What about the Tale of Genji George? That's almost a thousand years old and reads pretty much like a novel, many people consider it the first too. Sure, it's not like the modern novel exactly, but I'd say it's the earliest example of a novel in essence.
Also I did love his reaction to what he'd heard about the South Park version of him - he's so on the money about himself! It's not wieners, it's boobies they should have gone for in those episodes! You know nothing Trey and Matt.
