working so they could cast tot heir TV from the phone , then Google came along and broke it and now it doesn't work anymore ,they need to give us back this functionality and make i easier so that we do not need 2 android devices to set it up
Yes, as long as your phone can play it most likely it will work. My recomendation would also be to set up a Plex server so you can cast the videos to your phone instead of mirroring your screen.
I use casting and screen mirroring from Google home with power saving on and don't have any problems. The only problem is streaming services block the video from playing through screen mirroring. Smart view doesn't work with Chromecast since early 2021. I think it has to do with Smart view not blocking copyright videos. Plus if you have an ad blocker on your phone and then screen mirroring the program on your large screen or recorder that would be breaking the copyright laws apparently even if you just trying to watch on a larger screen without ads interrupting.
I have a shed on a wooded lot I have converted into a cabin, I do not have internet service but I do have my phone. Can I still use this to watch tv from the phone or is there any other way possible? Thanks!

Thanks for this informed video. Using the Google Home app, my Samsung galaxy note 8 will do everything except mirror my device through the Chrome Cast Ultra. It doesn't even work wirh smartview. It can see the device on the same network in both apps but when i click on it, it doesn't connect. Hopefully this will be sorted out with a firmware update for the Note 8...please?? Btw, the Google Home app works just fine with my Samsung galaxy tab S2.
How does the Chromecast deal with playing high quality videos directly from my phone's media library and not from RUclips or Netflix? I don't have a Chromecast and tried doing that by mirroring my phone's screen with the TV via an app but there's a bit of an annoying stutter and also the quality suffers from that, so I want to know if buying a Chromecast would solve that
will this screen mirroring work with a HD fire 10 (2019 editon) that does not support miracast? as long as i have the google home app and the chromecast connected in the same wifi it should work correct?

We used my Galaxy S7 to steam Ace Attorney to our Chromecast. It worked...mostly....But my phone would get REALLY hot, and I would always have to make sure fast charging was turned off.
