  • Samsung Waterwall Dishwasher 9550 review.
Let me start off by saying that this dish washer is gorgeous and that blue glow in the front, that's not just for looks. It is so quiet, without that glowing blue light in the front, you would be hard pressed to tell if it was actually running or not. The first time I used this dish washer, I opened it maybe 3-4 during a wash cycle just to make sure that it was actually running, it's just that quiet. Before I got this, I used to only run my old one in the mornings as I left for work so that I wouldn't have to listen to it while I was home during the day or night and forget about even thinking about running it while I was trying to sleep, that just wasn't going to happen. This one though, doesn't matter when I run it because I can't hear it. It's amazing.
Unlike my old dish washer, this one is stainless steel, so yup, you guessed it, it's a finger print magnet. Thanks to this I've had to learn new ways to clean in order to get the fingerprints off of it. I guess it's just one of the joys of owning stainless steel appliances.
I simply love the way the silverware tray is designed. No more having to try to set my silverware in the tray while keeping them from sticking together (think spoon on spoon). With this tray setup, no silverware comes into contact with each other. There's plenty of space so that each one will get fully cleaned.
The rinse only feature is nice. If I know I won't be washing dishes that day and I don't want food mess to get caked onto the dishes, I just run the rinse only feature to get the food stuff off the dishes so that I don't have to worry about pre-rinsing every dish before it goes into the dish washer.
If I find that I am washing dishes with some food stuff already caked on, I then turn to the zone booster to add a little extra power to wash some of my dishes.
There is one feature I'm sure is split between those that like it and those that hate it. That's would be the fact that this dish washer has no dry heating element. Yup, this dish washer only air dries. Although it does have an auto open door feature that helps with speeding up dry time. It also has a little fan that blows to help keep the steam from rising directly onto the counter-top above it. Personally I love this feature as I always air dried my dishes with my old dish washer anyways instead of using the heating element. By the way, there is a way to disable the auto door open feature in case it is not wanted.
Another feature I like is the timer countdown. No more guessing how long until the dishes are done.
All in all, so far I really like the looks and cleaning power of this dish washer and am glad I got a chance to try it out. I have a feeling the constant fingerprints would test my patience, and maybe, just maybe, the melody at the end of the cycle. But I guess only time will tell.

I have had failure codes several times over the 4 years I owned my Samsung. Each time I have cleaned the gunk out of the interior under the strainer and around the heating element and sensors and put it back together and it has worked for another year. Never replaced any parts. Lousy design when the sensors are that easily made faulty by dishwasher gunk. I recommend any empty cleaning cycle weakly to reduce the gunk build up.

I've read of issues like that with some of the Samsung dishwashers. I do run a dishwasher cleaner tab through the dishwasher on a regular basis so I'm hoping that helps keep it a little cleaner. But I guess time will tell. got my fingers crossed!

Thank you for making this video. Believe this might be the dishwasher we just purchased. Like the blue light by the handle, but haven’t noticed it come on. What does the * next to the timer represent? Also, seen it has WiFi capabilities; how does that work?

    • @R-TechEnthusiast

      Thanks for watching!
The * means it's out of rinse aid :) But I don't use rinse aid in mine. Mine dries perfectly fine without spots, so I don't need the rinse aid.
The blue light only comes on when it's actually running a cycle.
If you have WiFi, then it's the next model up from mine. I thought I bought the WiFi model but missed it by one level, oops. I'm considering upgrading in the near future to a WiFi model. Basically it will link to your Samsung Smartthings app so, at a minimum, you can monitor the status of your dish washer. Some appliances (electric models only can be controlled, gas models are only for monitoring) can be controlled by the Smartthings app as well, but I haven't checked out the dish washer version yet so not sure if it can be controlled by the app or just monitored.

Yea, it seems their large appliances haven't caught up to the quality of their electronics just yet. Like Don mentioned in his comments, Samsung dishwashers seem to suffer from sensor faults caused by gunk from normal use, something that really shouldn't happen. So clean cycles or products designed to clean the dish washer is more important than usual in order to keep those sensors working properly. An issue that you could potentially fix yourself if you're slightly handy with tools. Their appliances are great when they work, but a pain when they don't.

Make sure you're pressing the 'on' button long enough, you need to touch the button for about 2-3 seconds for it to power on. If that doesn't work, most newer houses will have a dedicated on/off switch for the dish washer and it's usually next to the garbage disposal switch. If you have an on/off switch, make sure it's on. After that, check to make sure the circuit breaker didn't trip for the dish washer, if it did, turn it back on again. If none of those work, call Samsung to check it out. Anything else beyond what's listed above would require knowledge and skills dealing with electricity, which is best left to the experienced and to professionals.
