    This is crazy DM. When I first saw this a couple of months ago (when I didn't know anything), my reaction was like, 'that's pretty cool'. Now that I'm understanding more and more how much this software can do, I see this video again today and I'm like 'DAMN, this is powerful!' - because I now see how useful this one simple effect can be when creating. #InvaluableContent

      Hey Comps! Hope all is well. Yes, I honestly use fade in about 75% or more of the things I do... it's a must!

      Thanks so much for this video! When I select mask . It doesn’t appear below the image or shape i want to mask on the control panel, instead it appears beside the picture 😩 so then when i select to blend it’ll change the color of the whole photo 😩

    Question. What if you wanted to add multiple fades to a single image? Do you copy the image multiple times, or add additional masks? And if you wanted to change the color several times...

    • @bydesignmethod
      @bydesignmethod  Год назад +1

      Hey Prontopac! I would add multiple masks to the image. Sometimes I fade an image at the top and the bottom so I add two masks and fade them separately for the most control. For changing colour I would use the Recolour Adjustment (as many times as needed) and use the built in mask to paint away (or add) what I want. I hope that makes sense, let me know!

      Oh no! Are you using Affinity Photo 2? You can always check by going to 'About' in the top toolbar. You can also reset your workspace to default (which I always use) by going to Window > Studio > Reset Studio. Let me know if that works!

    A very useful and easy to follow video, thank you. Is it possible to fade a photo out from the middle in all directions so that the outer edges all fade away equally?

    • @bydesignmethod
      @bydesignmethod  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey, thank you so much. For something like that I would either:
      1) apply a mask, with the mask selected I would get my paintbrush and painting in black I would fade the areas I wanted away. If you're not sure about masking check out my 'MASKING' video - it explains everything.
      2) add 4 masks and do each side - I know this sounds like a lot of work but it would have the effect you're looking for. You can apply as many masks as you need, I do this often to fade top and bottom, left to right, etc.

      @nosnowflakezone3608 11 месяцев назад +1

      Excellent. Many thanks for taking the time to reply. I think the painting in black sounds like a good option for me. I have used this method a little but am not very good at it so I will check out the video you refer to. Many thanks once again.@@bydesignmethod

      Hey Michael,
      If you're using V1 your icon will look slightly different.
      If you don't see it, go to "View > Customise Tools' and you should see it there. Drag it into your toolbar.
      Let me know if you have any issues!

    Just watched this. I have a round object I would like to fade into the background. Is there a tool or technique that allows a 360-degree fade around a object?
    Thx!

    • @bydesignmethod
      @bydesignmethod  3 месяца назад

      Hey,
      Nothing for that exact effect. It sounds like a lot but I would add 4 masks (they're unlimited) and use the gradient tool to pull from each side. I've done it with top/bottom and sides before.
      You could also use your paint brush (check out my masking video if needed) to manually fade the round object, you could get a pretty good look that way.

      this video isn't on masking, hence the title.
