I'm no critic, I just want to comment since I watched this and enjoyed it. love this, and I think they did a fantastic job. The dress, music and the dancers combined was absolutely entertaining and really made it seem like something from a dark medieval fantasy. And always love bellydancing in general, so it was a unique and different taste of style here in my own opinion. ^^
I strive to be this graceful one day...then again, I don't put myself down because I start to realize how many years of practice this has to take to become really good. I've been belly dancing for like 3 weeks using Neon's DVDs. I'm not bad, but I am certainly no where near a graceful dancer's position whatsoever. This takes grace and good use of isolation. Can't say it's easy.
These outfits are badass! Very impressive dancing and I love the song chosen.
The blonde one is stiff! The best dancer most talented and natural is definitely the brunette!
My opinion
They're pretty, the music is fine, bu I feel like something's missing ..
Neon is amazing! Everyone else just pales. So much body control and rythm.
you can tell you guys were counting your steps while you danced. I liked it but the fact that there seemed to be no passion killed it for me. Belly dance is a dance of passion it isnt about how you are on count
I particularly did not FEEL anything from watching their movements. Though the song that was chosen for the dance I do love. Anubis by Shiva in Exile is one of my favorites and I dance to it often. I dont feel their song matched their dance.

Those costumes are wicked cool.
This does have the feel of the sort of entertainment laid on for honoured adventurer guests in some great warrior hall. "We ride for the Dire Dungeon of Dread Doom at morning light, but tonight, let us enjoy wine and ale and fine music! Bring on the dancing girls!"
I think this is great. It is not always about difficulty. It is about stage presence, costume etc. some people are so unkind. I own many of this co. workout and choreography. I find them challenging and fun always a graceful way to workout. I call them happy workout. So to all you form police, go troll yourself. Haha. That said if you know of other great video production let me know.
I think this would be a good beginners dance. Not too many complicated moves but still looks fun to do with a few of your friends.
I don't know why there's so much hate on this video. As a beginner belly dancer I find this video excellent to study and learn new combinations because they are so "jerky". They are easily distinguishable from each other. I think the dance doesn't quite fit the music but it's still pretty great.
Agreed. It was too stiff, too artificial, which is a pity - because they seem very good. I'd give them a couple of more weeks of practice. Or take a page from my friends book and hand them each a shot glass of something strong before the performance, make them relax a bit.

But Neon should have choosen more skilled partners. In fact, she was the only person whose dancing i appreciated there.
"Hollow" is exactly the word that comes to mind. This is what happens when you take away the art of something, and leave behind only technique.

To those who are criticizing the ones who believe the passion is missing from this video I have one question. Would you want to learn from someone who wasn't passionate about their art. If a teacher doesn't have passion neither do their students.

One needs variety, Yakuza Warlord. After all, variety is the spice of life. Neon is no exception.

Justin Sheridan Really? It reminded me of hula a lot. Sure Hula and belly dancing aren't totally dissimilar, but it's something I noticed. It just looked more like hula to me than the belly dancing I'm familiar with.
well the belly dancing your familiar with is probably Hollywood's belly dancing Actually belly dancing is a for of ritual dance that we use to express how we feel and also it a great way to pray to the goddess needless to say its extremely spiritual

Very unique! I was waiting for more tricks, but that might be harder to do with three dancers. I loved it though and the costumes are amazing!!

I feel like instead of dancers, Im watching warrior women that have deigned to show us their non lethal side. Its like theyve taken their combativeness and channeled it through art. The stiltedness others complain about is a stylist choice, the sudden starts and stops are part of the combat ritual and eye contact aggressiveness.

I have great respect for Neon as a dancer and I LOVE World Dance teachers and performers, but l have to agree with the previous comments. Nice costumes, but no energy or technical skills whatsoever. Perhaps Neon was just tired this day?
I dont really like the one in the middle, has a sort of cheerleader expression that ruins it for me, would love to see the dance done by others, it is interesting!

I hae never belly danced always wanted a "gothy', "tribal type of belly dance workout however i feel that at the weight im at right now I have a long way before I can do this
+Manda Martinotti You can enjoy any type of dance you like at any weight and doing it might help you feel good and improve your fitness and other healthy behaviors. I perform with a lot of women that current beauty standards consider too big or too out of shape and some of them are amazing performers. Feeling good about yourself has nothing to do with weight and when you begin to love yourself as you are it becomes easier to achieve a weight and body shape that makes YOU happy. Life is too short to miss out on things you want to do because you're not the perfect size so just go for it :)

This performance is about power, and self-control. Every move shows an overwhelming amount of power, hardly controlled. It is not about teeny,weeny happiness. It's about power, hate, passionate hate and how to control it. Sorry, you just didn't get the point.

Out of all her dances this one is my favorite. The music, the emotion, the movements. The dance itself was powerful and eerie. I could not look away.
I love these costumes! You guys are great. with a bit more practice and a more interesting setting this could be a masterpiece :D I'm tempted to use some of these moves myself, but I don't want to steel.

i am very annoyed by the PVC or leather straps that keeps flexing and relaxing and distracts me from their beautiful bellys and i didnt really get the story but its still awesome XD
Ooooh, Almost. They had the right moves, but needed to SLOW IT DOWN and make bigger movements w/ their bodies.

I met eons ago a dancer who had extensive dance background (ballet,jazz, modern) before learning belly dance. Her belly dance was wonderful, except, she showed no emotions when she danced. She thought it took away from the dance to do so. So is that the difference between cabaret and stage? So and troupe ? A soloist can emote till the cows come home.. but a troupe?

The dance was clearly practiced and came across smooth and professional but it didn't make me feel anything, also I'm not sure that the music, movements and costumes really went well together. It kind of looked like cabaret belly dancers trying to do tribal Gothic even though they're not really into it.
Still, very skilled, good movement quality and they stayed with the music and played with formation and different people doing different stuff a little bit.
Love the outfits.

Love the dance, the dancers could use tightening up their moves a little though, they're quite off from eachother sometimes kinda like most of their practicing was done alone instead of together. Still, a good example :)
