🏃♂I just recently upgraded my Chase Sapphire Preferred to the Reserve and I’m stoked to try out the Sapphire lounges as they continue to roll out. At my home airport in Austin, we have a Sapphire Terrace lounge that isn’t anywhere near as big as the normal Sapphire lounges, but hey, I’m not gonna complain about free snacks and drinks and a quieter place to work. Great stuff as always man! 👊🏼
🏃♂️I just visited the sapphire lounge in Boston yesterday, it was a great time. Food was decent with great drinks and great views of all the runways and ramp activity for all the aviation fans out there. I do with they had a special room for sapphire reserve holders to get away from the general priority pass holders, or did something different since it is chase branded.
I visited the Boston Sapphire Reserve lounge in August just after it opened. I was very nice. Nice views and a nice bar. Also as far as the Priority Pass holders, I believe they can only visit the lounge once a year.

One aspect of lounge access and value that I don’t see mentioned much is that of solo travel. I find it’s much easier to handle the main airport if I am traveling with someone. Lugging a jacket, handbag/backpack and roller bag everywhere you go (bathrooms)and keeping an eye on same in busy areas is definitely stressful. Much easier to relax in a lounge if you are alone. Bottom line - I place a higher value on lounge access when single traveling.
When I was younger, I didn't even know anything about airport lounges. In my youth (I'm 50 now lol) I could handle waiting at the gate or similar area for hours at a time without much thought. But, now that I'm older, I don't have the patience to wait for that long of a period. Plus, I value the comfort that lounge access offers. Have a nice place to rest before a flight, with good food and Wi-Fi is important. I will even pay extra for business/first class just for the comfort. Now, I am at a point in my career were I can afford that, so that's another issue. The older I get, the less patience I have for things that didn't bother me before. I don't know, maybe I'm becoming a "grumpy old man" like my wife sometimes says lol.

I’m reminded of the Virgin Atlantic Plaza Premium lounges from the first class lounge shown here. A full service meal always has a more elevated experience than a buffet, and I wasn’t surprised when most US Virgin lounges were limited from Amex and C1 access. Virgin was my favorite when access was more widely available as it was always quieter, more dimly lit, and a truly premium experience. Haven’t been in a year now and always longing for more at other lounges.
My wife and I were at HKG on 11/05 via CX881 to DXB so I went to (get this) 5 different lounges WITHOUT the Centurion as I don’t have the AMEX card. I first tried the Sapphire Lounge who won’t let me in until 3 hours before my departure and shower cost HKG200. I then went to the PPL who allowed only 2 hours but can recheck in so I went ahead then switched to the The Pier 玉衡堂 near Gate-65 that IMHO is the BEST! 👍 We also went to the other 2 CX lounges briefly without stating!
I loved the sapphire lounge when we visited in April during our Japan trip, was referred to it for the a.m as the Centurion lounge didn’t open at 6 a.m when we visited. Egg Benedict was delicious 🏃🏽♀️
🏃🏻 1. The real answer is that the Cathay Pacific The Pier First Class Lounge is where I'd go for everything 😉 2. The Plaza Premium First Lounge looks just like the other Plaza Premium lounges that are on Priority Pass, except that its mostly empty.
Went to both Sapphire and Amex lounges in HK in different occasions over the past week. I think you got them right. If the Amex lounges had more comfortable seating like some other Amex lounges (perhaps they're where the Centurion area is) it would have been won by a mile. As it currently stands, I find Sapphire to be more comfortable. An Amex agent in Denver once told me that each Amex lounge has its own specialty design. Denver has local CO craft beers on tap at a separate bar, JFK has a speakeasy, ATL has an outdoor terrace, etc. Perhaps HKG is about opulence, which seems to fit the city, so they have this giant Centurion area behind the glass door. Like you said, i've only seen other Amex lounges with small roped off areas for Black card holders, specifically just SFO.
🏃♂️Sapphire lounge in Boston is pretty good. I loved the convenience of it being located 1 gate away from my Jetblue mint flight to SFO. They also gave me a free Sapphire luggage tag last month as a first time visitor 😎
Really glad to see the options. I flew through HKG several times during 2020-21. It was quite a different vibe with nothing open. "The Last Flight out of Shanghai" was my first and only video in March 2020. 🏃♂
🏃 Sebby, great tour! One thing it seems you just breezed through (pun intended) on the First Class Lounge is that there is a section to take a shower! This is such an underrated feature when you have such a long layover in the airport! 1. To eat, I'd probably go with First Class > Amex > Sapphire. The desserts and baked goods look scrumptious! And the fact they make noodle soup fresh is legit! 2. Sapphire > First Class > Amex to relax. The Sapphire view you had is such a great spot for people watching, follow by First Class for the exclusivity and privacy. 3. From what I can gather, First Class > Sapphire > Amex. I'll just eat at all three places and then judge on all criteria.
So I get that the first class lounge is better, but looking at the availability for capital one venture holders it’s extremely limited within the USA. This alone would deter me from the card as we do most of our traveling within the states
🏃♂️Was the AMEX and CS Lounges loud? With them being “open air” did you notice noise spill from the terminal? Going to a lounge for me is to get away from all of the noise. AMEX although busy looked ideal as compared to the CS. I haven’t been overly impressed with the CS lounges so far, they need a lot of work imo. The First Class Lounge looks ideal. I like the made to order options there. I also appreciate good service and a good vibe. Great review, thanks for sharing!
I was just in Hong Kong and had access to the First Class lounge and Chase Lounge. Due to my short transfer time I didn't want to walk to gate 60 cause I thought it was far! So I settled for CSR which was a disappointment, but better than nothing. Thanks for showing me what I missed.
🏃♂️ I’m flying China Air from MNL-TPE-SFO in April. Can’t wait to try their business class. Are you on the A350? Or 777? And will you do a review video of the flights?
I was at The Wing lounge a couple weeks ago and the food choice wasn't that good. It was crowded though the bar is cool. I should have gone to the AMEX Lounge instead.
Delta Gold is mostly for free checked bags. Would probably actually pick up a different card as a workhorse. Benefits probably Amex Platinum? TLDR: Only reason to use Delta Gold is on Delta flights.
@AskSebby Thank you, I have both. Got the Platinum before the Pandemic through your website and the Delta Gold at the airport because of a luggage issue. I use the Delta for groceries and Platinum for all the rest.
Centurion lounge full of Hong Kong locals because they have Amex card but no chase sapphire card. This is the reason why centurion is so crowded compared to chase lounge.
I checked on the First class Lounge and it does happen to available for those with Loungebuddy credit. (Amex Green) Being a Priority pass / Loungebuddy credit holder, I'll check out the Chase one and the Plza Premium First. (Centruion does seem crowded.)
Does anyone know what time the sapphire lounge bar service starts? I have a layover in hong kong and wanted to visit the sapphire lounge to try their signature cocktails but my connecting flight departs at 11am
🏃♂My favorite lounge in HKG is the Cathay first class lounge. 👌 I haven't had any of those whiskeys so can't comment on them. I like the Amex lounges for food drinks and vibes if it weren't for the crowds.
🏃♂I fly to HK every year and I always fly Cathay. Interested to hear your take on building status with Cathay (one world) versus booking on different airlines i.e. EVA / China Airways / ANA etc.
Hey Sebby! Thanks for another great video. As far the whiskies, the Solist lineup from Kavalan are pretty remarkable, but their core lineup is solid (not a fan of King Car Conductor though). I haven’t tried all the Solist, but the PX & Port knocked my socks off. Manzanilla was great too, but I wouldn’t personally pay the premium for a bottle. I think that Vinho sounds great too, but if I had to choose one based on what I’ve tried it would be Solist Port Cask 🥃 Cheers to you!
🏃🏾♂️I just knew that you had some type of cool wallpaper on your phone. Time to up your phone wallpaper game Sebby 😃 1. First class 2. Centurion 3. Sapphire Thanks!!!!!
🏃 Hey Sebby curious what’s your favorite carrier for business SFO/OAK to NY. I live in the East Bay and my best friend lives in NY. Now that he has a couple of kids I’ve gotta make the visits to him. JetBlue Mint looks nice and it seems like they have a lot of award availability that can be booked through Qatar w/ Avios. Curious if you have a favorite carrier or favorite point-redemption option for that route. Thanks for all the info & videos!
🏃 Definitely the 1st class lounge for the food, and Sapphire for the ambience. But if I ranked them, it would be 1st class, Centurion, and then Sapphire. Thanks for showing us how lounges are abroad.
Whiskey: The Vinho is good but cask strength. Easier to find elsewhere than others. I actually got Blue Label when in TPE because it was the best deal LOL. The Hibiki might be my favorite overall, but I think you can find better deals.
🏃🏻♂️Hi Sebby, what are the additional requirements for Delta Reserve Card members to access the Amex Centurion Lounge? Great video by the way. Perfect situation to shoot a great video review of the airpot lounges!
Same-day Delta-marketed or Delta operated flight: global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/detail/complimentary-access-centurion-lounge/delta-reserve i.e., a China Airlines / China Eastern / Vietnam Airlines (all SkyTeam) flight purchased through Delta site or app should work since it's Delta-marketed. Delta-operated = Delta like normal.
🏃 First and Business Class lounge definitely was a vibe, plus we're those showers I apotted as well? 👀 To me, almost nothing beats a nice hot shower after a long haul international flight!
🏃♂ I've not had a chance to try the Sapphire lounge in Boston (or Hong Kong) but I can always trust centurion lounges to have good food and to be crowded lol. I guess I would rank them Centurion > Sapphire > First
🏃♂️ Manzanilla finished whiskies are delicious! The kavalan manzanilla has some solid reviews online, I'd probably get one if I ever saw it in a duty free vs. U.S. prices. Cheers! 🥃
🏃♂️Sebby! I literally just did this exact same thing but in the states. I hit the new cap 1 denver lounge (wow, great food. Staff are attentive but obvious they are new. Cool place but some of the amenities seem gimmicky. Like the rest room is 15 min max, and the office spaces are all 30 mins and you can’t leave while inside without asking to be let back in. Grab and go is awesome tho. Technically i also hit the new united club in A (wow very cool too, but terrible food as per usual) Then in SFO I went to centurion (nice like usual but the food was better in cap 1, very crowded, barely any seats. Dining experience is awesome, they let me sleep for 2 hours in the nap area and got a shower (worst airport shower ever. Terrible pressure). Awesome food even buffet, and even did 2 meetings from the private offices. Amazing. I can’t wait until the delta one lounges open.
@@AskSebby I used to be such a whore for cent lounges over sky clubs because I have really only flown D1 for J but now with 1.5 million points from the last year of SUBs I was getting antsy for a biz trip. Got SFO-BNE and back for 75k each way on UA metal from Aeroplan. 10k Lifemiles for my positioning flight from DEN and 4k WN for return. Work reimbursing me for economy price ticket of $2k. 150k points for the $16,000 RT ticket. Not a bad redemption if you ask me plus the $2k is a cherry on top. Anyway all that to say the Polaris lounge is where it's at. I'm still here and I never want to leave LOL. I have seen the light. Now to get to Dubai or Doha or Singapore...
🏃♂Have 222k Amex Points, probably will have 250k by this time next year. How would you spend them on a honeymoon if you were in our situation? Thanks!
As expected the first class lounge wins, the Centurion lounge is a bit too crowded. AMEX needs to address this, especially locations where people are standing in line to get in. I hate to say this, but they need to limit the number of visits per year for Platinum members or build larger lounges. This business model may work for them, but not for card holders.
Americans are also the bulk of its revenue, and more likely to fly places since there's practically no competition from intercity buses and trains. That's why our airport terminals (and thus lounges) are crowded compared to the rest of the globe.
Been to the Hong Kong Centurion Lounge several times and it’s the best of the Centurion lounges by far. Generally less crowded too. The others are generally much more crowded and just not on par with Hong Kong. And there aren’t enough Centurion lounges either. I just don’t think that lounge access in itself is justification for acquiring the Platinum card. There are many other benefits that warrant acquiring the card, but lounge access in itself does not.
To many have the AmEx Platinum card , The Military annual Fee should be discontinued, and eventually be based on Credit worthiness at least for the platinum card
I was in the Las Vegas Centurion Lounge yesterday, they have a relatively small seating area reserved for Centurion Card members. And no one was sitting there. If I had a Centurion Card, would I want to sit there and tell the world “Hey, I’m a Centurion Card member!!” Not really.
China airlines sucks.....their business class seat I took was like a 1970s lazyboy with a 1000 metal creaking parts......and you heard everyone going back. And the lady saying "you want hot dog??" I had no idea what she meant until I got several hot dogs in thin foil.
First class lounge was the only one that looked worth visiting. I’ve had the Platinum, have the Reserve, and thinking about getting the Platinum again. Every time I watch lounge videos it makes me want it less and less.
I cover business cards here: www.youtube.com/@AskSebbyBusiness Most of the non-guarantor cards aren't really points ones / not competitive IMO. Not really something I'm as versed in given that.

Seattle’s Centurion lounge has improved with the new location but still busy.
Glad it's improved!

Thoroughly enjoyed this video Sebby.
Also, I’m fascinated with price arbitrage of whiskey. Would love to learn more or hear about your experience!
Which video do you recommend to make better use of my Amex points to travel to DR in March 2024?
how do you access Plaza Premium First? Does it come with AMEX Plat?
The Daytona on rubber strap looks really good! I love to always see what is on your wrist for each travel videos =)
can you link your credit card ‘wallet’ that you’ve shown in many videos? love your content!
The Chase Sapphire Lounge is the old Plaza Premium Lounge right?
It is, the layout felt strangely familiar before I asked a staff member who confirmed it was the same place
Yes, they layout is exactly the same.

Mexico City’s centurion is on point. Seperate area for first class passengers. Was a huge surprise

I was at The Wing lounge a couple weeks ago and the food choice wasn't that good. It was crowded though the bar is cool. I should have gone to the AMEX Lounge instead.
Hi S. If you had a Delta Gold Amex and a Amex Platinum which one would you recommend to use more often for benefits etc?🏃♀️Thank you.

Seems most of Asia has better lounges by default.
Centurion lounge full of Hong Kong locals because they have Amex card but no chase sapphire card. This is the reason why centurion is so crowded compared to chase lounge.

Make a video for Lufthansa card
🏃 I’d go to the plaza premium lounge over any of the other two any day.
Will u review lounges in Taiwan?
Yup! Coming soon.
Hey Sebby great video! Will you be making a trip report or what’s in my wallet vidoe showing what cards you used ? 😊
Definitely!
Sao Paolo has a section for black card holders as well
Good to know!
Huh no way I just looked to see if you came out with a new video
👀

How are you in HKG and not go to the Cathay first class lounge?
Not flying OW! CI is in ST: ruclips.net/video/Z00UYanUHHg/видео.html&pp=ygUIYXNrc2ViYnk%3D
🏃♂I fly to HK every year and I always fly Cathay. Interested to hear your take on building status with Cathay (one world) versus booking on different airlines i.e. EVA / China Airways / ANA etc.
One World status is worth it for the international lounges. Couldn't find any points availability on Cathay this time, so went with China Airlines.
🏃🏻♂️ is there a website with business class lounge list?
W Sebby. Quick question, is it possible to shift chase credit limits between business credit cards and personal credit cards?
It’s not. You can only go personal2Personal or Business2Business w/ Chase
No. Outside of weird edge cases (I can't think of any but maybe someone will comment below), I haven't seen it happen.
🏃♂️ I would love the comedy of Sebby reviewing a busy and run down United Club.
Hey Sebby! Thanks for another great video.

🏃🏾♂️I just knew that you had some type of cool wallpaper on your phone. Time to up your phone wallpaper game Sebby 😃
1. First class
2. Centurion
3. Sapphire

the asian options in chase seem more unique than stnadard centurion but you actually tasted it so i guess that matters more haha

Sherry Cask for sure!
Fino and moscatel, you won’t regret
-🏃♂️I can use my Priority Pass from Amex Platinum to get into the Chase Sapphire Lounge?
Yes, only once per year. CSR PP is unlimited.
🏃♂️ Manzanilla finished whiskies are delicious! The kavalan manzanilla has some solid reviews online, I'd probably get one if I ever saw it in a duty free vs. U.S. prices. Cheers! 🥃

Plaza Premium
CSR Let me downnnn.
🏃♂️which whiskey did you pick?
Covered in the China Airlines video (and showed off the TPE airport a ton): ruclips.net/video/Z00UYanUHHg/видео.html&ab_channel=AskSebby
Kinda stuck to the Hello Kitty area every time we fly by Taiwan 😅 🏃♂️
The Taiwan airport reminds me of the old Singapore airport where there's many interactive areas, but much smaller scale.
That was fun
Thanks for watching! :)
The centurion lounge would be way more packed if it was in the US. Too many people with the Amex platinum card here
Americans are also the bulk of its revenue, and more likely to fly places since there's practically no competition from intercity buses and trains.
Same with Houston and SFO now. They usually walk people over and have a server as well :)
🏃♂️The PX Kavalan for me 😊

🏃How have you never reviewed the BEST lounge in the West yet? (Turkish Airlines in Istanbul)
Maybe next year!
LAX def a dungeon! 😂
China airlines sucks.....their business class seat I took was like a 1970s lazyboy with a 1000 metal creaking parts......and you heard everyone going back. And the lady saying "you want hot dog??" I had no idea what she meant until I got several hot dogs in thin foil.
We have a funny video coming up soon on the second channel about China Airlines 🤭
First class lounge was the only one that looked worth visiting. I’ve had the Platinum, have the Reserve, and thinking about getting the Platinum again. Every time I watch lounge videos it makes me want it less and less.
🏃♂Can you talk about applying for Business cards that don't need a guarantor?
I cover business cards here: www.youtube.com/@AskSebbyBusiness
Most of the non-guarantor cards aren't really points ones / not competitive IMO. Not really something I'm as versed in given that.
