i always love watching you tie, even if it's just a simple pattern like this one. i personally do one thing different, though. i start my thread and leave a long tag to counter wrap the peacock, just to make it a little more durable.

Good looking fly. I would probably put some wire on that body to help it last a little longer. Peacock herl is really easily broken. I even put a rib on griffiths gnats now as well. All the best, Sean

Hi Barry! I haven’t talked to you in quite a while. I wanted to give you a tid bit of interesting info about this pattern. There is a pattern called a Pass Lake or a Pass Lake Special that is tied like this pattern. There is also a variation that is even more effective if the body was changed to black micro chenille. It is especially effective in the Montana of the Midwest, the Driftless area of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Additionally, is you add a couple of sprigs of red Krystal Flash to the tail, the Brookies can’t stay off it and take rates increase exponentially. I have also seen both the base pattern and variant tied in sizes 8 thru 2, weighted and fished as a streamer on a tight line. Most effective as well. Remember the red KF but keep it short (1/2 hook gap(e)).
Edit: I should tell you there are many patterns called Pass Lake, but what I discussed is what I’ve seen for myself.

Nice pattern! Not too much emotional attachment if you lose it and it should be very effective!

Hackles are superfluous, in my experience.
