Realistically the Enclave would have never recruited Ben unless somehow he was a pure pre-war human (And even then they have more of a shoot now ask questions later attitude) Great content though! I'm loving this serious so far!!
He could just be being used by the enclave. Far back as fallout 2 they had no qualms manupulating wastelanders, and using "muties" theyd otherwise kill without a second thought as slaves, mercenaries, and meatshields. After all, theyll die anyways if the enclaves plans go into fruition. Lets also not forget the mind controlled deathclaws in 3, the players ability to work with the enclave, or frank horrigan himself. If they can use you, they will use you. Plus the enclave isnt one solid faction. Its not as heavily schismed and divided as the BoS became over the years, but there are distinct groups.
The armour, weapons etc are essentially rewards for defeating bosses and if you want a non-tainted one you have to take them down non-lethally, speaking of non lethally why not keep some non lethal weaponry on hand which can be used to know down some enemies you want to recruit or some vault dwellers families instead of killing them

personally I think it's not cheating to get equipment from bosses, think of it this way they are very hard raids that you beat by fighting tooth and nail... you deserve to have their loot afterwards

I think for fallout, not using the death acidifier is more on brand because killing and looting is kinda the main point of the game and hunting down bosses in the first place.
What about making a sequel playthrough of gun empire where a nuclear war broke out between the factions and then you can include the fallout mods in the playthrough aswell as maybe starting with a few survivors that found shelter in a vault and can only stay there for a while cause the vault wasn't fulled stocked before the bombs fell so they'll only be able to stay until the limited amount of supplies run out and they'll find out that somewhere in the wasteland is a area untouched by fallout called "New Eden" and call the playthrough "the apocalyptic journey to New Eden"

a good tip for embrasures, have a wall a tile or two on your side so they cant shoot into your base from your own embrasures
