Ds1 my favorite area is actually the unread burg. It has great lvl design and aesthetic, it has the dragon and multiple terrifyingly cool bosses. The windy characteristics and enemy placement really make you regret rushing in your first playthrough lol. Also the shortcuts are masterfully placed in usefulness and wonder inducing. Also the first time at ash lake is not far from an out of body experience.
4-1 is good, but Latria from Demon’s Souls is always gonna be my favorite area in that game. Souls has never scared me so well as the Illithid Guards in that first prison area. Bloody awesome.
I disagree with Anor Londo. Yah it’s nice visually, but the level design compared to other areas is just okay. Still pretty good, but levels like Undead Burg/Parish; Duke’s Archives; Painted World; Blighttown; Catacombs when it comes to raw level design are wayyyy better.
The look of anor londo was so relieving when I first arrived, finally no more walking around in jungles and wasted castles. We get a nice beautiful and bright area.
Yeah I actually really like Blighttown in the remaster version since the frame rate doesn't drop like it used to. But as an area I thought it to be the ugliest, dark, diseased, most disgusting place in Lordran which is a good thing. Like the player clearly doesn't belong there and it's such a contrast to Anor Londo
For Dark Souls II I'd go with Shrine of Amana, BEFORE YOU START THE RAGE, I acknowledge the fact that it's probably the Blighttown of DSII, but visually, I find it the prettiest. And an honorable mention would be Heide's Tower of Flames
I personally think that brume tower is the peak of ds2 level design, and imo in the top 3 areas of the whole trilogy. The easthetic, bosses, and of course the level design were all immaculate. My only gripe is that some of the enemies were kinda boring, but we still got some really good ones like the exploding barrel enemies and furnace giants that spew out lava, the burrowing mechanic was also really cool.
Nah. I go with Inner Ward all day. Good enemy placement, followed by a good knight fight and the most badass intro to a boss I’ve seen, combined with the penetrator set Easter egg and the amazing level design puts it up there puts it above 3-2 for me. My only issue with 3-2 was that one fucker up the staircase to Maneater.
Dark souls two I'd have give it to the frost dlc subtract unicorn haven I like how the map forces you to explore so you can see ava and the fact that the ivory king is a genuine hero unlike everyone else besides Artorias he willingly married a child of the abyss and built his throne above the gates to h*ll
I unironically agree. I beat the sunken and iron DLC before and had a miserable time so I was waiting for the Ivory one to suck ass and finish the game so I can move on. Turns out, it's one of the best designed areas in the entire game! Aside from reindeer fuck land I genuinely had the misery of the rest of DS2 lifted whilst playing it. Especially after stopping the blizzard and realising the whole area was changed - that mimic frozen in ice is amazing level design.
I would definitely say that each soulsbornelden has a specific area that is far better than the other, except for dark souls 2. Every area was spectacularly made and had good lore and gameplay. I couldn't say my favourite but I could definitely say my least favourite which would be the ancient dragon area past the floating islands. I die like 40 times there each run I do.
Blighttown is, without joke nor trolling, my favourite area in the from Software games. I played Dark souls, Dark souls 2 and Bloodborne yet, so it might change, but right now it is. But I agree that central yharnam is a masterpiece. At the other side, if Anor Londo is visually a great success, it is nothing more in terms of gameplay than a vast corridor with early Renaissance's aesthetic.
Anor Londo is almost as bad as Blighttown. It’s basically a straight run through. It doesn’t connect to any other level in a cool way, the enemies are boring and unvaried, the music is subpar. It looks pretty and has knights and robed dudes. That’s its whole thing.
Everyone has a different opinion for ds2. I personally love majula and think it's the best hub location of any dark souls game, the music, setting, and npcs all come together to make it my favorite

Not the biggest fan of these picks, personally I liked: demons' souls latria, dark souls duke's archives and dark souls 2 drangleic Castle way more. If DLC is included then 100 it changes to oolacile and eleum loyce.
1-3 in Demon's Souls is my favourite, with just how long and diverse it is, as well as the official you're chasing through the castle. Dark Souls is difficult for me, as I can't think of one area I absolutely love over the others as the early game feels like one massive level. It's gotta be the Painted World though, it just feels so complete. Dark Souls II doesn't have the best track record with areas, but yeah, Forest of Fallen Giants is amazing (I feel there's gonna be a running theme of me liking large areas with branching paths to explore). Bloodborne's areas were very samey to me, none stick out except the DLC (which I'm excluding here) and the first bit of Yharnam, which I'd say is the best. Dark Souls III is a bit too linear for my taste. I can't really think of an area that's an exception, except maybe the undead settlement, which is I guess my favourite in terms of gameplay. Aesthetically, Irithyl wins hands down out of all the games. Ignoring some of the enemy designs, Elden Ring has by far and away the best areas. So many good ones to choose from, and I think I'll go with the Altus plateau. Beautiful colours, almost has an actual town in it (sadly just inhabited by cannibalistic old ladies), and so many unique set pieces.
In my opinion the best one in Dark Souls which is the only Souls game that I've beaten the original Dark Souls is Anor Londo but Blighttown comes second

Anor Londo is iconic and nothing more. The level design is bland, it's enemy variety is bad, the enemies are bland, one of the two bosses located there are bad (Gwyndolin), and the archers are just horrid. They're good things like the loot, Ornstein and Smough, the sheer beauty, and amazing chest ahead but it isn't the best in Dark Souls I. I think the best should either be Undead Burg or Oolacile.
Anor Londo? the first time i saw it, i thought "they really ran out of money when they designed this" the only good thing about it is the background when you first moved into the Area, the rest is all empty nothingness.
