  • As part of my niece's Christmas present we promised to take her to visit Monkey World, so we thought we would make a weekend of it and visit Bristol Zoo whilst in the area.
Opening at 9am (the earliest opening in England), we headed into the zoo and straight into the Twilight House. At this time of the morning the lights are on and most of the animals are still active. Here we saw the Eastern Quolls, sand cat, Malagasy jumping rats and the amazing Aye-Ayes. This is the definite highlight of the zoo.
The other real favourite of mine is the walk-through fruit bat enclosure. Seeing these animals hanging and flying past you is an amazing feeling.
Also on offer are yellow footed rock wallabies, pygmy hippos, tapirs and gorillas. We managed a glimpse of Afia (the gorilla born through Caesarean) clinging onto a keeper.
Bristol Zoo is well worth visiting, and we hope to get back again this year to see the Aye-Ayes!
