I might be interested if they were Skaven but unfortunately I find Stormcast to be really boring. Even if they were a faction I was interested in, I'm also not a fan of blind boxes. Lego went from blind bags to blind boxes for their "collectible" minifigures but each box has a unique QR code on them you can scan to find out what's inside if you want to. It's a nice system so you don't end up getting lots of multiples.
What i find interesting about this.....if we get another set of models that are bad guys, say Darkoath perhaps - then what COULD end up happening is we may see a new starter set for Warcry very similar to the newly announced one for Kill team. Where you have both hero boxes in the set + MDF terrain - Just a theory i'm throwing out there...
Yep I like that idea too… BUT that’s what Crypt of Blood was essentially. Don’t think they’ll release another small starter set. Until a new edition that is.
Seems like something they could be setting up to do on the regular. Make the cash on the gacha boxes then make it again on the starter boxes while reusing the sculpts. I'm not messing with 1/24 odds if I want the whole thing so hopefully they do make it a trend.
So basically if you have Dominion and Calthia, you just need to get the free instore Liberator to make this warband. Sounds like a cheaper/easier deal than buying these blind bags.
No guarantee of not getting doubles, even if you buy the whole box. That's a big pass for me. I certainly hope that this doesn't become the new GW trend.
If these are sold on the counter in shops outside of GW’s own, I can see these being a decent impulse buy. Similar to those LEGO blind bags, they’ve got a lot of character to work as a pull-in for newcomers to the hobby.
The warhammer heroes space marines and chaos Space marines ended up in the new kill team box. Chances are high that this will happen to those sigmarines as well.
Definitely less keen on it since it's full gacha. I'm somewhat mid on Stormcast on the whole, so just having more of the same vibe rather than letting them stand out is disappointing. I do like the one with the dreads pulled back though, it's a nice action pose.
That one kind of reminds me of Brightshield from WH:U in pose but brought uptodate. I kind of like the Vindictor with the spear but its very much the same as the existing champion sculpt.
I've seen the whole case go for around £34-£36 lfgs prices with 20% off which actually isn't bad in GW money (puts the individual boxes themselves at around £4.50 each)
I bought the first Warcry big box and all the warbands from the original/season 1(?) rulebook back when they were available at retail in 2018 or 2019. Thought I'd pop my head back in to see how the game's going and... yeah. I think I'll stick with what I have. I treated it more as a one-off board game, though, and am not an AoS/GW guy anyway but good luck to those who are. 🙂 I plan on using my stuff in other, miniatures-agnostic, games or playing with '2+ Toughs' solo rules 😊
@OffMetaMusings I'm just not a fan of the blind-buy distribution model. I liked how you could buy a box and have a whole warband. Maybe if these were like $2 each... but even then, I feel it's a bit too close to gambling to be appropriate for the younger fans. (I have absolutely no problems if adults want to gamble, I just feel it's a bit unethical, maybe even exploitative, to expose young people to it). Don't take me too seriously. Maybe this is just the way people like it now and I'm living in the past or have unrealistic expectations 🤷♂️
Hrmmmm, not sure I like the potential of the rarest guy having some busted rules and further increasing cost (either from cases or Ebay/resellers) of optimal competitive Warcry needing Bladeborn or Baldeborn-like models.
idk if the rules will be busted or not but the mini is close enough to a standard knight arcanum that you can just convert it. As a side note, out of the top 12 most used allies in the game, bladeborn only hit 3 of those spots so their rules would have to be crazy good to actually use.
I hate this, however, to those asking, no, it is not classed as gambling (at least not in the UK). For something to be defined as gambling it must include a risk of loss. As you’re always gaining something (a mini), it’s not classed as gambling, despite it being random and potentially not the one you wanted. It’s not randomness that makes something gambling, it’s the potential to end up with nothing (it’s for this reason why video games like FIFA can get away with horrendous practices).

Real gacha, real trash The team rules are interesting, few seem tempting for a dip into single mini boxes, Annihilator, bow and sword are all cool guys that I don't want 5-10 of each
There are bound to be dozens of them om ebay once the box is released. Might be the cheapest way to get Annihilators or Vindictors for warcry considering they come one a box
Good question. As the AoS version of Kill Team, it feels a hell of a lot like the starter game for getting into AoS but Spearhead just does that job so much better. Now I’m thinking it doesn’t have a real place unless it develops into a properly unique game.
It's totally not dying; GW would no way spend the man-hours on getting their guys to update a hundred profiles write and test new rules for minis, add two new factions and completely overhaul another every six months on a dead game (having seen the end of life of several GW games in my time, this in no way looks like it). And with 67 factions already in Warcry, the last thing that it needs is just more bloat. I do however think that we are entering a different phase in the Game's lifecycle where we see less *new* product and more actual faq and errata support which I'm totally fine with. The fanbase is pretty difficult to please at times; People complained that it was too much when they were getting new product every three months and now they complain that they arent getting new product XD
I haven’t done Gacha blind style gaming since I played Magic when I was a kid. My own children love opening packs of Pokémon cards. I get that. It’s like a lotto ticket. But a pack of Pokémon cards is like five bucks. I don’t know how much these guys are going to be, but having to buy a case to get the same dopamine hit does not seem worth it lol
46% of getting 2 of the most common and most uninteresting minis, that you absolutely can convert from basic Vindicators and Liberators with no effort. Duh, you could even convert them from free GW store minis! :D That's just a bad chance, but if the Hero7 warband will actually be playable, I'm totally gonna convert the minis I have into them 1:1 ;)
I think in the end, just by virtue of being SCE you will only be able to run maybe 5-6 of them in a warband at once. Though they are apparently out now in Europe and the US but I haven't seen any scans of the rules yet XD
@@OffMetaMusings yeah, I just saw 2 cards from some vendor sites. Wizard 210, Archer 230. Both with hero runemarks, so I'm guessin similiar case like in Questors. I see they are out to buy on sites, but delivery says december 2024
I kind of wouldn't mind if they were all amazing sculpts though I expect EBay to be flooded with a tonne of this product real cheap; might be the cheapest way to build an Annihilator unit
Huh, weird. I wouldn't think those would sell for Stormcast. Why not sell it as a whole Warcry warband in one box? Why spin the random chance wheel of which model you get? Why not just let people buy the characters individually at the comparatively lower pricepoint when compared to other models in the range? I felt the same way about the 40k ones, despite buying some, but only because I was too slow to buy the whole set of the Deathguard collection from the GW online store... which is now to be released as a Killteam anyway. Are they making it all up as they go? I thought they were meant to have a plan, but if the plan ends up just one day re-releasing these as a full squad anyway, what's the point of this gacha nonsense?
im pretty excited for these! it makes it easier to get single units to swap out for different roles without having to buy an expensive box with ten extra models you wont use, especially for a warcry faction with smaller number warbands.
No guarantee to get all the minis, this alone is a super hard pass for me. Also boring stormcast models. I hope these dont sell well. You could kitbash any of these models with some random bits on a stormcast model anyway.
I fundamentally don't get the logic of making these random. Warhammer isn't a game that supports this. When you need a model you need a specific number of that model. I get that their goal is to make money, but they already charge an arm and a leg for their plastic. I don't actually think this will make them more than just putting them all in one box and selling that. When they do come in a box, I'm in, they look good. If they do the mdf starter set like they did with kill team, fantastic. Gambling however, poorly executed gambling no less, why? Couldn't these have been prize packs for in store tournaments or painting contests or something. Maybe a free throw in for purchases above X and oh look, you can get a rare one. It just makes no sense.
Yeah that's what I was thinking; you could totally just use the stock minis for most of these and noone would actually know the difference. Would have been cool if they were more like the plague marines
I get that they are the posterboys but unless the minis are unique and interesting there isnt much of a draw. They totally can do interesting SCE minis (the new character on gryphon being an example) so more of that would be cooler.
RRP seems to be £45 though I've seen case preorders go for £36 or £4.5 a box; It is the cheapest way to get ahold of SCE singles BUT having no guarantee of what you are getting for pretty average sculpts isn't great.
What I don't like is that you're not guaranteed to get all models when you buy 8 boxes. I think I'll pass.
Just wait a few years, and they'll probably become a starter warband for warcry or something.
I hope there's a lot of negative outcry so they don't have these release quantities again.
And i hope that they dont link poor sales to the fact that this is also a warcry product...
I hope GW fucks up and adds the ability to scan these boxes by QR or barcode so people can just buy what they want
I might be interested if they were Skaven but unfortunately I find Stormcast to be really boring. Even if they were a faction I was interested in, I'm also not a fan of blind boxes. Yeah that's probably a better system. idk why they didn't just follow the previous; buy a case, get everything+1 route.
Not in EUROPE!
Good video. Those models are great for OPR Skirmish
OPR is slowly winning me over from the GW grasp
@@Jeff_rogers_gaming Its a great alternative. I will get 2/3 OPR games done in the same time as 1 40K battle

I kind of like a whole bunch of those bear heads they have in there so that might be something interesting to pick up for modelling.
I am the target audience for this product. My SCE army is all thunderstrike. As long as each model has a helmet option I will chase this product.
At leady from the wizards sprue; it looks like they might!
