Thanks so much for this excellent video Reuben! I thought I was well versed in communicating through feelings but it has always felt lacking and your video has helped me pinpoint why. Identifying my needs behind my feelings is key and then communicating them effectively. I really liked your examples in this video and the the 5 step plan. I am taking a lot away from watching this today and two things I will note here: firstly to stop and think; ‘what am I feeling and what is the need behind that feeling’ and also; to ‘hear the need’ in others. If you watch the Marshall Rosenberg San Francisco Workshop he goes into this and explains he stops tribes from massacring each other by using nonviolent communication and just getting to what their real needs are. What an excellent tool for improving communication skills. I could apply NVC to many situations in my life right now and it would make such a difference. I've had some epic fails while trying to communicate my needs! Your video has brought awareness to what should be a top priority for everyone. Thank you :-) Keep making these tutorials, they're fab.
