That’s a good question. I did staple it and it worked really well. As for padding, I got the cheapest stuff from the fabric store and it was good. I’ll see if I can find out what it was.
I love DIY stuff, it’s so much better than off the shelf gear as you can make it precisely to your spec. I did the same as you and built my own desk with slide out keyboard tray along with a rack mount unit. Nice video editing skills too, especially on the hacks video
Sorry I didn’t reply. I must have overlooked this comment. I moved a lot of my builds to the blog portion of my site. You can find it here at www.nickiden.com/blog
Hi :D. I have some design plans on my website I believe :D. I don’t have any other videos of the build besides this one unfortunately. I am planning a new desk build soon which will have more footage :D
Like Chris Douglas said... The link is broken. nickiden.com is not working. Is there anywhere else to get the plans. I really like the layout of your desk. Thanks
Hey Bill. Sorry about the site. I’ve been having issues with the server and it might be a while till I get it back up. I’ll see if I can get you a dropbox link to the desk plans. I also have a new desk video coming hopefully this week. I will keep you posted
Its possible, use the left and right output cord from the audio mixer strait into your computer and set as microphone in. Worked for me when i used to record with a audio mixer
@@twst1 USB mixers usually don't have great mic pre's in them making sound pretty flat and boring, that will take more work in the mix to breathe life into the sound. Go for a Focusrite interface. If your budget is low (£100 - £350) Get a Scarlett 18i20, 8 High quality combo input Mic pre's, front panel monitoring, 2 headphone outs and much more. If your budget is higher (£350 - £700) Go for a Clarett 8Pre, higher end models use Thunderbolt for much reduced latency, 8 slightly higher quality mic pre's, a front panel DIM switch, and Focusrite EPIC "AIR" function (look it up its bad ass!) Both Interfaces Can provide 48 Volt phantom power and can be expanded by adat lightpipe (audio optical cable). Happy mixing :)
nick iden!! hey i broke my audio interface 2 months ago:( i have a job just caught up on bills and am beginning to save now, do u have any old gear you would sell?
You’re totally right. One solid cut would be better :D. I think I say that at the end of the video. I’m not a carpenter so there was a lot of experimenting involved haha. The good news is the desk still stands.
Hazard Mouth yeah I love seeing what people are up to on the RUclips :D. Keep me posted when ever you have new stuff and if you need anything v let me know :D
Those monitors were not designed to be placed sideways. Source: the manual and google. Should take you about 1 google search to find out why. Monitors like ns10's are designed to be able to be placed sideways. Hs8s are not. You are messing with the sweet spot and mid range when you do this
Presently they are standing up and they sound good. But in all honesty it has made very little difference with my mid range. We had this discussion a while back and I did some testing :D
dope desk i want to build this one day!!!!
You totally should. I posted a few plans on my site if you do build one www.nickiden.com/blog
Thanks. I miss this desk. I might need to build another like this one
Very nice! I've been looking into building one and this looks like a great design, well done!
Thanks :D. I must say the desk builds are one of my more favorite projects. You should totally build one for sure 👍
Nice build! Where did you get the long padded arm rest?
Thanks :D. I ended up wrapping a 2 by 4 in padding and picked up some fake leather to wrap it in.
@@nickiden I see, did you just staple the leather over the padding then? What kinda padding works best do you think?
That’s a good question. I did staple it and it worked really well. As for padding, I got the cheapest stuff from the fabric store and it was good. I’ll see if I can find out what it was.
@@nickiden I see! Thx, would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much. I love the diy videos too. I wish I filmed more of the build but oh well :). That’s a great idea with the sliding keyboard
I built a desk, I just need more stuff to put in it, lol.
Haha story of my life
@@nickiden the struggle is real, lol.
I find alot of the desks can’t be taken apart afterwards.
There are impact nuts. If those were used more often. On the legs for instance. You can wrench off the legs every time you are gonna move.
Yeah for sure, or if you do take it a part it can only be disassembled a few times because the wood is soft.
I'd love to try this build. The link in the description seems broken, is there a live link out there? Thanks

nice I'm about to build my third.
How did the third desk build work out for you?
You look like you should be an actor
Haha thanks.
Hello Friend. I myself would like to produce a rack like this and by in my room. Would you have the design of this desk with the films available?
Hi :D. I have some design plans on my website I believe :D. I don’t have any other videos of the build besides this one unfortunately. I am planning a new desk build soon which will have more footage :D
Brilliant and excellent work..👍👍
Thanks so much :D

Hey Nick
is it possible to share the Dropbox link in the info section on this video.
Thanks and stay safe.
Sweet desk, man! Awesome diy
Hanging with the Bitengs thanks :)
Can i record voice with audio mixer cos i dont have interface
Its possible, use the left and right output cord from the audio mixer strait into your computer and set as microphone in. Worked for me when i used to record with a audio mixer
Yeah focusrite r the way, can go wrong with the 18i20 ;)
i'm curious about this as well...especially if you have an USB mixer...how's THAT work? (full disclosure...i don't, just confused)

Oh no that sucks about you audio interface. I just sold a bunch of gear to buy new gear. What do ya need :D
3:57 there are soo many pieces of wood... why not one solid cut? :'D no added support will fix that.. What do I know, I'm only a carpenter.
