The mischaracterisation he gets... he's so human. In the end we're all as complexed as him. LOVE it when Acheron says "And in the end, you will only see in black and white. But please believe me that in that monochrome world, there will be a glimpse of fleeting red, and when you make a choice.....it will appear once more" The human mind is very complex. Even when things seem simple and empty, our minds can find or create meaning and emotions. When we make decisions, it brings back these moments of meaning and emotion (the red), showing that our lives are much richer and more complex than they might seem at first glance.
I have one small question about this analysis on Sunday. In this video it says Sunday believes the ''illusion of choice'' And the non-existence of free will. If this is the case, I believe he wouldn't have taken any action at all to save the people from their suffering Or try to make their lives better. Afterall, he himself should be confined to the determinism he proposed ,if he truly believes it.,And taking any choices must be seen as futile in his eyes. I think his motivation to alleviate the sufferings from people's lives comes from his time spent in that confession booth, where he had to listen to the tragedies and weaknesses of humane. I fully agree on the part where its mentioned as Sunday doesn't think the ''self'' has any value 😊
I’d find it interesting if he’d join the trailblazers on the Express at some point, as it would be the best way for him to experience the world properly this time. With all the worlds you’ll be visiting, he’d be able to see all of life’s faces firsthand.

Amazing analisis! just want to add another possible cause for Sunday's beliefs: as most of his life he spends in in penacony, and most people living in penacony is either stupid rich or running from something (most of the time death), he has a biased data pool when he tries to analyse humanity. most the people he meets have weak mental will. this is most present in the scenes where he's working in the confessional. It is no surprise that he comes to the conclusion that humans are all weak and needs someone to make their decisions for them. on the other hand, robin travels across the universe to places of need where she meets people who may be physically weak but have a strong will. In the sibling's argument about the Chasity bird, it could seem that Robin was naively idealistic, but now that she has walked alongside the "weak" her method has proved to become more realistic to people's needs than Sunday's.
@bluefifth My goodness, yes! Exactly! This is what I think too. Amazing analysis. ✨ I hope hoyo doesn't waste Sunday's character and makes him an interesting new story/life. It would make him a character that always makes bad choices and that sucks... Change my mind.
literally thank you. ive been trying to tell everyone that sunday becoming a stellaron hunter just doesn't make sense. all the stellaron hunters joined in order to change their fate. hence why they follow the path of finality. kafka wanting to find the value of life but unable to feel fear (a feeling that allows you to think of everything as real, blade wanting to die but can't because he's immortal. they want to change their end/fate that they were once doomed to have. i don't see any way of sunday changing the past. from the prison scene, it seems that he has given up. he accepted death before it was even given to him. unless something changes in his story, there's just no way that he'll follow the path of finality and join the stellaron hunters.

i dont play hsr, so idk how well this observation holds, but the mention of "survival of the fittest" and what you were talking about around 6:46 reminded me of an era in american history where darwin's theory was misappropriated to justify classism and eugenics.
It's really sad to see how science gets twisted into something awful like classism and eugenics. Darwin's theory of natural selection was all about understanding how life evolves, not about justifying discrimination. When I read The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins, he made a great point that humans have evolved past just trying to survive. We have the ability to think ahead, be empathetic, and work together, which means we can beat our selfish instincts. However, greed is still a BIG problem. Havent finished the vid yet but i just love sunday so much. I've seen quite a few who actually hate him, and im lying if i dont say it doesnt piss me off a little lmao. They hate him because he's the antagonist, and sure, it's fair to dislike the antagonist. But he's so much more complex than simply the story's villain... he portrays relationships with religion so well. His belief in the harmony (and any aeon probably) was slowly disappearing when he realised that no aeon really cares about who suffers and who doesnt. They dont truly listen to your prayers, or watches you do good. In reality, it has always been just you against the world. So, sunday decided that HE'D become the aeon instead (lmao). Unlike the other aeons, he would listen to the people and keep them safe. Staying awake for them in the endless dream. He is extremely self-sacrificial and i love him dearly...
I just want to say thank you for the comments and likes ❤ I didn’t expect this video to hit 4k views 😭😭😭 I just love Sunday and I disliked how a lot of people misinterpreted him by just judging him from face value. I’ll be working on another project probably another character, but I still be posting some Sunday contents in my Twitter/X page 🫶
This video might be a bit old, the Penacony quest ended, and honestly i loved everything, Sunday still my favorite character ( if he doesn't become playable heads will roll the streets of China ), and honestly is good to understand more about a character that i like so much, Ena and Sunday are both my favorite characters, and although i think he's right in most of the points and he had noble reasons and make lots of fair points about the flaws of harmony, i always had a feel that he's not a villan, he simply didn't understood the true concept of Order ( or at least in my vision about Ena itself and it's lore ), and now i see why his concept of Order, yet with some noble purposes, was so distorted and more harmful than good, being groomed, exploited and manipulated since young age by that man who only wants the Order not because of its benefits but because of his own devious intentions, +1 subscriber my man
Sunday's ideals for his plan are good in concept but has major flaws in it, i say we should have more rest days on average but we should still work to help civilization/do jobs on our work days.
I love Sunday and you really did a wonderful job of putting into words everything that makes his character so interesting. It's so wonderful to see a more nuanced discussion on Sunday without painting him as evil, or excusing all his actions. You also made it super engaging with the top-notch editing, humor. And the research... Clearly a ton of effort went into this. Definitely the best HSR character analysis I've seen. Awesome work
this is such a great video about sunday, he makes me insane fr 🤭 i can't wait to see what hoyo will do with his character in the future and i can't wait to see how he will change
"it's not the experiences, but how we respond to the experiences" physical body was never the contraint, the mind is. eg. aeonhood, smth Sunday himself almost achieved. It requires an extremely strong willed mind to follow their ideal to the extreme, that could push their physical bodies over the *unthinkable* possible, ie literally immortality. Perhaps it was never his intention to become a god, but the fact that he overlooked the strength of mind while his was strong as hell is, well, such an irony. I specifically said "unthinkable possible", because truly the impossibility is rooted in our minds. Call it delusion but the fact is you really do fake it till you make it. Advancemnets are made by challenging the existing edges to cross over them, in order to expand the circle (no pun intended). No one knows what's on the other side of the wall (fake). You just have the vision of it in mind so vividly until you leap over the wall and find what's there (infinite possibilities). To keep that vision and act on it requires the strongest of minds. "Survival of the fittest" except it's the fittest of mind, not body. You could be born advantaged, but your survivability won't outrun that of the strong minded disadvantaged if every little rock on the road was treated like a mountain you can't climb (weak minded). Plus, survival of mankind never relied on who is the champion of the circle, but the expansion of the circle. Yea humans are way to complicated DAMN
finally got around to watching this video after a bit and I’m just speechless, truly this just perfectly encapsulates my thoughts on him and puts it into words!! sunday is such a compelling character to me and it’s no wonder he and robin skyrocketed to being my faves, even since the moment they were leaked! thank you for this, much appreciated in every way!!
I had already thought about the things Sunday thought before I played HSR even. But unfortunately I can’t make a dream realm so all I could do was understand Sunday.
It is SO refreshing to see someone with critical thinking skills give an analysis/opinion on Sunday. His complex arc and character have really grabbed me, but it seems like a lot of streamers really zoned out during the Sunday section of the quest and didn't really understand the major themes and his philosophy and what led him there, so I see a lot of criticism of him that's based on incorrect assumptions/understandings of his worldview and intentions. I think Hoyoverse messed up a little bit by reiterating a lot of aspects of his philosophy and story like 2-3 times each. It was probably meant to help it sink in through repetition but instead players just tuned out and stopped thinking. I've been unable to bring myself to watch a streamer play the entire Penacony finale because every single one ends up saying something incorrect or cruel about Sunday that just isn't true, and it's made me roll my eyes and leave haha. So...congrats on talking about Sunday for nearly 40 minutes and not prompting me to leave, lmao. I'm VERY excited to see where his arc goes from here. They did a great job portraying the impact of grooming and cult indoctrination, and I'm hoping they can keep it up by showing what successful cult deprogramming and trauma recovery can look like. I think he truly has the desire to be a force for positive change, he just has to find a better path to it. I really love that he tells us that if we can prove our path is stronger and has more of a chance of saving people, we should - it comes off as boisterous villain monologuing with the context and delivery, but behind it is the more pure and earnest message of 'if you can save more people than me, do so.' Villain, antagonist, antihero, whatever you want to call him, I have a lot of love for characters that do the wrong things for the right reasons. Here's hoping him and Robin can make positive change in the universe, whether together or apart.
Very good. Now that Sunday is coming to HSR, I suspect the interlude quest or his story quest will be him trying to escape from Gopher's shadow and influence and we will have to help him for that.
This video was incredible, not only did you do an amazing job at showing how nuanced Sunday is and helped me understand his character better, but you also moved me emotionally, this was an such an enjoyable watch thank you 😊
"Death and life, honor and dishonor, pain and pleasure...being things which make us neither better nor worse." The problem is that this is just not true. Suffering begets suffering, hurt people hurt people. And how we react to suffering is largely determined by factors outside of our control. It's not possible to manifest strength and virtue out of nothingness. It's just not. Those who believe that they can are deceiving themselves about the true source of their power, whether that's their own mental fortitude, their family and friends, preferable circumstances, etc. No one pulls themselves out of the abyss by their own bootstraps. That is why we must help them, not merely by lifting them up with our own power so that they can fall again, but by creating a world in which they also can be strong and free.
You raise some really insightful points about the limitations of stoicism, especially when it comes to understanding the roots of suffering and resilience. Marcus Aurelius’s philosophy emphasizes internal strength, but as you pointed out, our responses to suffering are deeply influenced by factors beyond our control, like our upbringing, social context, and even basic life circumstances. It’s not always realistic to expect people to 'rise above' pain without any external support. I think there’s still a valuable lesson in what Marcus Aurelius says about focusing on what’s within our power. Sometimes, the belief that we can shape our reactions, even in small ways, is what gives us hope and direction in difficult times. But again, that’s not the whole picture and resilience isn’t created in a vacuum. People need stable environments, communities, and fair opportunities to have a real chance at handling suffering constructively (this is where Sunday ideals has a point). In the end, I think the ideal lies somewhere in between. Your point about collective responsibility resonates with me: we can’t just expect people to 'bootstrap' themselves out of hardship, especially when systemic issues or trauma are involved. It’s not enough to help someone up once and call it a day; we need to actively create conditions where resilience can flourish. So, maybe a fuller version of virtue includes both inner resilience and a commitment to building a supportive society. In that sense, I agree with you. Strength and freedom are, in part, communal responsibilities, and it’s on all of us to create a world where everyone has a fair shot at them.
I think he would have been a better person had he not have been groomed by Gopherwood. Edit: i believe outcomes are losely predetermined but by doing the right actions you can change fate

THIS A FUCKING CRIME
You're so underrated
Wow👍 Maybe I’m grasping at nothing here, but I think Sunday walked the path he chose, whether it’s wrong or not, was because he was “too kind.” He kinda reminded me of Star Ocean the Last Hope’s Faize.
This is so good I love Sunday so much 😭also the editing is great!
Thank you so much!!
Honestly, the whole Penacony makes me question everything phylosophically. And my mind is blown due to Sunday.
HE COOKED🔥🔥🔥
25:00 not the sudden professor lando jumpscare in the middle of my bible gacha man analysis...
Whenever people responded to Sundays, "Why does life slumber?" with "because I'm tired" I die inside.
I honestly would've followed Sunday if we were given the chance to. I want everyday to be Sunday 🥺
Awesome work
Sunday cooked so good and he did nothing wrong
this is such a great video about sunday, he makes me insane fr 🤭 i can't wait to see what hoyo will do with his character in the future and i can't wait to see how he will change
thank you! I hope hyv is cooking his redemption arc good!
I was always his devout follower, got my jades ready 😭❤️
omfg the darwin edits 😂
im fucking dying with those edits
"it's not the experiences, but how we respond to the experiences"
physical body was never the contraint, the mind is.
eg. aeonhood, smth Sunday himself almost achieved.
@@saflanix holy smokes
we revolutionizing human philosophy with this one🗣🗣🗣🗣
I clicked for a Sunday analysis and HOLY SHIT I was NOT disappointed
sunday has the sadness in his eyes that you would only see in someone who's watched their charmony dove die
Sunday is such an amazing character. Thank you for the deep dive. It was really good!
I saw the title, I love Sunday, I saw peak editing and comedic timing. Immediately subbed.
finally got around to watching this video after a bit and I’m just speechless, truly this just perfectly encapsulates my thoughts on him and puts it into words!! sunday is such a compelling character to me and it’s no wonder he and robin skyrocketed to being my faves, even since the moment they were leaked! thank you for this, much appreciated in every way!!
I had already thought about the things Sunday thought before I played HSR even. But unfortunately I can’t make a dream realm so all I could do was understand Sunday.
he was so real for saying everyday should be a rest day 🙏🙏
It would be an honor to see THE Sunday analyser (yes you) make a vid dedicated to pulling for our lord Sunday 👀
SUNDAY FOR PRESIDENT 2024 🔥🔥🔥🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I come back to this vid every sunday
This video was incredible, not only did you do an amazing job at showing how nuanced Sunday is and helped me understand his character better, but you also moved me emotionally, this was an such an enjoyable watch thank you 😊
I honestly think Sunday may end up on the path of Finality.
No matter what path you take now Sunday, I'm very much willing to be part of your cult fr
The intro was the most relatable thing I've heard and seen in my entire life
"Death and life, honor and dishonor, pain and pleasure...being things which make us neither better nor worse." The problem is that this is just not true.
Strength and freedom are, in part, communal responsibilities, and it’s on all of us to create a world where everyone has a fair shot at them.
idk what the astral express is on abt id love for everyday to be sunday SUNDAY FOR PRESIDENT🔥🔥🗣‼️‼️
I think he would have been a better person had he not have been groomed by Gopherwood.
Edit: i believe outcomes are losely predetermined but by doing the right actions you can change fate
BRO HES SO PRETTY HEJARSNFWAE AND HIS POOR LORE AND STORY 😭😭
sunday te amo HE'S SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER I AM SOOO EXCITED FOR WHAT HOYO HAS IN STORE FOR HIM cause I genuinely wanted him to succeed, idc, but what with all the leaks about him I can only hope what Hoyo has in store for him is even better (it's gonna be sooo tragic I'll cry)
YES You’ve just summarized basically how I interpreted Sunday’s beliefs. Amazing video and love the jokes. Very insightful
Dude really cooked. Appreciate this a lot as I was left confused at the end of last story quest.
Unhand me! I need to let everyone know this analysis is beautiful! Every day must be Sunday!! (Omg I love this video so much)
"This video is probably going to take awhile"
My brain: this video is sponsored by raid shadow legends
Your analysis is genius. So professional. Thank you so much. It allowed me to understand my favourite character even more 💙
Amazing analysis, truly captivating!
trully a cooking for the ages
"We know this world is beyond saving, despite that, we must become heroes." He is *SO* similar to Kevin, I hope he at least will get to live out his truth and have a happy ending to his own story
i just realized that goopher wood has chicken wings too, so they have to be related! :D
cant believe it but im with sunday on this. SUNDAY FOR PRESIDENT 🙏🙏
Very random thing to say but thank you for being so mindful of the audio levels of this video! Everything was perfectly audible, the clips matched in loudness and the music wasn't overwhelming. Good job on the overall editing too, it must've taken a long time!
MAN I LOVED THE VIDEO THANKS FOR EVERYTHING
I understood maybe 20% of this, but it made me feel smart and made me appreciate not only Sunday as a character but the Penacony's story in general. Good work, and please make more 🙏
Great video!
(I'm gonna e6 Sunday-)
Didn't upload on a Sunday, my experience is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable😔
Im sorry i failed you 😔
This analysis was so beautiful it brought me to tears
Honestly great work not a fan of generated voices. But your content it's amazing keep the good work
An amazing analysis video! While Sunday's plans were inherently flawed, his ideals and motives are so interesting to delve into and it was so cool seeing that explored in such depth here, and as someone who absolutely loves his character I really enjoyed this and can't wait to see what's next for him. Appreciate your hard work into this, awesome job!!
Genuinely one of the best character analysis I have seen in a bit. Astonished. I love this video so much. Amazing work❗️
It's a very good video! I have a few topics where i differ from your analysis, but i don't think i could explain my thoughts in english properly haha. Nonetheless, i think you did an amazing job and a very rich explanation about Sunday's motifs and behaviors. Congratulations!
Excellent video, loved your work so far (saw this one and Jade).
You deserve more subscribers, a lot more. Sharing with my homies!
It’s okay, I can fix him
I am going to bother everyone I know who plays HSR with this video
please dont. (yes please)
Thia video is so good and the editing is very good as well. I am amazed ya have sonfew fallowers.
godly editing my friend, i can see lots of effort was put into this
that's some A+ analysis my man
thanks for making this video, I like sunday but I don't I think have the emotional insight to really understand him and his philosophy.
like he's clearly a complex character, a good person that had something fundamentally wrong with either him and/or his beliefs (I was left wandering if he's capable of respecting others. or understanding others?), but your video helped crystalize my rough thoughts with some cool new ideas so this is much appreciated (and i just realized it's half an hour long wtf)
its kinda crazy how hsr managed to create a character that made me feel personally betrayed and disgusted and genuinely disturbed lmao but i still really want the best for him
also the last bit was a punch to the gut i'm officially a gopherwood hater
i really loved the video, thanks so much, videos like this one makes me appreciate the lore more than the game itself
THIS IS SO GOOD I LOVE YOU FOR THIS
Him and qingque whould be besties
First of all gosh your editing is so scrumptious and the analysis is insane it's so on point i clicked to expect negative markings on his end but it's rather surprising!! Goodwork❤
ABSOLUTE BANGER 🎉🎉🎉
Genuinely such a good video. Thank you for making this!
Thank you for making this video! This video is so well edited and very informative! Really made me appreciate Sunday more but also contemplate on my life lol
Would love to see another deep characters analysis from you, especially to characters that get mischaracterisation from the fandom. Keep up the good work! Subscribed o/
OMG AEON BLESS, I LOVE YOUR VID PLEASE DON'T DIE😭😭😭🛐🛐🛐
