We live in a world where the SEC all time passing leader is breaking down 20-25 passes of an ugly football game. We really are in the golden age of CFB content
I'm kinda done with the RPO's. At least until we can get the offense going. Just let JA manage the offense, handing off to the RBs or hitting passes that JA is comfortable with. Simplify things until he gets his confidence back.
Great stuff Aaron! Us OU fans just need to give Arnold time. He's super young, and their top 4/5 receivers are hurt right now. On top of a brand new OC and starting OL. Gonna take time! Let's just hope the SEC gauntlet doesn't shatter the program lol.
@dannyjohnson5752 ignorant. You think a true freshman Hawkins or a 7th year Casey Thompson coming off an ACL are going to be that much better? The main issue is OU can't run the ball and our backup WR are trash. So no QB will be great when they don't have good WR and an effective run game. It's way too early to pull the plug on Arnold.
Thank you for being honest sometimes its good to hear your guys are doing something piss poor like the route or the RB being slow out to the flat. These are easy fixes and we need push form the line and i think we can get rolling, great video!
I wish i could watch a game replay from the field view. Watching on tv you cant see how the whole play is setup like you do here. The offense looks much better than it appeared on tv schematically. Thanks for the calming video. I need to watch this at the spa lol.
Here’s my analogy of this video- All my usual OU football podcasters wrote me a prescription to take this breakdown medicine, promising me it would heal me up quickly. They were right, this was exactly the medicine I needed. I think I’m finally ready to watch the Tulane game tomorrow. Boomer!!
Great work. Learned a lot! Makes you realize how teams can really improve through a szn. Arnold still getting his feet wet but was much better than originally thought. Gotta get some weapons back and develop a run game
Please do this again. Great to watch despite the fact I don't understand the low hole and a few other things as of yet. Will definitely watch more OU featured stuff. Hoping we can figure it out a bit more so we don't get boat raced by Tennessee.
Seeing plays that were there to be made speaks to the execution issues coaches and players talked about. Have to clean it up real real quick, thanks for doing this.
Thx for the content Aaron! These guys aren’t scrubs! Everyone will hold each other accountable this week including the coaches! We’re OU! Don’t be so discouraged; this team isn’t satisfied with how it went last week and will be playing with fire and determination next game ,so I won’t be surprised if we beat down Tulane this wknd! Yeah I said it, and I believe that can happen! BOOMER! 👍🤗💪🙏
Had very similar thoughts after watching the film. WR's for whatever reason not running good routes and not getting separation. The separation issue is baffling because #15 is supposed to be a world class sprinter.
Problem on the OL is the never ending injuries. We’re on our 4th center, OT is a turnstile, everyone is constantly shifting positions to fit a new group in, etc.. Arnold has now played with I think 5 different centers and 7 different OL combinations in his 3 starts. Impossible to play behind, not just for the QB, but for the RBs too. Nobody trusts the line, not even the line themselves at this point.
Good breakdown, but we saw this out of frustration that Arnold seemed to be thinking when linemen would hold long enough to make most plays successful.
This vantage point shows that our Oline actually OK pass blocking, we literally down three starters which is a lot of experience in routes and sitting finding soft zones to bail JA on. Bring back Andrel and Anderson and this looks way better. As for running game, they need more designed QB runs and perimeter screens
If OU can manage to put up 20-24 points they’ll win a lot of games. Looks like just a bit of fine tuning and get a few lineman and receivers healthy they may be ok
Glade you showed that. I,m like Hawkins do not take me wrong. But I think JA kind of got Screwed in being pulled this soon. He has a horrible game playing Tenn. But our offensive line played horrible, & he did not have any time, in the back field. He get benched for Auburn. Our OL played much better. Hey gave Hawkins much better protection. They were not as good as Tenn. How much better would JA played in that game. I,m afraid we may lose that Kid if he does not get some playing time also. Do not think his agent is not looking around. Georgia QB Beck will be leaving after this year. I would not be surprised to see him there in the future.
I am hoping for the best....but.... Doesn't look off defense, doesn't throw to guys until they are already open, won't throw them open, not great accuracy. It's been a rough start. He was the same in the bowl game
great analysis! Is it just me or does it seem like OU does too many pass deep routes and not enough short and mid range pass routes by wide receivers? Do they not know you only need to average 2.5 yards to get 10 yards in 4 attempts in order to keep going? lol
Technically a team would prefer about 3.34 yards per play through the first 3 plays to get a 1st. down. It actually doesn't seem that difficult to get first downs but it damn sure can be
@@LanceFloray-1966 will all of the deep routes by the receivers aren't fooling anybody and it's not helping the running game so they might as well start running some shorter routes lol
@@PassportBroHacks I watched a few minutes of this video and what I noticed is lack of continuity between receivers and the QB + limited time to get the ball out do to defensive pressure. Regardless most QB's can chew up man to man coverage in the passing game
@@LanceFloray-1966 yes but if the receivers were running more short routes and the quarterback was able to get the ball out of his hands within 2 seconds, they wouldn't have to deal with the pressure as much 🙌. This coaching staff - has Not surrounded him with top talent - RBs are missing blocks as well. His confidence is rattled - the execution of OL & WR is horrendous! Young Jackson needs much better skilled talent around him & he will be fine.
I never said replace him. Pal, you didn't listen well. Bring Hawkins in it doesn't matter if you're a senior a junior or sophomore. If a freshman is better than you, they deserve to play. We have found that out many times in football. Educate yourself, son.
Man I got out of this the oline was bad. Some of the concepts were bad. The execution was bad. Some of the qb decisions were bad. Some of the throws were bad.
Dude just made a whole video where most of the issues he talked about were on the receivers needing to do better and you took that as Arnold needs benched?
Obviously you didn’t see him in person. This young man is only a 4 star QB on his best days. Far too inconsistant with his passes.. long, short, off target.etc
This all comes down from a terrible choice of oc selections, WR's not running correct routes, Arnold not seeng the open receiver , RB's not reading defenses and running the correct routes, this all comes from confusion, poor coaching and players having no confidence in the play selection
I've been saying it since last season: Jackson Arnold is overrated, another Spencer Rattler. Michael Hawkins will be starting QB before the season is out. Hawkins is Kyler Murray 2.0.
on the deep corner...thats a terrible throw. The only place you can't throw that is behind him. He had the entire other 2/3 of the field to let the WR run to it, who is blazing fast. horrible throw
You clearly watched a different game than I did. Jackson Arnold wasn't seeing the field. Kept making wrong reads. Guys were open but he didn't see them. The worst offense display since 2022.
It definitely seems so, but I'll wait to see if they bounce back against Tulane, that will be a telling game. The only issue I see Tennessee struggling with is that there's almost nothing to prepare for in regards to OU's offense. So if they somehow find their stride it will be something not on film. Either way, OU did something similar last year with Cincinnati and 2 games later beat Texas, so once again the Tulane game will be telling imo.
Please more OU content that was great. Its good to see from a QB Perspective what is going on.
I plan on it!

The Houston defense dramatically improved from the week before and gave whole new looks that I think, OU wasn't anticipating.
Actually Houston defense wasn’t bad against UNLV. UNLV only had 308 total yards and the offense scored 20 points. The other 7 came off pick 6

Good this kind of info is out there. It’s way too easy to just blame the QB for everything.
What are your thoughts about the running scheme? Based on oline talent, what would be the best fit?
Three man rush on first play and he has to bolt outta the pocket. That pretty much sums it up. OL gotta figure it out.
