Well, when it comes to wifi almost any android phone does support wifi even the cheapest android phone has wifi these days. After doing some heavy research I even used phones from brands like Sony, Samsung, Apple and LG on a Sony Bravia TV. It's not a Smart TV as many people call it "Android" in other words. It's a simple yet 4K and 3D tv. It really doesn't matter if yours is 4k or not since it's just a feature.
After getting lots of questions about "No wifi" I had to make another video showing that it's not necessary to have an internet connection. Although it'd be good to have a hot-spot running in the background and make sure the TV is connected to it. It doesn't need to be connected to the internet.

Mirracast utilizes the peer-to-peer technology, WiFi Direct very similar to Bluetooth. It doesn’t need a working WiFi connection. It is NOT a hotspot. Wifi Direct works in the same manner as Bluetooth however with several differences. WiFi Direct is much faster than Bluetooth and allows simultaneous connections between multiple devices. This gives you the ability to watch HD films and game with others; not something Bluetooth could handle due to its slow speeds. It’s a security risk if you’re using it for file transfers but that can be resolved by using a stronger encryption.

The form of casting your using always uses Wi-Fi or hotspot some sort of internet connection that's why they are telling you you are giving false information if it's wireless there's always going to be internet involved unless you're plugging something into your phone and then plugging it into your TV then it's always going to use internet

Don't have miracast, thought it required wifi? All screen mirroring aps ask for wifi.
wrong. miracast is like bluetooth. wikipedia it. microsoft wireless display adaptor for instance doesnt use wifi. That's why i use it when I'm traveling for work, i dont have to ask for wifi password to stream directly from my laptop

This only works with series 8 or higher smart TVs. You have to buy a Screen Beam 2 mini to do this on any lower series smart TV. End of discussion.

At least a hotspot is guaranteed to be available for use right? The point is he didn't use the wifi network (& as mentioned, no internet connection whatsoever at the end), something not everyone has. That much was given the moment he spoke about the Bravia smart TV & Miracast.
Like, you definitely need bluetooth to send a file to another phone, but its not something you gotta go get part & parcel of a separate network device to be a mediator between either device. Its inbuilt, its convenient & an alternative to an extent for file sharing.

This might work without WiFi if your TV was once connected to the internet. I was doing fine until I factory reset my TV. Now it won't do casting at all.

Before you bash this guy, i encourage you to read articles about WIFI vs WIFI DIRECT.
Wi-Fi Direct devices connect directly to each other rather than through a wireless router. Think of it as bluetooth on steroids.
Some new 4k tv's especially released in late 2018 to 2019 have this. TESTED IT on a samsung curved tv RU7300 series and worked like a charm.

He was using wifi direct ppl. Which doesn't use internet. It's for the soul purpose of connecting to another device without the need of wifi connection. Basically if you want to share pics, videos or files with another device but dont have internet this is an alternative. And yes it's like bluetooth, but much faster.

Got hdmi cable plugged into both phone and TV but nothing on TV end... so personal at stand still so if one can do it without cables more power to them the cable was $25 usd on sale I am still looking to figure this out cause it would save my face into a phone...

yes. a type c HDMI adapter. plug your adapter into your phone and plug a USB cable into the other side of the adapter and plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB on the back of your TV. and you are set. And you don't need any wifi, or hotstop.

I didn't even watch the whole video but read a couple comments. Just wanted to say that for a galaxy s10 paired with a roku you can screen share all day without wifi. You don't have to create a fake network or Hotspot that both devices are connected to at the same time either. I haven't tried to screen share probably in a couple years but due to ISP issues I tried it a couple days ago first trying to connect both devices to the same wifi without internet so they would register but ended up with both my TV and phones wifi turned off. Also the last time I tried this I wasn't able to get full screen aspect ratio on my TV but this time I was able to change the settings and it works flawlessly. It even eliminates the home icon bars at the very bottom which used to always get in my nerves. If this is old information sorry for wasting your time but I thought I would mention it because it is a game changer for me. I live full time in my RV due to work and as you can imagine not every RV park has the best wifi. Half the time it fucks with me and ends up being less than 1mbps. Now I just need to figure out a good company to go with so I can get back into gaming on my #PCMASTERRACE. Anyways, this has nothing to do with anything so I will leave it at that. 👍

Samsungs use Miracast which he actually goes over and it has nothing to do with the hotspot. Turn on screen mirroring on your TV your Samsung has a button that says screen mirroring.

-WiFi is NOT internet connection, it is any wireless connection between two or more devices(plz google it)
-He is NOT using the internet or even a router. He could do this in the middle of a dessert. I've done it camping with no signal.

-He shouldn't have labeled this as no WiFi since he is using WiFi(but not internet)
-He should have used a labtop to cast to a non smart tv to avoid all these comments on claims that he's using internet
And if you want to do this then you need a miracast enabled dongle and a phone or computer built in the last decade or more recent. Also doesn't work with apple since they use their own airplay protocol instead of miracast protocol.

I completely disagree with you guys that say that connecting your TV to a hotspot is Wi-Fi, that's cellular hotspot not Wi-Fi internet through your house. Only thing is he's not really connecting his TV to the hotspot he's using Miracast. To connect Miracast with Amazon fire or Roku doesn't need cellular hot spot or internet Wi-Fi. Most phones don't have Miracast, so this video is not very helpful.
