As an older skater....56yrs old......I have bad knees, ankles, back, shoulder.....I have found that keeping my core and legs strong really helps keep injury rate low. Gonna start jump rope like Kelly and Gonz has posts of him doing plyometrics so there are lots of options to keep skating as an OG....

Herniated 6 disc's L2-S2. Couldn't drive or sit, or walk for about 5 months. Physical Therapy saved my life. Dry needling Therapy 3x a week, PT 4 days a week, 2x a day chiropractor visits for three months. Trust the process and stay committed to it. Pt is not a short term solution and that's hard to deal with in the moment

I feel Kelly on the hip motion thing. I had hip surgery (hip impingement and torn labrum) in March 2021. Since then I've never felt the same. Also have hip impingement on my left side, so I'm always conscious of my movements, like almost living in fear that it's gonna happen again. The thought of going skating terrifies me. Summer of '19 was the last time. But after months of this fear, I finally called my local gym last week for info to get a trainer to work with. Had the appt Saturday and they'll let me know on Mon-Tues on who'd be a great fit for me. Pretty pumped, goal is to go "click that tail" around this summer 🤙
Get Sebo. He'd be a good dude to talk to about this. I've seen other videos of him doing these warm ups. It's made me want to take care of my body and get my it warmed up before I skate.

that ankle thing is common. soccer too. such a fine line between sprains and breaks in terms of how they feel/etc...common to have small breaks that then you get checked out down the road and its like "when did you break your ankle before?"
all the skaters who are super into eating healthy and stretching and going to the doctor take an hour to stretch and then they dont bust nothing lol im 32 i dont stretch and i just get to the park and start skateboarding..... no doctors, no physical therapy and no surgeries

I used @oldfriends ankle sprain rehab video, it was a game changer. I've sprained my ankle countless times and I've never recovered so quickly and felt so confident going back to skating! Thanks Dr. Kyle!

nah i dont think physical therapy is as important as skaters make it to be and also every skater is worst after surgery lol the body has an amazing ability to heal itself it doesnt need doctors unless you are bleeding to death they cant do much lol
ACL surgery helped me but I feel that. I skated with it torn for a year and couldn't huck anything higher than a 5 stair. Can still jump off things 10 years later and I'm 32 now
@@tomsativa i agree, maybe its because God also restored our body and made us fly like the eagles. im 31 and hitting bigger stuff than ever, i dont stretch and i dont go to the doctor but no shade to anyone that does i just dont think its the same for every one

If you sleep on your side, invest in a small leg pillow that goes in between your legs and will help lower back pain.
