    Since I had to drop this video early, the Poll results didn’t have as much of a chance to receive a fair amount of votes at 2:03. Side Effects has now doubled the amount of Lucky Girl votes, but it still isn’t as big of a margin as Hunted and Kevin 11 were in their own polls.

      Secrets has the best representation of Vilgax because of the buildup throughout the season of his return and the dichotomy of him and Ben. Throughout the first season we’ve seen Ben grow as a hero and get used to his powers and fighting a different assortment of villains. They might have given trouble but he was able to hold his own.
      Vilgax is calculating, cruel, powerful and knowledgeable, but most importantly he has decades of experience and seeing him destroy Ben just shows how Ben has so much more to learn about being a hero and the omnitrix (which Vilgax also knows more about)

      @InitialPC 4 года назад +72

      @@khalidahmed8402 I agree that Secrets is possibly the best (to me) but I also think the one where he teams up Kevin 11 is good because it more properly showcases his intelligence and knowledge of the Omnitrix and his cunning and so on.

    The original Vilgax was a classic. A force to be reckoned with that Ben couldn't beat, couldn't outsmart, couldn't escape. Blum's VA work was fantastic, and that villain monologue is honestly fantastic, even if it is the typical bad guy evil plan speech. Vilgax was this kind of cosmic horror-lite, representing a part of the world Ben didn't understand and couldn't beat on his own.
    (Also, the talking to ben in his sleep bit was kind of a Cthulhu thing to do. Also, anyone who's played D&D may recognize his alliance with Rojo to be a great old one warlock pact, complete with eldritch blast, a detail that makes this funnier is that Vilgax ends up on the other end of a similar relationship with Dagon later in the series.)
    Edit: that's not even getting into the fantastic character design, making unclear as to whether or not his arms are made of muscle or tentacles wrapped into an arm shape... or how the technology of his drones and ship are fantastic, being this techno-organic look that feels original and isn't derivative of HR Geiger.

    The issue with the watch just sliding off had such an easy fic that it's honestly amazing that none of the writers thought of it. We see in Secrets of The Omnitrix that Azmith disables the self destruct by removing the dial but the actual band stays attached to Ben's wrist. When they go to Primus the dial could have just detached itself and flew off and then Azmith could have just had a spare band that he kept around just in case of emergencies and Vilgax could have stolen one of those spare bands and then just needed the dial itself, meaning that when Ben gave up the Omnitrix he only had to remove the dial and then he could have removed the dial from the ultimatrix and inserted it into the omnitrix and the omnitrix could then have changed to look like the ultimatrix, like how it changed when Ben first put it back on. It's an easy fix.

    • @jacobfoxfires964

    I feel like I could do a whole essay on what makes Vilgax such an amazing villain. He's clearly heavily inspired by Cthulu, both in his appearance and the fact that Ben first meets him in visions and dreams. Seeing him here in his first battle with Ben, he inspires fear and defies understanding much like his Lovecraftian counterpart, albeit for different reasons. He arrives in a vehicle clearly alien in design and completely blatant in announcing his intent to destroy. The moment he steps out, his shear stature alone betrays his overwhelming confidence and power. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this first battle is that he doesn't actually use any gadgets for the majority of it, outside of the drones and his own mechanically augmented body. Ben prides himself on his wide skill set across all of his alien forms. Even so, Vilgax fights with brute strength, while Ben is unable to land a meaningful hit, as if Vilgax is boring a hole straight through all the experience he's managed to accumulate over the last season. It's all he can do to slow Vilgax down and get away. There's a certain sport to his movements, like a gladiator who's won countless battles. He doesn't necessarily take joy in combat, but he nevertheless seems to come alive as he breaks Ben down. He's a warlord through and through, single-minded in his ambition and ruthless in his means. In his mind, he's going to get the Omnitrix, and anything or anyone he breaks in the process is just dust in the wind. The moment he deactivates the Omnitrix with just a touch, it creates a huge rip in what we thought we knew about the watch up to this point. It's perhaps the first time when Ben has felt completely at the mercy of a villain. With everyone else, he just had to think on his feet until he could go hero or get bailed out by Max and Gwen. With Vilgax, though, he finds himself face-to-face with someone who truly knows what they're doing. On his ship, he finds himself restrained and vulnerable to a variety of alien tools and weapons meant to pry the Omnitrix off without any regard to his wellbeing, as well as an apocalyptic vision of Vilgax's Omnitrix army. Overall, his mere presence in the original series announces an extraordinary challenge for our heroes before it even begins, and like with many great villains, those battles are often less about actually beating Vilgax and more about keeping him back and surviving long enough to figure out how. Honestly, he's hands-down one of the best villains in animated media I've ever seen, and especially from Cartoon Network.

    Vilgax is definitely the most intimidating in this Show, especially how he can defeat most of Ben’s aliens like Diamondhead instantaneously. Something Ben corrected later on when he mastered Diamondheads powers and defeated a supposedly more powerful Vilgax who had taken the power of warriors he challenged across the galaxy. All things considered I would say he is the best here.
    But I won’t deny the reboot didn’t take an interesting direction with Vilgax, it didn’t just make him a by the book villain, but rather a mentor improving his opponent’s capabilities, at least from what I remember, I haven’t seen the reboot in a while.

    You know, the scene you talk about at 19 minutes kinda also displays a lot about his character. In many modern shows with a villian whenever the hero gives up and agrees to the bad guys deal, the bad guy normally just breaks the deal, kills the family then attacks the hero. Ive seen a lot of that lately. But in ben 10 Vilgax actually keeps his word and spares Bens family, and would of most likely not gone after them again (at least directly) as long as they don't go after him. Showing that Vilgax despite being evil, does have some form of warrior honor.

    • @MageBurger
      @MageBurger 3 месяца назад

      Adding onto that, it’s a great compliment to him being a worthy rival to Max Tennyson. He has technological prowess, great leadership and later on even fantastic quick thinking teamwork in a situation where he has to make a lot of compromises he knows he doesn’t like.
      Vilgax isn’t a brute. He only fights only when he needs to (evidenced by him initially sending henchman and bits through the whole 1st season).
      Lastly, zoning in on the 2nd season finale, his code of honour makes him a much stronger contrast to the boiling blooded child that Kevin 11 was, making their dynamic much more interesting.

    Yes, Vilgax after the OS was turned somewhat into a bumbling buffoon.
    The OS made it seem like Vilgax conquered a few galaxies or at least much of the Milky Way and was gearing up to conquer the rest of the universe hence why he wanted the Omnitrix.
    After the OS, they not only took away his knowledge of how the Omnitrix works but it is revealed that he only ever conquered 10 planets in his entire career as an intergalactic warlord. (Its important to note Vilgax according to Omniverse has been active since at least the 18th century AD.) It made me wonder why he was so feared that the mention of his name got everyone shook.

    The OG Vilgax intimidation factor could also be because Ben is at his most inexperienced. He only has access to 10 aliens, Doesn't have a ton of experience with those 10, hasn't been off planet yet so he's still unaware of the galaxy, no Plumbers experience, no alternate versions of himself, no real fighting skills as a human, still relatively new to being a superhero, and he's still a kid who is scared of aliens.

    I don't really like the Alien Force version of Vilgax. The episode, "Primus" just kinda ruins him.
    For those who don't know, he doesn't know how to use the Omnitrix in that episode. As shown here, he effortlessly switches Ben back to his human form. Or he claims that unlocking the master control is child's play in "Back with a vengeance". But in Alien Force he doesn't know how to turn into aliens. And the different omnitrix is not a fair argument because in the same season in the episode in which Ben gets his hand cut off, some random kids find his severed hand and instantly figure out how to use the Omnitrix.

    Loved this episode. The form swapping animations were something I never really appreciated, but now? That’s a beautiful episode.
    My ONE very small gripe is that I wish Fourarms fought Vilgax. It always stuck out in my head that Ben never got to use his strongest form on him outside of that one dream episode, and it would’ve been so dope to see Vilgax overpower him. (He might have been the only alien besides Wildmutt he didn’t actually fight? Which makes me think that Fourarms was planned to be Ben’s lifeline against Vilgax). But that’s a very minor thing. I suspect Four Arms wasn't used because of the possible reasons: a) his voice actor may not have been available for that episode. Richard McGonagle's name wasn't listed in the credits for Four Arms for the episode. Or b) it was probably a production or story choice that Ben shouldn't use Four Arms that much to give Vilgax the spotlight. Even if Ben used Four Arms I think Vilgax would have still defeated him. Or there could be any other reason that I can't think of at the moment. Just thought of some reasons I thought made sense

      As for the voice actor, it seems like they were fine with all the other aliens? They could have just kept him silent during his scuffle? (though I think I remember hearing him in this one anyway)
      I like to think Four Arms would be able to match Vilgax in strength somewhat, but the latter’s hundreds of years of experience let him utterly dominate their battles.

    This was absolutely the best version of Vilgax. He was an imposing presence that spoke with ruthless determination, you KNEW he was a big deal and this episode shows that he is every bit as formidable as he seemed. He isn't just strong either, he is strategic, he tracks Ben and lures him out, then overpowers him in battle and finally threatens his family to make him surrender. Vilgax represents the combined threat of a true equal in terms of physical power and the knowledge and experience that Ben does not have. He can tank almost anything thrown at him and dish it out with brutal force. That and he knows the Omnitrix inside and out means he is actually at a decisive advantage over Ben, he loses because he is overconfident and Ben and Max are resourceful enough to squeak out a win.
    Later versions water down Vilgax and it sucks, the warlord Vilgax in Alien Force isn't horrible, but it contrasts with this monster in the original series and he just lacks the villainous presence needed of an arch-villain. Instead it was the Highbreed that replaced Vilgax as the greatest threat in the universe and while they were certainly monstrous villains, their motivation was idiotic, obsessed with racial purity and dying out because of inbreeding... really...?

    Idk, Vilgax' characterization kinda goes downwards the further you go in the series, the first Vilgax was the most menacing and had the cooles design imo

    One thing I think people overlook in this episode is Ben's ability to think of ways to fight Vilgax on the fly, whilst the omnitrix is giving him random aliens and almost zero time to strategize. Ben's tactical skills and ability to come up with an attack plan on the spot, are some of his underrated skills.

    The omnitrix being like a living creature that stuck to Ben's arm on the pilot was amazing till the alien force that really was a dissapointent.

      I always liked the idea that the Omnitrix grows with Ben as he aged and I would have preferred it if he had kept the original Omnitrix and have it grow with him as the series went on, eventually looking like it did in "Ben 10,000" and "Ken 10", rather than it randomly changing shape in AF or getting replaced in UA and OV.

    i always liked the idea that vilgax was always straight capping when he would talk about how he is a "master of the omnitrix" like someone on the internet who thinks they know everything because they seen a video or tweet about something
