    What I learned, or rather re-learned is that Alekhine was on the ball from move one in every game. He was there to win, and the slightest mistake or weakness from any opponent was punished without ceremony. What a brain! The greatest genius who ever sat at a chessboard!!

    Hi mato, I think you need to have a 100.000 subscribers. You are deserving 100.000 subscribers more than most of the youtubers who has more subscribers than you.

    I think you need to know what you are doing before you start opening up the pawns around your King. Alekhine knew exactly what he was doing. Amazing game!

    I learned that Strategic waiting moves doesn't always work.. Especially against a Tactical player like Alexander Alekhine.

    Was that the same variation he played before? Not quite. It was just the Saem-isch.
    Thanks for showing this one.

    What did I learn? Answer- It is not always good to think that I can defeat Alekhine. ☺

  • @pneumatic00
    @pneumatic00 7 лет назад +4

    Screw around with Alekhine and wait for him to make a mistake and his hands will be around your throat. That cannot be a good strategy against an Alekhine.

    This is the way that I play chess -- strip away the defenders around the opposing king (even if doing that requires a sacrifice) and then launch a mating attack.

    2:17 c5 should be played. when pawn storm comes without a "dead" center. then you hit the center!

    Mato, What's the difference between "Queen's gambit accepted" & "Queen's gambit declined". U used this many times for many other gambit also.

    • @MatoJelic
      @MatoJelic  8 лет назад +8

      The difference is in the accepting

    • @bun182
      @bun182 8 лет назад +1

      dxc4 accepts but allows white to play e3 opening the bishop/gaining centre control.. i think.. i'm not a great player but i believe that's the idea

    • @nikolaneberemed
      @nikolaneberemed 7 лет назад +1

      To accept a gambit means to capture the offered pawn. Declining is the opposite.

    I know mato's rating is on the FAQ, but is it his peak rating, or has he been higher?

    • @simon_patterson
      @simon_patterson 8 лет назад +1

      Mato's rating was 10 times that once, but it was when his mother was in charge of the ratings.

    Too many waiting moves and it was not the right time to do waiting moves with all those pieces on the board

    • @sundarpichai940
      @sundarpichai940 8 лет назад

      Right, I do at most one waiting move. If the position that I'm imagining does not appear immediately, I abort. I'm not an expert, but I am the big chess champion on the graveyard shift at work! Speaking of which, I know I've shared this story before but I actually credit my improvement 100% with Mato's videos. At work, we're a group of patzers (a term I know Mato does not like) and we play merely for fun. However, just from watching Mato's videos, I've gotten to the point where no one can beat me at work and the other guys generally don't like to play me anymore.

      Michael lol yaah I can understand that, its same thing with my friends at a middle eastern cafe we play at. Mato and Kingcrusher have helped me reach a 1700 fide rating now in the past two years.
