I have been going to Hangzhou every year since 2010 with my hubby ;-) ( covid lockdowns excluded) so know it well and ALWAYS fly Cathay lol. So glad they are phasing out the regional A333s, I really do not like them. If you go back to Hangzhou with 6'4" I recommend you stay at the Capitol Westlake (convenient to the Line 1 metro and Westlake) and try this restaurant for the best Hangzhou cuisine!!! : Hangzhou Restaurant, 205 Yan'an Rd, HuBin ShangQuan, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, 310001 I was surprised cabin staff took orders for meals by FF status, really new idea .... I bet you were happy about that !!!!! The pagoda you went to is amazing, and yes, we walked back from there to Westlake (we were staying at Sofitel) and sweated our asses off too lol. Are you planning to go see the clay warriors in Xi'an? Let me know and I can give you some tips 🙂

Hangzhou is hubby's hometown so yeah got the insider knowledge lol. If you go to Xi'an take the Cathay flight direct to XIY, don't do domestic airline flights as they are always badly delayed. Trust me, if you go there you will be blown away with an eyeball view ... so much better than pictures.

Most sites like Expedia or Google Flights will show you the cheapest airline selling that particular flight. In this case, an Air China ticket is cheaper on this Cathay flight. Other than that you just gotta search and search, trial and error 😂 There’s no short cut.

yes you do get a pillow in business class. Can’t remember if you get a blanket though on an ultra-short. You certainly do on a regular short like to Bangkok and Tokyo. Not economy though (available on request)

If you’re going to enjoy a meal or have lounge access. I would arrive 6:10-6:30am. If not I would get there at 7:10am. Give it 15 mins for check in. 10 mins for security. Another 15 mins to get to the international security and immigration. Should be in the duty free by 7:50am :) Plane should be around 8:30am

Only works for codeshare flights! Cathay is not a partner with any Indonesian airlines so no can do. For example Perth to HK, cheaper to book via Qantas.com but operated by Cathay.
for halal you need to request. For vegetarian meals it’s on the menu on a long haul flight (no need to pre-order but for strict vegetarians order anyway in case they run out). On a short flight like this one you need to pre-order
It is unbelievable that Cx still using 330 to fly short Haul flights , both business and economic products look pretty old and outdated indeed, and I used to fly cx Shanghai Hongkong routes, comparing with China eastern which is very competitive in terms of MU using new aircraft while flying between Hongkong S and hanzhou Route sometimes.Jayden you should have a go , try the other airline next time whenyou visit the mainland
a massive new terminal opening next year :) Terminal 2 Rumours are Skyteam and Star Alliance would move there. Hence they’re reluctant in reopening their lounges since Covid. Skyteam use Plaza Premium/Qantas (those flying China Eastern, KLM and Air France). For Star Alliance only SQ reopened and they didn’t even renovate.

Another great trip report/vlog JW. I do agree with you, that cheescake in the lounge is the best, you certainly enjoyed. It's so good to see you travel with your Mum! Always nice to hear the Aussie accent from the flight deck! The city tour looked amazing, so funny "I'm sweating my ass off", so Aussie!! It's quite a modern city for China. Love the robot, I've seen them here in Sydney restaurants, serving food at the end of the pandemic. Keep up the great work JW!!
We're off to Fukuoka tomorrow on a 436-seater B777-300! And it's packed to the brim according to Expert Flyer. We are also flying in economy- can't wait 🤣 I remember seeing a robot once in a Din Tai Fung in World Square. That was my first experience with a waiter robot 🤖 Thanks James

There is actually a version of the same plane that has premium economy behind it 33K. Yours is 33E/33J which also appears on 香港 HKG🇭🇰- MNL马尼拉🇵🇭 replacing the usual 33B 33P. I wonder if the Taiwanese CI 中華航空 A330-300 can beat this one.

yes you do get a pillow in business class. Can’t remember if you get a blanket though on an ultra-short. You certainly do on a regular short like to Bangkok and Tokyo. Not economy though (available on request)

They don’t switch. Cathay cargo pilots fly the 747 only. Still the same company though

Quite long. While some A330s are old and retirement is ongoing, some CX A330 are actually newer than some A350s!

6’4 has a full time job in Hong Kong. Parents have both retired. Making videos is my ‘full-time job’ which I love and enjoy😄 May seem easy but there’s a lot behind such as replying to comments, messages, emails etc. daily
As well as editing, booking flights and hotels (which requires a lot of research and scheduling with my personal life)

Hey Jayden i have an international flight from Adelaide to Singapore next Friday morning. Our flight leaves Adelaide at 9.10am what time would I need to arrive at the airport?
If you’re going to enjoy a meal or have lounge access. I would arrive 6:10-6:30am. If not I would get there at 7:10am. Give it 15 mins for check in. 10 mins for security. Another 15 mins to get to the international security and immigration. Should be in the duty free by 7:50am :) Plane should be around 8:30am

Only works for codeshare flights! Cathay is not a partner with any Indonesian airlines so no can do.
For example Perth to HK, cheaper to book via Qantas.com but operated by Cathay.

for halal you need to request. For vegetarian meals it’s on the menu on a long haul flight (no need to pre-order but for strict vegetarians order anyway in case they run out). On a short flight like this one you need to pre-order

It is unbelievable that Cx still using 330 to fly short Haul flights , both business and economic products look pretty old and outdated indeed, and I used to fly cx Shanghai Hongkong routes, comparing with China eastern which is very competitive in terms of MU using new aircraft while flying between Hongkong S and hanzhou Route sometimes.Jayden you should have a go , try the other airline next time whenyou visit the mainland

Rumours are Skyteam and Star Alliance would move there. Hence they’re reluctant in reopening their lounges since Covid. Skyteam use Plaza Premium/Qantas (those flying China Eastern, KLM and Air France). For Star Alliance only SQ reopened and they didn’t even renovate.
