Can't believe there's someone on RUclips who makes videos about Beyond Belief. Such strong childhood memories coming back of watching this far too late at night (also, A Haunting). Big ups. ❤️ I'll never forget watching the episode with the Curse story at 4am, downstairs, by myself. When that thing shows up in the mirror with the music sting I almost ceased.
Yes that one was so scary! I'm glad these videos give you nostalgia. I'm more or less on a mission to create a space to talk about all the random and obscure things that most people forget about or don't know exist. 😂 Thank you for coming along for the ride.
I haven't watched one of your videos in a bit, because I'm a dummy. RUclips is just so awful right now, so I will be hiding out on your channel catching up. Your voice and way of talking is very calming. Also, I want to squish your kitten! My puppy is actually napping on the floor right by me as I watch this. :)

That would be a great title track lol. I say stuff would make great band names all the time on and off camera and get varying looks of confusion from people. 😂

Great video, I love Beyond Belief. But, you should totally watch GWTW at least once. The technical aspects alone make it a must see for anyone who loves film. Also, while it doesn't condemn the South, it is much more subversive of the Old South mythology than many people realize. Mammy, while yes a slave for the first half of the film, is also a black woman who talks back to the white people, sometimes very pointedly. Which wasn't something often depicted on screen at the time. Second, it is a big black man that saves "someone"(spoiler) from rape. In the culture at the time, it was the opposite, they were teaching the idea that white women were being raped by big black men, which they used as an excuse for lynchings. Also, the film came out at a time when the Klan was very active. Many people don't realize that the 2nd generation of the Klan was very much against Catholics and Jews. By making the world's most famous Southern Belle an Irish Catholic, GWTW attacks at the heart of the Klan ideology of WASP supremacy . Lastly, the main "heroes" of the film, Scarlett and Rhett, are very clearly outsiders in the culture of the Old South. Neither have any of the qualities that the moonlight and magnolias crowd would expect of a Southern Belle and Gentleman, and their embrace of the "New South" made them the most successful. They even get a dig in at groups like the UDC that makes them look foolish. One of the most pompous characters is a member of absurdly named "The Association for the Beautification of the Graves of Our Glorious Dead."
Interesting... I'll probably watch it eventually since it is a historical film for sure. I will probably need to break it up into a couple sittings though because it is hella long. 😂
