- The hardest part of tying an Elk Hair Caddis is getting the wing right. The hair can twist, bunch up, fall off, spin... and a number of other things before you get it right. This technique takes care of that. Is it traditional? No. Is it easy and does it work? Yes.

Almost like a Humpty variation, nice
Nice, you make it look easy. Looks like you could tie in some legs and this doubles as a beetle pattern.
I absolutely love how you use more of the hair in the fly rather than cutting it short.
Thank you! 😊
I like it, but I'd have to hackle the head only cuz I do that...that tie will be in my box for the sedge hatch...nicely done.
Thank you.
can you send link (amazon) for the body material?
this is the brand I use: www.naturesspiritflytying.net/dubbing.html If you look at the bottom of this page you will see a number of different dubbing brushes.
How to measure the fibers ?
That's a good question. Trial and error based on hook size
So if I tie this, will I too fall into the river?
Twice!
What’s the body material? Great video!
Sorry for the late reply. I just got back from fishing for a week in Idaho. These are old Mohair brushes. Amazon sells similar things though. It makes buggy bodies very quickly.
Thanks
Will deer tail work?
That's a good question. I don't know why not.
