      I did liked Logan in season 6 but then he sucked a lot on season 8 because of what he did with Taylor, also it wasn't him that murdered Palmer and i don't think he wanted to murder him but he was involved in that cospiracy, the guy who really ordered it was Alan Winson.

      I agree. She had so much integrity and strength in Day 7 and most of Day 8, but she lost herself because she wanted the peace treaty so badly. She was a great character though. IMO only 24 and The Sopranos did character development this well.

    So tragic that no one knows that Jack didn't just go on a rampage for revenge for Renee, he felt betrayed by his own country and was driven towards nothing but revenge. He lost everything for his country and to be shut out for doing what was right, the last thing he had left, it broke him. That's why he wears the jacket for the remainder of the season. It's meant to symbolise his nakedness.
    No support, no back up, no morals, no second chances, no false peace, no justice. Just revenge.

    You cannot have peace without justice. Peace is not the absence of conflict, witness the Cold War wherein we only refrained from conflict. The desire for the destruction of the other remained. Our actions might have been considered peaceful, however, that was not our desire.
    Peace only occurs when all parties are in agreement and mutual respect for the other is evidenced. If justice is demanded by the other and is denied, peace cannot be obtained. The foundation must be built upon common ground.

    This is a moral quandary. Does Jack want Justice or to have it, his way? Jack has no problem disobeying orders when he has skin in the game (when Jack disobeyed presidential orders to release nerve gas in a mall). But he will do what’s he’s told, when he isn’t out for revenge (killing someone at CTU).

    • @ethrsag735
      @ethrsag735 Год назад

      As Logan once said, 'He will claw his way back from the ends of the earth.' He is man who stands by the spirit and principle of justice. This season begins with him wanting to go with his daughter and her family to LA, to be away from all this. But she understood that a core part of his character is doing the right thing and loyalty to their country. This was a case of both, but as we see time and time again, no one, with the exception of Chloe as she always is there backing him, can match his level of resolve and principle. So here's a better question to your quandary; Which is closer to true peace; a civilization living in a peace bought with lies, deception and the ambition of craven leaders, or one whose citizens' iron dedication to justice and personal conviction not only deters their enemies from action, but in fact earns their respect for it?

    • @kenstu
      @kenstu 3 года назад +7

      @@cloudtx
      Jack was broken in Season 7. Upon being on the verge of losing his freedom, he couldn't find it in his heart to forgive himself for everything that happened to him since Day 1. I really liked how he couldn't be in the same room with Kim after she walked out on him in Season 5; hence him saying that he thought he was doing the right thing by staying away, and that he had an even bigger reason to because he was dying. In Season 8, I didn't think there was that great of a connection between Jack and Renee Walker, whose character was also assassinated and I'll get to that shortly. Following her humiliating death, Jack sought to bring her killers to justice and was shut down by President Taylor, who I'll also get to shortly. I've seen Jack be betrayed by a president in Season 5 and to me, him going off the deep end the way that he did ultimately ruined his character as he was planning on moving back to Los Angeles with Kim upon bonding with his granddaughter. I would like to have seen him expose what President Taylor, Suviroff, and Charles Logan were doing as opposed to going on a killing spree.
      Furthermore, given the ridiculousness of Season 8's story as a whole, I found myself bored from beginning to end when Jack went after the Russian assassins, and later Charles Logan - who I've also seen be brought down already - which to me is redundant.
      President Taylor's character was assassinated because in Season 7, her character was flawed, yet relatable. Albeit she was screwing up left and right, she hadn't long ago lost her son Roger to the same people undermining her foreign policy. In spite of all that, she managed to see the day through with Jack and the FBI. What's unrealistic is Taylor holding her daughter Olivia accountable for her actions while in Season 8, she tried to cover up dealings and assassinations as a Middle Eastern country was nearing a peace agreement with the US, which was doomed to fail to begin with. To me, this made her character worse than what it was in Season 7.
      Renee Walker was humiliated before being assassinated in the most horrible way imaginable. At the end of Season 7, she adopted Jack's interrogation tactics upon being warned to make choices she could live with. Nevertheless, she's sexually exploited in order to take down a Russian henchman, and gets popped after riding Jack. As her character had so much potential, I didn't like how her part in the story ended. This is why I feel like these characters were assassinated.

      @@kenstu Good points. Season 8 to me was a mistake. I've warmed to parts of it more on repeated viewing of clips, but it was just a season that existed for the hell of it. They should have just postponed production on it for a year or not do it at all and end it when you suggested at season 7, it needed to breathe abit after working hard to rehabilitate the overall premise after the bloated season 6. 7 did a great job, then it should have ended or they should have taken a break. But they just wanted Jack to do Jack things, instead of coming up with good things for Jack to do and good reasons for him to do them. 8 is better on repeated viewing, but yeah, my first sit through was quite disappointing. It's like I like it because it's 24, but it's an off brand version of just the hits and trying to create a story around it. Only good thing to come of it was providing extra padding for Jack's character in Die Another Day, which basically just existed to try and redeem the legacy of the show in some way.
