- All in the Family was inarguably one of the biggest shows of the '70s, running from 1971 to 1979. Throughout its 9-season run, it introduced a lot of new ideas to the sitcom format while entertaining audiences with a diverse and wildly entertaining cast. Today, we're taking a look at the All in the Family cast, then and now!

Starting with Carroll O'Connor, the legendary actor who portrayed Archie Bunker, you may know that he passed back in 2001. He was barely into his older years at this point, but that didn't stop him from leaving his mark on television before he left. After All in the Family, he starred in the spin-off Archie Bunker's Place, and enjoyed a myriad of other roles, as well.
Jean Stapleton played Edith Bunker, who also led quite a respectable career. She was fairly active through the early 2000s, appearing in television and movies and even getting inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. Sadly, she passed in 2013.
Rob Reiner has made a name for himself as a legendary director in television. Although his career was definitely at its peak during the 70s and 80s, he is happily living today as a father and grandfather.
Sally Struthers is the beautiful actress who portrayed Gloria. This became her biggest role, and the one many people know her for. Although she is still active to this day, she's not in the spotlight quite as much as she was on All in the Family. Fortunately, she still enjoys her work and lives a fulfilling life.
Betty Garrett played Irene Lorenzo, neighbor to the Bunkers. Garrett had a long history of acting on both stage and television, and also enjoyed a substantial role on Laverne and Shirley. Her significant career continued well into the 2000s, until she sadly passed in 2011.
Danielle Brisebois played Stephanie Mills, Edith's niece on All in the Family. After the show, she gave up acting to pursue music. Although she never became a huge star herself, she had the pleasure of working with some of the biggest names in music like Alanis Morissette and Natasha Bedingfield.
Sherman Hemsley played George Jefferson, and made a big enough splash to get his own spin-off, called The Jeffersons. While not on screen, however, he lived a very secluded life. After his time on these shows, he kept out of the public eye. He passed in 2012.
Isabel Sanford played Louise Jefferson, George's wife. With Sherman Hemsley, she enjoyed a successful career both on All in the Family and The Jeffersons. Afterwards, she continued to appear in guest spots on TV until her passing in 2004.
Michael Evans played Lionel Jefferson, the last member of the Jefferson family. While he also shared the career growth of this show, he continued to dabble in other television series and even in real estate. Sadly, he passed away at the young age of 57.
Jason Wingreen played Harry Snowden, but this wasn't his only television appearance. From Seinfeld to The Star Wars films, Jason Wingreen made appearances in some of the most famous productions of all time. Sadly, he passed away in 2015.

I grew up in the 1970's. I enjoyed watching that show 😊👍. Archie Bunker was great. It was great to see him get his point across. The whole cast was great. Great show 👍.

@@FactsVerse My favorite episode was probably the Christmas episode called The draft Dodger. Archie Bunker had a hard time with a draft Dodger in is house at Christmas time.
I still watch the re runs . Loved this show as a kid and still as an adult. God bless the cast.

Absolutely! So shocking the things they said Norman Lear was a genius. I’m still laughing today watching re-runs. Many lessons were taught!

Great memories television will never be like this I remember as a kid I used to watch the reruns back in 91 92 93 and they were just so funny to this day I still watch them and the reruns are always going to be memorable memories that will never forget

Facts Verse Probably Jean Stapleton’s Edith for me was always my favorite character in that for me she was the most relatable and sympathetic character IMHO.

Best cast of characters ever to grace the screen.
Best show of any genre, to confront the most uncomfortable topics of the day.
Shows like All in the Family would never make it in the cancel culture climate we have now.
It confronted and examined the issues of the day, not politicized it,thus making it just one more way to divide this country.

Best sit-com of ALL times . Carroll O'Connor ( Archie ) and Jean Stapleton ( Edith ) at their VERY BEST !!! I miss them alot . This sit-com and the actors are TIMELESS !!!!! One thing's for sure , they don't make sit-coms like this ANYMORE . The greatest sit-com in TV history in PAST , PRESENT , and FUTURE !!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss Archie ( Carroll O' Connor ) and the DELIGHTFUL ; SYMPATHETIC , SWEET Edith ( Jean Stapleton ). A prayer for both of them and their Families..

I've watched quite a few of these types of videos and it occurs to me that Gen Xers aged a lot better than Boomers. Irene at 53 and Stephanie at 51 look like mother and daughter, Archie and Edith were in their 40s but could pass for 60s easily now. I'm nearly 51 and can still pass for 30s.
It also depends on the type of life they had, their habits, like drinking & smoking, & the climate in which one lives.
Jean Stapleton was so talented and was great as Miles Nana Silverberg on Murphy Brown

At 10:13, Jason Wingreen was mistakenly listed as Michael Evans. Of all the cast members of "All in the Family/"Archie Bunker's Place" who've died, he lived the longest, reaching the exalted age of 95.

just wanted to say nice episode I always liked watching a show of my dad when I was growing up he always went on and on about how was one of his favorites obviously for that reason I didn't grow up with watch a brand new episodes are reruns of course but I never knew much about the show besides what I was watching with my dad at that moment. definitely taught me a lot of facts about the show that it did not realize like For example that they had George Jefferson on the show which I never do that and I'm assuming that's where the show The Jeffersons came from

This was one of the best shows ever created. It should be left alone. It would be a shame to see it ruined by present day writers trying to put modern day characters in the place of the originals. I'm guessing that the young couple would naturally be social justice warriors(?). Yawn. Leave a good thing alone.
