This is hands down the best weathering video I've seen. You show every bit of the process from the beginning to the end unlike everybody else. Thank you for taking the time to do that
Thank you very much for watching the video. I am very happy that you enjoyed it and found it useful. And, thank you very much for commenting too. Comments like tours is what helps to decide what content people like and what o should make more of. Have a great day!!
I really like the fact that there are here no pre-made fancy substances, company-produced "rust", but: painting with your own mixed colours and using the simplest tools! I like this way of model building.
I’m fairly new to serious model building. Recently purchased an amt 1940 Willys Coca Cola pickup that I want to rust out. I appreciate so I’ve learned from this video. It’s gotten me well on my way to how I want it to look. Thank you!
@chadwoomer8130 thank you very much h for che king out the video and I am very happy it has been helpful to your model building!! Would love to see your work one day :)
Awesome! Thank you very much for demonstrating this. I Personally prefer all the segments together, especially with the labelled segments at the bottom. This makes it easier to refer back to refresh my memory or if I wasn't sure on something. Thanks again!
Thank you very much for watching the video and commenting. I am glad you found the video useful :) I agree I like the full length videos with the chapters makes it easier to find what you are looking for.

What an informative post. First time i ever watched something from your channel. Thanks for the suggestion yt! I really like that technique with the white glue. I have this kit of an old 70's pontiac grand prix that i want to age and beat up. I wanted to rust it up but wasnt sure what technique i should use so its been sitting on the shelf for awhile now. But not anymore! I have to try this out. As far as your question i would have to say with this being my first time watching one of your posts i dont have enough to really give you an opinion. I do like how you explained in detail exactly what you were doing though. You just earned a new sub!
I used sandpaper on the in side of a real car wheel got real powdered rust then sponges acrylic paint and sprinkled the rust on it gives you the ability to lay paint heavy then powered rust for a heavy weathered look your videos are great always learn something thank you
Great question and I apologize for forgetting to say that in the video. I hit it with a blower dryer to get it dry to the touch and speed up the process a bit. Then I let it sit on the side for about 3 hours while I worked on something else. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it :)
Wow! What a cool technique! This turned out so realistic looking! 🚙 I really like your close ups! I really need to work on that for my videos! Length is tough; I wonder the same. Keep up the amazing work! Thank you for sharing!🥰
Thank you very much for stopping by and checking out the video! For my closeups, I use a boom arm by Arkon it comes with attachments for a camera, phone, or tablet and my camera is a Sony A6100. @@HobbyLinkInternational Well, they look amazing. I’m watching this video now.. I’m about to tackle a lowrider ice cream truck and I’ve never done patina/weathering. Your video has been the best I’ve seen so far! Thanks bro! 🙏🏻🙌🏻
I never really liked the hairspray and salt technique, I didn't feel that I had the control that I wanted. But the white glue and sponge looks much more controllable. So I'll give that a try. It's a shame I just got done rusting one last week lol
I didn't like those either. Definitely more control with the white glue :) And now you have to rust up another car lol Thank you for stopping by and commenting :)
@@HobbyLinkInternationalI like how mine looks with just sanding to get to the rusty colors, and I like how yours looks with the chips, so I'm thinking one that has some of both with be perfect!

The white glue was used for chipping instead of using hairspray or chipping fluid. Thank you very much for stopping by and checking out the video and taking the time to comment :) really appreciate it!
@@HobbyLinkInternational thanks for responding. I’m new to weathering, but I don’t understand the purpose of the glue. Does it break off the primer and/or rust base colors and/or blue final coat when using the toothbrush or when sanded, causing chips or indents? Thanks for helping a rookie.
@@dave3805 the glue goes over the rust layers. What happens is after you paint you scrub the car with a damp tooth brush and add water to the car. School glue is water based so the scrubbing will easily pull off the top layers of paint leaving marks resembling chips and leaving the rust layer to show through.

Does the topcoat have to be acrylic?
The clear coat to seal the paint can be anything you want. I use Mr. Super Clear which is a lacquer.

@e.h.3152 I never tried with lacquer. I use acrylic because water will take it off. Once lacquer is set not sure what will happen.
