- I tried out a few medieval overhaul mods for Rimworld and had a lot of fun. Surprisingly playing like a Roman made many people want to destroy me.

To be fair I'm pretty sure basic grenades existed back then, after all you find something that explodes with fire you just put it in a container light it on fire and throw it.
Have you considered equipping your medieval colonists with M4A1s and extended ammo pouches for fast reloading capability?

This is a common misconception. I'm sick of seeing this bs circulating. The Romans actually used T-34s during the Second Punic War. The adoption of heavy machine guns was actually during the Third Punic War. This is elementary school stuff, people!
Medieval mod. Most deadly weapon: grenades.
Grenade did exist in that time period but they were mainly in asia. It was not long after when they became used in europe.

This was the best rimworld content I have seen in a while. It was cool that you kept pushing even when 80 percent of the colony was dead. Please do more with combat extended
Unless there is a way to turn off the bombs I'm not running CE during a medieval playthrough. For a normal game sure, it is a good mod.

@@guyfromcollegeFun fact: You can amputate infected wounds. You can cut off infected limbs or parts and the infection will disappear but at the cost of a limb or something.

most frustrating thing about trying to do medieval playthroughs is that tribals end up being your worst threat. basic gunpowder is always considered a low-level tech that doesnt get taken away by maynard medieval and so you always end up with tribals with muskets and sticky bombs.
Counter, use your own bombs.
The snap out! mod is one I consider absolutely essential for any playthrough. Long as you got someone decent at social, those less violent breaks in critical situations are much less of a problem. That being said, the run wild break is the bane of my existence since I almost never bother getting anyone good with animals.
If you ever wanna give Rome a shot again, let me suggest Vanilla Factions Expanded: Classical. It's just rome, complete with a quest to unite the three warring empires into one under your rule
The first sticky bomb effectively killed Rome, it's like the rock thrown ending the natural order meme.

Interesting concept and nice video! I have an incredibly minor nit-pick about the editing: when you were introducing the colonists it would've been nice to have their name shown on screen along with the stats

This in my opinion ir rimworld at it's best, constant tragedy and constant tension, but also some hope, way better when people just win all the time in rimworld. Rimword is called a story generator for a reason.

Macel is just the luckiest unlucky person as he watched his nation rise from nothing then he watched everyone he knew die in front of him and then he rebuilds slowly and has to fight tooth and nail to rebuild even to a pre-settlement level and he does it things are finally looking up their farms are being worked and the people are ready to expand again and then another attack kills everyone he worked so hard to convince and he’s already half dead and no better then when he started so him having a meltdown and destroying walls is fitting as all his accomplishments now taste of ash

Loved your video! You should try out the Rim World of Magic Mod, I personally suggest a necromancer in the mod as it makes life 100 times easier if you do end up trying it!

Try adding Combat Extended it makes the game brutal and more coherant, like a fullplate armor out right ignor a knife and bows having arrows
Battlefield events are such bullshit.
I have 12 colonists, 3 of which are below 13, and I recently had a battlefield event outside my base and it was like 30 v 30! I was thankfully shielded by the mountain I built my base into, but their rockets and shit absolutely deleted my mountain resources while I wasn't even in Industrial yet. Honestly, the only reason I have lived so long with this colony is because one of my two base colonists has Martial Artist and she constantly RKO's the raiders for me to finish off. However, this was a massive pain in my ass when she had triplets and spent about 16 hours a day doing childcare, leaving her husband to do basically everything else across the colony for probably about a year.

rimedieval is such a good mod. if there were no mods i wouldn't play rimworld at all man. make sure to disable tech tree things and unnecessary factions like mechas etc. for medieval rp.

story from my current map with nuclear power and nagjc lol siji the impids on this rimworld decide to do the first raid on me and my small mountain base default map size and i prefer colder maps like currently ice sheet well impids have a vulnerability to cold me i have a rimatomics reactor up and running already and a few rods in place upper 30% of my map is mountain im quite comfortable thanks to bad hygiene radiators made from marble around all the rooms and pillars of the same material supporting the underside of my mountain hole finally he begins his raid i have my folllow camera on him and zoomed in with camera+ watching his path all of a sudden i see a polar bear start running up to the impid and basicly maul and eat him alive as funny as that i decide hell guess i should invite the bear in so i set out to tame him he stays on the map and eventually sees things my way joins me and i decide to call him dog that was 5506 its currently 5510 and one of the other colony people that i decided to make magically gifted finally made it into the priesthood and has rezzed dog more than once im currently looking to find a mech syrum to fix his eye that was damaged back in 5506 and the priest and a blood mage are still kicking around too back in .19 you could use jecrells vampires mod plus rim of magic to add more blood abilities to your vampire you still can with your sanguaphage but you used to be able to do it too in jecs version it would actually take the vampires blood to do things like blood moon which if you wasnt a first generation vampire would damn near kill you lol i mean i know of a vampire that comes out on blood moons and now a rimworld vampire can too in before people start talking about the solo mechinator pacifist sanguaphage priest runs XD

@@guyfromcollege You can also use Total Control to add things that are cringe.
Specifically lets you control things about pawns from different factions.
So far I've successfully used it to control gear quality, implants and traits, making pawns from the Empire all have the tough trait, all have excellent+ gear, all have stoneskin glands.
You can probably do more with it but I've not fully explored its features.
I'm 90% sure it's what youtubers who make series with unique custom factions and things like that, such as Mr Samuel Streamer, use.
And Xenotype Spawn Control, but I think Total Control also lets you control xenotypes, just not as precisely since Xenotype Spawn Control lets you set the percentages of different xenotypes from factions, whereas Total Control seems to just apply / forbid things faction-wide.
I've heard it doesn't work properly if you try and change the rates of different xenotypes from the Empire at the same time as using Vanilla Empire Expanded, but it's worked fine when I've done that to make it contain some of every xenotype.
