    I like shooting 36 caliber 79 grain lead ball made for ball and cap black powder revolvers its the same size as 3/8 steel ammo and works with the same rated band sets they shoot flat 20 to 25 yards and the steel will carry flat out to 40 yards I noticed. The feel of the band release with the lead balls feels really nice its taxed the rubber more and absorbs more of the band energy so it feels smooth also less sound effect of that classic band snap from your slingshot. I love my combination choice of the 2 ammo choices with the same bands gives me the best of both worlds.

      I shoot mostly .36 lead. Buying boxes of 000 buck shot is the easiest near me.

    hello sir, i'm a beginner shooter. i just want to ask if it is alright to practice on 2 different ammo size. thanks in advance. your channel helps me alot, i learned so much from you. thanks again and godbless. ☺️

    • @simpleshot

      You sure can. However, as a beginner, you should use just one and lock in on it for best results! We always recommend starting with one bandset and one ammo!

    Nathan, what are your thoughts on ammo size if and when the sport reaches the Olympics? I shoot 8mm, can't really stand the larger stuff. Just curious what others are prepping/considering to use for tournament shooting, knowing that restrictions are becoming more prevalent.

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  3 года назад +1

      It's unlikely that the larger stuff will be in any world-level competition. The trend is smaller, not larger. Our friends in China (the best in the world at this time) are at the front of that movement.

    I got the axiom ocularis without purchasing bands, is it ok to shoot 3/8 instead of 7/16? I couldn’t find myself near any shop selling the 7/16 in my location

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  3 года назад +1

      Yes, but tune them accordingly. If you go for a 5x elongation, they're going to be hot. Just back off your elongation a bit and they'll be great for 3/8!

    This video was super helpful! I'm just getting into slingshots. Would you recommend 3/8 or 1/2 ammo for a starter like me?

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  2 года назад +1

      Either or, just be sure to match your bands. 3/8" may be best just for the lighter bands.

    Great videos. Love the scout xt. I love shooting rocks with oversized or doubled bands. Thats how I learned. I used a slingshot that was difficult to aim to develop my stabilizer muscles. Then I moved to smaller more realistic bands. The round ammo is easy to shoot now. But I still love chucking rocks.
    My only real feedback:
    Could use some better consistency regarding audio across your videos. Normalization and compression are your friends. Good day.

    Hi Nathan.. I have question about the new Scout LT... I recently purchased one and really like it... I tend to use looped bands for reliability due to the environment I am in. I have played around with fastening the heavier looped bands with the flip clip and not wild about it.... Can I cut a groove like the torque for looped band attachment? Or better yet can I buy another with the slot already cut? Keep up the good work. I thought I was set with my prior SS's but the Scout LT is really nice upgrade. Thanks!!

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  3 года назад

      We do not recommend cutting the groove because it weakens the forktip. I guess we would ask why you are intent on shooting heavy tubes on the Scout LT?

    • @AceMBP

      @@simpleshot okay.. I scramble around the desert and seem to destroy flat bands... I like the thicker Dankung tubes because they hold up... When I try to attach them with the flip clips they don't stay put well... I suppose I can do the thru hole and loop method... I will give that try..

      @@AceMBP I lived in hot environment aswell.. i protect my flat band by applying a rubber silicon grease on my band, .. and im been using the same 0.65mm flat band for more than 8 months now without any degraded of rubber occur yet.. if im not using that silicon grease, my band can only last not more than 3 months before it getting softer and snap..

      @@AceMBP There is a great product called 303 protectant spray that was developed for the space industry. It works great on slingshot bands and a little goes a long way. Be careful not to get any on the pouch tie-offs or they could come undone, its that slick. It dries clean with no residue to collect dirt. You can buy it in any good hardware, auto parts and marine supply store. You may see different versions for each industry, but its all the same stuff, just marketing and packaging. I called the company to ask what the differences were between products and was told just packaging.

    weird question. instead of having a pouch can you just make a double long piece of rubber. you tie the rubber to both ends of the slingshot forks... DONE. or is that a recipie for accidentally punching yourself in the face? tried making a pouch out of old jeans and duct tape. it broke and I punched myself in the face. lol. not as bad as the time i tried to shoot a pencil and stabbed myself. i have had great results with pennies though. have you experimented with that?

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  2 года назад

      Great question. This is asking for a RTS a return to sender shot. It's a recipe for disaster. I have never tried pennies. For pouches you can make them with several layers of duct tape, old boot leather, or glove leather.
