- 2017 Triumph Street Triple RS Review : At long last I've got my hands on a brand new, top spec 2017 Triumph Street Triple RS on long term loan from Triumph. This already brilliant bike has been revamped with a new 765cc engine, top spec Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension and a full electronics package bringing the hooligan middle-weight trumpet bang up to date. I recently discovered your reviews. I really like your thoughtful approach and lack of obnoxious music.
And what a great machine!
I'm subscribing.
Thank you Geoff - welcome aboard!
I'll 2nd that just watched a few reviews subscribed and will work through the rest of your videos, passed my mod 2 end of October. Really enjoying your review.
Fast bike.. in fact DVLA are now doing a deal with Triumph where every new customer is automatically issue with 6 points for speeding.
Wow, no question that this was by far the best motorcycle review video I've seen thus far. You mentioned specs but stayed away from only regarding numbers. Subbed and I am excited for a comparison between the 2013 and 2017 street triple.
Brilliant - thanks for the kind words and great to have you along! Stay tuned for more on the this bike soon!
Test rode one last week, you know just to see what all the fuss is about.
That was an expensive test ride, I pick it up on Saturday lol
Congratulations!
you probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can offer me
@Yahir Prince instablaster ;)
@Archer Zahir Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Archer Zahir It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account :D
+TheMissendenFlyer Just a note on the fork adjustments....Look under the passenger seat for the cool little adjuster coin Triumph includes that makes it easy to get at the fork adjustments.
Yeah some others mentioned that - cheers!
Alternatively, look in your pocket for a cool little adjuster coin ;)
I traded my Street Triple for a Tiger 800 XRX, I've done some journeys across Europe with both bikes, and ofcourse the Tiger was more comfortable. But a few days ago, I rode the new Street Triple RS and was blown away! It remembered me again of why I started riding motorcycles. Such a joy.... So you can see the dilemma I'm in. Going for the Street once more, or keeping my age-appropriate Tiger 800....Greetings from Belgium.
...the answer of course, is to have both! :0)
I completely agree with you. I bought 2018 xcx couple of months back. However I happened to test ride new RS. absolutely wonderful bike. At 166 kg dry weight, it’s a joy to ride on street as well as highways. Getting delivery in three days from now. My xcx is up for sale.
I rode a demo RS 765 6th May. So easy to ride, comfortable & the suspension is brilliant, so soft but stable. It's light. It's quick and tons of fun, a real hooligan tool. The fuelling is brilliant too, easy and smooth to ride in town at slow speeds. It's almost too good, too capable, too easy to ride. (that actually puts me off it a bit, that it has no flaws) Missenden Flyer is right when he says it flatters your riding. It is also so smooth with no vibrations, the bar end mirrors are great too with no shaking at all. I'm 6ft 2 and the seating position was so natural. Steering, well you just have to think where you want to go and there it goes. It handles brilliantly. The Display is awesome too. Cons. Still lacks torque compared to my F800R 2015 and I'm not sure I'm a fan of the rear end but apart from that it seems pretty much the perfect naked middleweight.
I agree, the main thing against it in my mind is the styling - I actually prefer the looks of the previous generation bikes....
Missenden Flyer, I love your channel, and although I live in the heart of Harley-Davidson country, the American Midwest, I have always loved Triumphs. I finally put my money down on a new, old stock (2016) Street Triple. When I test rode it, the torque almost shoved the bike forward like a one liter V-Twin cruiser! That kind of power on such a light bike is addictive!
Thanks for your videos. You helped inspire a lapsed motorcycle lover to get back on the saddle again.
Nice one Joe - enjoy!
The review we've all been waiting for!
Hehe :0)
Now this is the review I've been waiting for. Great review and a great bike!
Cheers - loads more to come on this bike... :0)
Just thought I'd say how much I appreciate your channel, not been subscribed for massively long but have found your videos very informative and helpful, some of your recommendations for other channels to watch have been great as well. Was literally watching your video about about applying acf50 as I applied it to my new rs yesterday, and then this gets posted today 😁😁. PS you do get both a seat and cowl. Regards Jason.
+Jason Stewart Thank you Jason, very kind of you to say so....and thanks for the clarification regarding the seat/cowl...TMF
Mr Flyer, just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. I'm a Tring boy myself, considering returning to the UK after 27 years in Sydney, and I'm planning to get a Street Triple. I was hoping to pick up a low-mileage 2 year old Triple with ABS for about 5,000 pounds, but after reading your review I see I'll have to fork out 10,000 for a new RS. Thanks for that. Particularly enjoy your road tests around the familiar Bucks countryside; amazing you can fit in so many with only 4 days sunshine per year !
+tony button Thanks Tony, out of interest, with only 4 days sunshine a year, why would you want to come back?
3 reasons; the beautiful countryside, the beer and the wry English sense of humour. Also, strangely, the weather. Sydney in Jan/Feb is often 30' with stifling humidity. This is not good motorcycling weather, unless you want to ride in shorts and T-shirt like the suicidal Aussies. Thanks again for the review; I see MCN agrees with you, although their review isn't as thorough !
Interesting Tony, thanks - I have a grumbling ambition to emigrate to Aus or NZ so this sort of feedback is very useful! Cheers - TMF
Possibly the best real world review of this bike so far. I've ridden this bike and the previous model and Triumph have done a great job. I was impressed how smooth the fly by wire throttle was. I know this model has all the trick bits on to take it up to £10K but it does place it close in price to the totally mad and much more powerful MT10 (Which I own and would not swop for the Triumph)
Also think its a shame Triumph have given the lower models less power, why?
All good points Banditmanuk - thanks for the kind comments and for stopping by...
Great review. I didn't expect anything else as your reviews are always top notch. Where you have really excelled yourself is in convincing me, with your excellent camera work , that this bike is not quite that ugly after all! I think the looks are actually growing on me!
Careful! :0)
I tried one of these, like you I had the 675 street, this thing is a fantastic bit of kit sports bike handling, fantastic engine, loved the quickshifter and the dash is so cool. When I rode one I had the feeling the bike was crying out for a race track!! looking forward to riding the R version now! (little bit cheaper). Dont kid yourself..............you know your going to buy one!
Yes a great improvement in handling over the older models for sure...having lots of fun with this machine...
I'm 65 and not very limber and it's painful getting on and off of my 12GS. I'll certainly keep this bike in mind. Great review old chap!
Thank you. Certainly easier to get on and off of this than a GS!
Love the pixelated Speedo 😂😂😂...a steady 60 I presume.
Love your reviews and always find them extremely informative. I also own a 2012 Street Triple R and will be eager to see how they compare. Thanks for your consistently excellent videos!
Thank you Brad - I will be doing a direct comparison of my 2012 versus this bike in the next few days/weeks, so stay tuned for that!
Another informative and most importantly enjoyable video. Such a nice part of the world to ride around. That seems a very sweet bike and you are obviously smitten by it! I look forward to your "unboxing my new Triumph Triple!" Keep up the good work and I look forward to the rest of the reviews.
Thanks Henry - lots more to come!
Visited the dealer I patronize a couple of days ago. A dealer principal rode one of these (among other bikes) from Key West, FL to Homestead, FL a few weeks back during a dealer promo/ introduction by Triumph America. She was gushing over this one. Hoping Triumph sells every one they build. I'll stick with my Sprint STs, GTs and Trophys!
...I'm sure they will, fabulous little machines, I love 'em!
As usual a nice honest review for real world riders - have order mine and now have a two month wait for delivery
Exciting times! Congratrulations Tony...
That's got to be one of the best bike reviews I've ever watched; just brilliant. Absolutely stonking bike but I'm only 5' 6" so unlikely I'll be able to touch the floor ... such a shame because it's a stunning bike; hat's off to Triumph!
Thank you very much Graham, you should have a sit on one, they're not that tall.....
You're more than welcome; I'm an expat Brit living in Northern Thailand and it's not that easy to source bikes up here and they are generally very expensive due to the import tax. I've sat on a few bikes, recently tried the Triumph Tiger and I was on the balls of my feet with the seat height being 810mm. From the information I have the RS is 820mm so my little legs would dangle lol. Took a look at your vlog for the RS instrument panel as well - great job. Have a great day mate.
Done go by seat height alone... you must try to sit on bikes as the width of the seat/frame/engine
makes all the difference.
Handy review as always, thanks! With all the talk of expensive bikes, I'm staggered at the price especially with all the trick kit. Look forward to the instrument walk-through and all the other forthcoming attractions.
Cheers - stay tuned!
I was originally underwhelmed by the look of the latest street triple , but, after much consideration of one in the flesh , it
dawned on me that Triumph have pulled off a quite brilliant piece of design here …..
a naked street bike that manages to look uncannily like a sports bike.
It's clearly intentional and very clever, but aesthetically its miles away from the brutal street roadster look of the original .
Damm it, so visted local triumph dealer and test rode the RS. Did have my Tiger sport 2016 on auto trader, well I did until yesterday RS pick up Friday night added Arrow can, anodised reservoir's LED pack all round, short tail tidy and screen and mirror pack. Im actually surprised I have gone for it but its a lovely bike great handling and engine, it'll go nicely with the Triumph stable to compliment the Explorer for commute, The Thruxton R cafe for nostalgia and this wonderful machine.....for the ride.
Congratulations Tris, great bike, I love mine....you are becoming a serious Triumph fan boy there!
Been wondering when you'd get on one of these! Great review.
I'm picking up a low-mileage 2014 STriple R in three days. Couldn't be more excited!
+Dan Likes Red Congratulations and enjoy!
Another excellent real world bike review. While I was watching I almost had a sense of this review being on Tv. Like a segment from the old style top gear......I don't mean your review is old. I mean, it's incisive, articulate, informative and interesting to watch and listen too. But available on demand as soon as you post it. Love the Screen, but not sure of the styling of the rest of the bike. Compared to your 2012 model. The new seems more rounded, rather than the angular older model?
One day I'll get your impression of the 650 v storm.
Thanks Phil - I'm with you, the styling on this I don't think is an improvement, unlike the handling, which is!
One of the best soundtracks in motorcycling... And I agree with Geoff St John; good you don't spoil your reviews with shite music. Talking of sound, the reportage is very clear on this video. Another thank you and we'll done from me!
Thank you Buzz, music over videos featuring engine noise is one thing you'll not get from me!
Great initial review. I have a 2012 and wondered what the ride quality is like in the new one as some reviews say RS is more geared up for track. Sounds like this is not problem. Keep up the good work.
The ride quality is leagues ahead of the 2012...my 2012 is stiff, this thing is plush...love the handling, best aspect of the bike in my opinion...
Great stuff. Look Fw to the next episode!
Was really looking forward to your review, not sure if the TFT is any good if it keeps blurring out when you go fast :). Sat on one at TFest the other week unfortunately I had my son with me so couldn't go for a ride. Will have to book a test ride at some point. Brilliant review as always TMF.
Thank you Daren - loads more to come on this bike...stay tuned!
At long last! Another great review. Look forward to your updates with this bike.
Lots more to come Stuart!
braw!
Very much looking forward to comparison videos with the older Street Triple. Also love a point of view from the handlebars - breaks up monotony.
Cheers Danilicious - I'll be working on that comparison video very soon! Thanks for watching - TMF
Been helping a friend getting one of these to lessons, long story. Hadn’t ridden in years. The speed was shocking.
Great review as always, RS looks fab sounds great. Never really looked that closely at this triple but going to have a better look now . Cheers for all the top work you put into the reviews you put out .
Thanks TB - appreciate the kind words - TMF
Great review as always! Looks and sounds like another outstanding motorcycle from Triumph! Enjoy riding it over the next month!
Cheers Pete - I sure am! :0)
I've been waiting for your review of this bike! This will be my next bike, probably not this year or the next, but it will! I'm looking forward to the other reviews on this beauty. 😀
Stay tuned, lots more to come on this one! Thanks for watching....TMF
Really been looking forward to your take on this bike.... and it looks like a winner. Cannot wait to see more of your insight and opinions as we go!!
Cheers Scott - lots more to come on this puppy!
Quality build, nice performance- all you'd need for around town. Still not a big wrap for that headlight pod but I could learn to live with it . Bikini fairings available for extra wind, weather protection?
Great review some of the best bike reviews on RUclips thanks for your hard work . Looking forward to your next Scotland video
Thank you Shaun - Next Scotland vid will be posted on Friday PM ;0) Stay tuned!
He so booted that to get away from the cops on that straight he went flying past them on. I saw the cheeky look in the mirror! 😂
Excellent review of a gorgeous looking bike. Don't mind the lights and cowling from the front but side on not so. Those god damn plate hangars always bring me to tears!
+Paul Davies Its a brilliant riders bike, but I have to say I don't like the looks of the front end compared to previous models....
Just bought myself one of these. Got a great deal. Absolute dream bike
Good choice!
Lovely job! What a cracking bike - all the best bits of the 675 but turned up to 11! Looking forward to seeing what else you make of it.
Agreed - almost all the best bits ;0)
I have a '14 MT-09 (the original model with the aggressive fueling) that I bought brand new, it's got Ohlins, Titanium Akrapovic and ECU flash etc etc (no ABS or TC) but I'm actually thinking of buying a new Street Triple RS instead. The MT-09 has so much torque and power that it's really easy to upset it mid corner and the front wheel just lifts off the ground under acceleration in 1st & 2nd and even in 3rd, 4th & 5th if it hits a bump, which is all good and all and demonstrates the power of that amazing engine BUT it gets old quick, sometimes you just want to be able to ride fast and smooth without the thing trying to kill you. Absolutely stunning engine with an epic sound from the titanium Akra and the bike itself now handles like a dream since fitting the Ohlins and Andreani fork cartridges and I'm going to be extremely sad to see it go but i just don't think it's all that usable on the road. From what I've experienced with the MT-09 and read about the Street Triple RS it seems that the MT is a pure demonstration of torque and the Street Triple RS is more focused on getting you from A to B smoothly and quickly. I need to save a few more pennies before I can outright afford the Street Triple RS with Arrow exhaust so I'll test ride one this Summer and if I like it I'll order a new one in Spring 2019. I'm not familiar with Triumph's sales patterns so does anyone know if 2019 will likely bring any new colors to the Street Triple RS range our are they likely to remain fixed with the Matte Silver and Black? As it is I do quite like the Matte Silver anyway.
I love English motorbikes, I would love for Triumph to make a Daytona 1000 R
I'll second that!
i wouldn't be surprised to see this engine fitted to a daytona in the near future
Hi TMF, how often do you change your bikes? Or do you change if a big improvement arrives on your existing bike. Is the new street triple RS going to make you px/sell your 2012 bike?
I have just bought a Tiger 800 xca, px ing the 2015 scrambler. I had three BMW 1200 gas adv over the previous 10 years. I am absolutely amazed at what triumph have done with the overall package of the tiger 800 xca, giving some stuff that BMW don't provide as standard(heated seats to name but one) and great build quality.
Only done 420 miles so far but love it already which is a good sign. Still love the gas though, but hope they are out my blood now. Cheers mate, loving all the vids.
Thanks Mike, I tend to buy the best vehicle I can afford (this applies to bikes and cars) and then keep it for as long as possible, if I find myself having to change it after say three years then clearly I made the wrong choice! ...that's my logic anyway, I know lots of people have to have the "next best thing" or just like to change frequently - I like to get best value out of my hard earned cash....
Hi TMF. The new Street Triple looks to be a great bike. I love the triple engine; so smooth and torquey. Really looking forward to the follow-up videos on this bike. Great content as always.
+Steve Inskip Thanks Steve, loads more to come on this bike, loving riding her every day...
Great. I'm going to test ride one in Toulouse over the summer. Not intending to swap the Morini and I don't need 2 nakeds, but it'll be interesting to see the development of the engine since the first Daytona 675 that I had. Loved that engine to bits!
You'll love this one even more (I've just this moment got in from another blast on the STripleRS - brilliant fun....)
Great review as always! You forgot to mention your remarks on how the supercorsa tires made the bike feel! Are the rear sections 180 or 190?
+kolokolok 2016 Did I not mention those? Brilliant feel, big improvement over the rosso corsas on my Street Triple and Panigale....
Thank you for the good review. Top notch as usual! Can you tell me if the seat is canted forward like the previous 2012? I am infatuated with the Street triple but and love the ride over all but they kind of make me smash my.... "situation" in to the gas tank. Before I drive an hour and a half to the nearest dealership I would like your thoughts on that particular aspect.
Thank you for your time and thoughts in this. Have a great day!
Hehe, I find the riding position is identical to my 2012...but then I don't have that problem you seem to be suffering from! The ride on the 2017RS is sooo much better than the 2012 - you owe it to yourself to try one....
Great review. I test rode the previous model and would have ordered one but heard I was coming to Canada. The only things I faulted with it were the useless mirrors and I found the riding position a bit cramped. Other than that it was so much fun. Looks like they've kept the spirit of the bike and just enhanced it. Clever chaps at Triumph.
Yeah I agree - and these mirrors work a treat too!
What a great review. I cannot wait until you publish on the 2018!
Thank you John - I'm hoping to try an "R" if I can....
Love how you blurred out the speedo when you opened it up, funny! But seems like a necessity where you live, cops everywhere! Great video - will be looking at this seriously when I get back off o/s posting.... You mentioned better build quality on some of the retro bikes - which ones, out of interest?
Well the build quality is great on the Street Triple but the Thruxton R, T100, etc I think are even better - maybe it's the chrome touches that fool me!
I have th R (not RS) as an every day bike....... It rocks
As likely my next bike, been eagerly waiting for this! Can't wait to see the coming videos!
Stay tuned - lots more to come!
Could not agree more. Had a smile on my face all the way home with mine.
+Joe Cantrell Glad you like the bike - enjoy!
Very nice, love the display, quick shifter sounds instant and that Triumph sound which I'm already missing.
Maybe one day 😁
Good job TMF and loving the Scotland video by the way.
JJ
Cheers The33JayJay - good to hear from you again!
Took RS out for a test today. I must be in a minority as I was not very impressed. The mirrors were blurred at any speed over 50mph and I found the noise at motorway speed irritating which is annoying as I really wanted to like this bike as I have a 14 plate Street Triple which I love. I also didnt like the front
Brake lever and thought the clamp looked cluttered. So disappointed as I really wanted to like the bike.
Await your updates with interest once you've ridden it for a while.
Well I am surprised, but then I'm coming from a 2012 R so maybe the differences in handling are bigger, I have to say there are no issues with the mirrors on the bike I'm riding and I find the noise quite quiet compared to mine! ....I don't love everything about the bike though....stay tuned! Thanks for watching - all the best - TMF
TheMissendenFlyer Nigel Kirkham The whole dashboard goes blurry at higher speeds too.
hoping to do my DAS later this year. got CBR 125 at the moment. a er6 would be way cheaper but oh my goodness it's going to be very tempting to get a street triple. looking at one in the flesh and they are gorgeous
+magik9637 They are brill bikes - good luck with your DAS!
Amazingly good review, but I shouldn't really say amazing since it is what I have come to expect!
My current bike is a 2013 Yamaha FJR1300 that I love but it is pretty heavy and I'm getting older - 73 and counting. The triple would be my first naked bike and the weight reduction is very appealing but I wonder about the other tradeoffs. I don't enjoy "time on the slab" but like to make occasional trips of 200 - 300 miles. I never have a passenger. I would value your advice very much.
Perhaps an even dumber question: I notice the passenger pegs on the RS but can quite see where a passenger would sit. I'm not really concerned about having a passenger but would like to use soft saddle and/or tail bags on occasion - would the weight there pose any problem?
I'm hoping your upcoming review will comment on how well the head lights function at night both on straight aways and turns. There are reported problems with the FZ09 headlights when turning.
Thanks for the kind words Daniel, the Street Triple is easily comfortable enough for 2-300 mile rides, carrying kit however may be more of an issue if you're used to the big Yamaha. Passenger wise on the RS the rear seat "hump" can be replaced by a rear seat pad, so possible but not sure how comfy that would be for anything other than the occasional use.....
Brilliant review, helped me make my decision to go for one of these. What clamp are you using on your helmet gopro by the way?
I'm just using the sticky helmet pad that comes with the camera - check my video (something like) "how to set up a motorcycle helmet for Vlogging" for full details....
Thanks, lovely review. I can relate a lot as I also have a 2012 street triple r. However I am not quite sure what your taking about when you refer to the 12s handling. I have ridden many other motorcycles (no where near as many as you), and I think the 12s handling is sublime. I often take it to the race track and really keep up with the supersports and superbikes in my skill category. I haven't adjusted the factory suspension and I ride with dunlop q3s.
Yeah I'm going to get some new tyres fitted to mine as a first step, then I'm off to a suspension specialist to get mine set up - riding this new machine has shown me how way off mine is!
Excellent review as always. Better than the professionals. I'm looking forward to the dashboard demo.
Very kind of you to say so, thanks.....and stay tuned!
I was actually the first person to test ride this at my local dealer, I applied for the test ride 3 months in advance lol.
It's easily the best bike I've ever ridden. I know that's a bit of a dramatic thing to say, but to me, it's perfect. It's got the power of my Daytona, but with shitloads of comfort, incredible handling and my god is it smooth. The clutch is smooth, the braking is smooth, the steering is smooth, the bike makes me feel like a rockstar and I'm not even that great of a rider. I can comfortably flat foot it, it's nice and light, thin, and I think it's also pretty sexy.
Not to mention it's also safer with the ABS and traction control, has double the fuel economy of my Daytona, and has a quick shifter as standard. Fuck my life.
I just can't afford it, which makes me depressed considering I've been thinking about the ride ever since I test rode it. If I could find a spare 7 grand, I'd sell my Daytona in a heartbeat.
Out of interest have you ridden the previous generation? To my mind almost as good and you could probably get a bargain one....
No I haven't, but then I was never really interested in the Striples until this years model. They always felt a bit behind compared to my Daytona, or at least other bikes of the same nature. I can't really complain, I have a perfectly functioning bike that I still love to ride very much, it's just aggravating when I've now ridden something better.
Hi Missenden Flyer, Great review as always, so is your review on the R model and your comparrison with your own 2012 model.
Quick one if you have a min. Is the R or the RS more comfortable for commuting/ocassional touring? The RS has the better suspension but is it better for average use or is the R more comfortable?
I can't tell the difference in comfort between the R and RS - both identical as far as I can make out....
Thanks for the quick reply sir. Good to know. Looking forward to January Bike news monthly ;-)
I went to the tour tech even to test ride the touring bikes ( tiger sport was good) but I was happy to get back on my street triple for the ride home be even better on the new 765 . It's the best bike line triumph make in my opinion
You may well be right!
Enjoyed the review, the Street Triple is in my top 3 list for next new bike. It will be interesting to see how the R model compares with the RS, less bhp, will it have more mid range? Beautiful machine, see if I make room in the stable for it.
There's always room!
Hi TMF, love your videos! I used your review of the Street Cup to purchase that last year, but am now looking at the Street Triple. Took an R for a test ride (2017 with low km), and just thought 'WOW'. But there is also a used 2017 RS available in my price range - would really appreciate your thoughts on R vs RS (just purely on what is practical for normal riding (not track or super high speed). I've seen other videos saying there is a tuning difference with the R having more usable torque in low and mid-range? Would really appreciate your opinion thanks (Cheers from NZ)
Yes I think the R is the one to have if you're road focussed and not a track fiend....
I just picked one up yesterday! :)
Love it already!
I must say though, after I tightened up the screws for the bar-end mirrors, there is quite a bit of vibration being put out...😒
There were no vibrations when I did the test-ride...
Will have to look into some bar-end weights.
Odd, no vibrations on mine or the loan bike from Triumph...maybe get the dealer to take a look???
At last, been looking out for this one especially as I have the 2016 r. I'm sure they will sell bucket loads of these. Great bike and great review as always.
Thank you Wyn, I'm sure you're right!
Ruddy bloody brilliant mate
Thank you - lots more to come on this bike....
Look forward to later up dates on this bike Mr Flyer
Lots more to come Vince!
This really has all the bells and whistles so it's right up there as a contender for my next "big" bike. The other bike I'm considering is the new to come in 2018 KTM 790R. As I've mentioned to you before in our little chats I'm a huge fan of twin cylinder bikes and in my mind these two would be in the same league and competing for the same market. At least they are in my mind. I'm hoping you'd get hold of that orange little beast as soon as it comes out and hear what you'd have to say about it. I do value your opinion greatly as it's more day to day use of the bike oriented than hooligan all the time cocky like some other reviews here on the net. They're good for a laugh but of no great significant value imo.
As to this new Street triple it does sound good, and this is from a guy who loves the sound of twins. Only thing about it is that it shines when rev'd hard, a concern as it gets you into silly speed mode when as you can get exiting sounds off a twin at lower revs, say 6k-8k and get a grin on your face. Still, must admit that that howl and smooth delivery must be addictive. Sadly they don't do demo rides here in my country as there isn't enough sales to justify that. These bikes come here mostly on order. Maybe I'll get a chance to ride one once I'm on holiday in the U.K. 😏
Thank you for your kind words as ever Stephen, good idea to get yourself a test ride when you come over, I think you'll love it!
another well built bike from Triumph and very good review by the Missenden Flyer ,i,ve ridden a lot of Triumphs through out my riding carrier the thunderbird tops my bill.
Three police cars in the first five minutes only looping Missenden ? Great views and review as always 👍
Tell me about it! Cheers :0)
Great review really enjoying your chanel can you tell me where you get those trousers from as they look great and have they got protection in many thanks tony
They're RST camo trousers - and yes, they are nomex (or whatever) lined they have knee protectors and pockets for hip protectors....
Hi TMF good review I've had my RS for 3weeks now loving it she's going in for first service this Wednesday and a new off road arrow exhaust can't wait 😁 by the way if you look under the seat cowl the is a disc with a slotted screwdriver blade pretty sure that's for adjusting the forks
Thanks Malcolm - I knew there'd be an answer to that!
Another great review TMF ...I'm sort of confused how they can get this under the price of The Bobber. Looks like cracking VFM. You do love your TFT displays...it must be not being able to read the GS's display... :) Loving the Scotland series. Waiting for Friday 13th ! Gt Missenden to Glasgow 383 miles.....doubt I'd have made it, even on a GS......TCRS
Thanks Paul - I agree, great value machine, priced to sell I guess. ....and a long ride on the big GS really is no effort :0)
Just looking to swap my Scrambler Cafe Racer for Street Triple RS; this review is brilliant and super helpful 👍👍👍
Good stuff! Cheers!
Which would you rather own, the new street triple RS or the Super Duke 1290 r?
Another great review by the way, bravo!
+Stephen Mark Not really a fair question given the KTM costs half as much again...but the KTM if money was no object...
Was looking forward to this one, though slightly disappointed you didn't compare the power spread of the RS to your 2012. I know you have it for a bit longer, so really not that disappointed :). Sounds like the bark is a bit louder than the previous generation exhaust, or is it deceiving me?
Looking forward for more, and hopefully less rozzers about next time haha!
Plenty more to come so don't be disappointed! ...and on the exhaust front this one sounds lovely but is waaaay quieter than my 2012 with the Arrows....
Great review, very eagerly antcipated. On paper at least the performance & handling of the Street Triple RS would appear to be similar to your Paingale 899. Their riding position & purpose are different of course but curious what you think, are they comparable ?
No way, the experience on the Panigale is something else, the Duke is much more difficult to ride but much more brutal - Not really comparable at all - the Triumph is smooth, comfortable and refined in comparison.....both brilliant machines given their design briefs...
gary silva Thanks TMF, I'd like to see a cafe variant of the Street Triple RS, drop bars, bikini fairing and tail tidy. That would improve the looks no end ;-) Cheers
Very very nice! Wish they do an 'up down' for my speed triple S, maybe they will soon! You think there is a big difference with power between the 765 and 1050?
Doesn't feel like it to me, I think the lighter weight of the Street makes up for the power difference - I'd take a Street over a Speed any day...
Don't say that!!!! Love my speed!
I still find those front lights a bit unattractive, but does give the Triumph some character, great review.
Thanks - and I'm with you, these new lights are horrible in my opinion.....
Dreaming of this bike. Could you review the s and r versions? can't find any reviews of them
Great review
They haven't been released yet so no one has been able to review them.
kedgeuk oh right fair enough
Beat me to it ;0)
Well, they have been released here in Belgium. I picked my S up last week.
Thanks Mate for getting back to me .
No probs...
Great review! How do you get Long term loan bikes from these dealers.. so far I've only seen Triumph do it with C2W
I don't do it via dealers, the Triumph factory have very kindly given me access to their press fleet of bikes...as for how you do that I don't know, they came to me!
Hey man love the reviews do you ever do older bikes? would to see you on an Aprilia sxv 550 :)
Thanks Justin, I haven't done older bikes but I do have a plan to do just that! Stay tuned....
Looks - and sounds - terrific. And probably has usable performance for public roads that you need to work to get the best whereas litre plus bikes hit sane limits with too little effort. I've seen some criticism that £10k's a lot for a 'middleweight', but this has the spec to justify it. In fact it looks 'better' than the more expensive speed triple. Shame the back brake isn't at least standard brembo - but other than that, great. I'll see if I can get a test ride from Pure Triumph @Woburn.
Yes I agree Gary, this is the ideal road bike with properly usable power....you'll love it!
Great review once again. I'm taking one out next weekend.
Quick question but can you fit an Abba stand on the Street '17 family?
+Nick Spiple Fan Cheers Nick, and yes you can but (annoyingly) you have to remove a couple of frame plugs that are bolted onto the swing arm pivots (at least on the RS you do)...
Thanks for the quick reply. Good to know that my stand won't be a wasted purchase if I do go down the Street Triple purchase route 😁
Roll on Saturday 🏍💨
:0)
So.........yesterday I rode the RS and the Speed R. I have to say that I was surprised by how close I rated them. But I have decided to go for the RS due to its weight, it's cornering capabilities (it's so confidence inspiring) and the TFT display. I have been crunching numbers and for all the extras I want to add it's cheaper to go for the RS than the R or the S.
So it has less Torque.......i can live with that. And it sounds soooooooo sexy at 11k revs 😁
I can't wait! Just have to wait for my nipper to finish nursery (January)
Bit of a wait but in the meantime I can day dream about it 😍
Looking forward to your TFT display film mate.
Ride to arrive 🏍💨
Oh......and the kicker? Mr other half likes it too. Always a bonus ☺️
As always a great review
I have no doubt this is a cracking bike to ride. My only disappointment is the looks, it's subtle changes to the previous generation. It was highlighted when I was at a Triumph dealership and we asked if he had the new Street Triple and it was parked up in a line of bikes next to us!! We never noticed it
I'm a big Triumph fan as I used to have one! I'm not hating them just saying. Perhaps a better colour scheme might help maybe
Enjoying the reviews fella top stuff x x
Thanks David, and I 100% agree with you on that - I don't much care for these matt colours and parking my 2012 in black and gold next to this....to my mind no contest!
Great review! Looking forward to watching the rest of this series. I will say, i am not a fan of electrics in bikes but this one does show off its quality. I think time and weather will expose any faults with the electrics - something the first owners will have to deal with.
Yes one of the perils of being an early adopter eh!
If given the choice, save a couple grand and get a 2016 new or this one? Look at one of these for my first bike. Always loved the look and sound of these bikes.
+yabazooee ...I'd get a 2012 on looks grounds, personally I'm not so keen on the styling/colour schemes of the later bikes (and all Street Triples are good - period).
I have no idea how anyone can thumbs down this or any of your reviews.
Thank you Anthony!
Australia is getting the A2 version also as the current A2 version is a good seller for them with our 3 year restriction period. Love the review and that triple growl ;)
Thanks Paulaus - I understand your name now :0) I love the internet, the fact you can watch this all the way down there....mind blowing....TMF
Would you consider this as a viable starter bike? I really don't want myself to die but I don't really like the 300 class bikes. Glad I found your channel, your motovlogs are quite nice.
Well I know some have, but personally I wouldn't recommend it, I just think a bike with over 100hp is too much as a first big machine....sorry about that (what's the rush though? give it 6 months on a 600 and you'll be ready)...
Been looking forward to your review of this bike . I ride a 2011 triple r every day, so will be interesting to hear how the rs compares to your r. Many thanks
I'm going to be doing a specific video on exactly that, currently in the schedule to publish on June 14th (I know, I know, sounds a long way off) - stay tuned!
Great review again , I agree about a tail tidy up , and how good is it going to sound with a another pipe on it lol
Pretty darned good I'd say!
Great Review Man... I want to know your thoughts on riding comfort for daily 6-7 hours of ride and opinion on cross country road trip of this new Street Triple RS... Thankful...
It's all day comfortable, I don't think you'll find a better naked bike from a comfy point of view - the only bikes that are more comfortable in my view are full on tourers like the BMW R1200RT...
Thanks for the reply... I appreciate it... I'll surely look for purchasing it as my crosscountry hooligan...!
Watched again - not just because it's another great review, but new RS arrives either Monday or Tuesday (depending on Triumph logistics company!)... Excited in 3...2...1...
Great stuff Yarek - exciting times waiting for a new bike eh!
Yeah, totally - can't wait to get back on a Street Triple! Was given Saturday as a pick up date as the bike arrived at the dealer this morning, so excitement level is at 9 right now :)
Love these reviews!! Brilliant reviews!!
Very kind of you - TMF
