I have to say that I am watching a lot of RUclips videos on greece in general you are absolutely the best . I hope for you the absolute best .euvkaristo poli
Just came back from 15 day cruise that ended in Athens. Me and my wife took your advice and visited some of the sites you recommended in your previous videos. You were spot on! Enjoyed our visit very much! Athens is one city everyone should experience at least once in there lifetime!
Sebastian, your videos are the best! They are by far the most informative of all and you make them super engaging and fun as well. My wife and I are on a 2-week trip to Greece, including Athens, Delphi, Meteora and three islands. We relied predominantly on your videos to learn all about Greece, the best places to visit, and the extensive advice you provided regarding local sights to see, hotels, rental cars, food, customs, prices and such. Really awesome! I've passed on the link to your RUclips channel to some of my friends who're planning on visiting Greece in the future.
I guess, a lot of people have said this but your videos Sebestian are the best on Greece for people who are planning a trip to Greece. Super concise, sharing all relevant information without any fancy frills and adjectives. Simply great!
Update: devastating floods have rendered the trains inoperable. Tour operators have switched to using buses. The drive is about 5 hours from Athens, but there is a stop along the way (to and from) where you can buy food, drinks, go to the bathroom and stretch your legs. Because of the length of the ride, I would recommend you take a two-day tour. We got in a wonderful Sunset Tour when we arrived, and a wonderful guided hike the next day. In between we enjoyed Kalambaka.
Another wonderful and informative video. I did the 2 day with Delphi and Meteora. We only saw 2 monasteries- St. Stephens and St. Barbara’s. St. Stephens was not as strict on the dress code as St. Barbara’s. At St. Barbara’s, the nuns were selling long scarves/pashminas to both men and women for €30. You were not allowed into St. Barbara’s if you didn’t have the skirt or long pants and didn’t buy the scarf/pashmina.
I visited Meteora last month, monastery of St. Stephen and monastery of St. Barbara (aka Rousanou). They did allow guided tour groups, our guide explained every painting on the monasteries' walls. Quite a trip, surreal natural views, will never forget it!
loved it! I got a train from my solo travel to Athens, then ran to all the monasteries for a day, then the next I did the famous Meteora trail run. Any runners out there, the Meteora trail run is the best trail run I've ever done, and you should use the opportunity to do it. It's not easy but i was still able to get drunk both nights and enjoy the other things!
Awesome! I'll be going to Greece in June (including Meteora) and it was quite helpful. All your content about Athens and Santorini helped me a lot as well. I'm always looking forward to your videos to help me plan my trip :) Looking forward to your video on Delphi! I'd also be curious to hear about your tips for other destinations, such as Naxos and Thessaloniki!
I went here with my GF, we rented a car from Escape Car Rentals near Plaka, for super cheap, 48 euros with full insurance coverage, gas wasn’t too bad and tolls came up to max 25-30 euros, I’d say renting a car is way better option with more freedom rather than tour bus, worked for us great and wasn’t as costly compared to a tour
Thank you for you excellent portfolio of videos. We are going to be only a few days in Greece and researching what to do would have taken so many more hours without your detailed and expert tips.
You explain things so well, thanks you so much.. I am learning so much about your beautiful country. We are coming in May.. We are spending three days in Meteora. Hoping we can catch the bus to get between monasteries.
I’m taking a 2 week trip in Greece and I’m going to Meteora tomorrow and I’m really excited. My mom told me about the strict rules and didn’t bring long skirts. Great job by the way I subscribed!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yet another detailed and very helpful video. I'd booked Meteora day trip some tima ago already (by a sheer coincidence, with the same company you link in your video) but somehow I missed the information about a skirt! Seems like I have to start skirt hunting tomorrow 🙂 Thanks again!
Love your videos too , thanks for sharing!! Very rich in details !! Will be going to Greece for my 60 th birthday in 2025 ( or next year in September) take care
Are you going to do a video on a day trip to Delphi? Will be going at the end of May and there are SO many tour options I’m having trouble figuring out which ones are best. PS thanks for your videos they have been very helpful in planning our honeymoon!!
Thanks, this is very helpful since i am definitely going there this August. The pants for men is definitely very informative since I never planned to bring pants. I thought of bringing a drone as I have a license to fly, although it is not needed for the weight classification of the one i have within the EU. I only have 1 day since my hotel booking in Athens is fixed for 1 week and staying out of Athens for 1 nights will add to the cost.
haha, we've been following your videos and just left greece. had you posted about meteora earlier, we would have made time to visit. but thanks for the tips!
Sesbastian; we haven't forgotten about you. Still planning our trip, nothing in concrete yet. But wow, I was just searching Meteora and if we should go or not and wow - you made our decision for us. I will be reaching out to you for food tour in Athens. I am also looking for a guide in Istanbul if you happen to have a friend in Turkey? Chat soon!
Really love your videos super helpful my wife and I are planning our trip for August and your videos are helping us sooo much. Just one question. Can we use the 3 days tourist train ticket to go to Kalambaka or do we need to buy a different ticket in Larissa Station?
We're staying in Alabama but want to get sunset photos of Meteora. What would be the best way to get around the ranges at that time of day? Don't want to get stuck up there at night!
Just came across your videos about Greece. Love your detailed videos. You have a friendly demeanor. If you don't mind, a question: how safe is it to take a chauffeured car from Athens to Meteora? It is a girls only trip. Wondering if it is safe enough to take private tour from Athens to Meteora. Thank you in advance!
Go with the cab option , the metros are not that safe i went in june of this year i talked to a tourist and he got everything but his passport stolen and was told that there are 70 plus robberies per day .Also if taking a cab make sure and ask him if he uses the meter most taxi drivers work flat rate and it will cost you more
Thank you for all the great information. We are headed on a cruise from Athens in May but will be in Athens a few days before the cruise goes out. I noticed the 2 day trip is currently unavailable or sold out for May 6th. Do you have an alternative suggestions for a the two day trip that goes to Delphi and Meteora?
We’re going to Delphi and stay 1 night, then to Meteora, for 2 nights. Since there’s 3 of us, it will come out more convenient to rent a car, esp if we will be driving around Meteora, and not taking tours. Tour cost will be x 3. Too expensive.
Thank you so much for making this video! I used one of your videos to help decide where to book my hotel in Athens and just booked the day trip to Meteora. I have one question - will there be gift shops in Meteora? I collect postcards and really want to get one there! (I'm going in December, so I hope that the shops will still be open!)
hey there.. i am doing a 14 days trip on christmas to greece.. which island would you recommend me visiting ? planning to speand 4 days in athens and rest on an island with some nightlife
Hi ! No nightlife on the islands during the winter, only in Athens. I'd go to Santorini and Crete. It's the 2 only islands that are still a little alive during the winter. Hope this helps !
Hello. Thanks very much for such an informative video. I have a quick question. Do you have any idea roughly what time we get back to Athens if we choose 2 Day trip? Because I need to catch the flight to Zurich on the second day around 20:00.
Thank you so much for the videos! I have always wanted to come visit Greece. Is the water around zakynthos and milos nice to swim in mid to late October?
Q: Is there any 2 day tour of Delphi (by bus from Athens) and Meteora (overnight, and return by train to Athens)? Also, is there a list of hotels in Meteora to select?
No the 2 day trip to Delphi and Meteora is exclusively by BUS. This is the tour in question : bit.ly/3VifGzR And yes when booking this 2 day tour, you can choose between either the 3 star or the 4 star hotel.
I am interested in the 2 day tour, but I already booked our hotel for 5 nights. If I were to try and cancel 1 of the nights, do you recommend any options for luggage storage? I see online that Athens has a lot of luggage storage companies but hard to know if this would be the best option. Definitely don't want to bring all my stuff on the bus.
I'm not sure. Just clicked the link and indeed it says that you will visit "2 or 3 monasteries". Could be due to the opening hours of the monasteries that vary from day to day ...
I stop my group tours at the end of october, but I continue giving private tours throughout the winter :-) Hit me up on instagram if you want more info regarding my private tours !

Speaking about hilltop monasteries, the spectacular monastery on Amorgos(Hozoviotissa monastery) is simply out of this world.😊
I plan to visit meteora in December. What do you think
Love the video! Only concern for me is the late arrival back to Athen. Is it safe to walk to back to hotel at night?
The train station is not a great area. I would Uber/Freenow it. It will be around 10€ to reach the city center.
Fantastic scenery!

The guided tour IS allowed in the monasteries only if the guide is a licenced tour guide. The tours promoted here are not hiring professional guides.
