This must be right after Karl and Wolfgang left the band, EDIT: I see Karl now, but Wolfgang was replaced with.... Fritz Hilpert I think?

Karl stayed until August of that year, after the "semi-secret" mini tour this concert was a part of. Wolfgang left a little after Techno Pop (Electric Cafe) was released (1986)

@@KaiserKiloOfficial Karl's biography puts a nail in the coffin regarding when Wolfgang actually left. Wolfgang officially departed in early 1990. Florian came to Wolfgang's furniture workshop to tell him about "The Mix" project and an upcoming 1990 tour and asked Wolfgang if he would like to participate. Wolfgang refused and said that being a part of Kraftwerk no longer brings him joy and he prefers company of new friends.
Karl, on the other hand, was so happy about the 1990 tour that he even telephoned Wolfgang, only to hear the answer "Trust me, there's no point in tagging along with those two lads anymore".
      And sorry for the longpost.

@@NikolayZubkov In Wolfgangs book there is nothing mentioned about this, rather that he wanted to be approached by Ralf and Florian and he feels like Ringo Starr in the beatles after the split-up. He says he phoned them in 89 and there were no response. So there seem to be something to debate about there exactly how he didnt want anything to do with them. Only in 96 he says there was an unofficial approach to join the band again from Ralf, but then he (Wolfgang) had his own project.

@@SuperHammaren Ah yes, I've also heard that story about Ralf offering Wolfgang to come back to Kraftwerk.
A real shame that Ralf and Florian saw Wolfgang more as a tool back in their together years.

@@polyrobo Karl was becoming more and more unhappy with how things were being organized by R&F. Years were put into production and re-production of Techno Pop album. Cancelled plans of a potential Techno Pop tour due to the album being a commercial flop at the time. Countless months, even years being invested into making the studio fully digital by the end of 80's. Remaking old tracks using new digital equipment, which involved sound and patch programming from scratch. All that plus R&F making a big mistake (from Karl's perspective) of buying a Synclavier only to spend even more months and years studying it. The working atmosphere in the studio from Karl's perspective was becoming grim. Karl was hoping that R&F would finally focus on making new stuff, which he was longing for. Production of "The Mix" made Karl understand that he could cross out all his plans and hopes for making new stuff.
He was feeling that things needed to be changed. Any attempts to tell that to R&F would not yield any results. For R&F everything was fine. Sudden announcement of a 1990 test tour gave Karl hope that taking their new studio for a test drive would finally set things straight, bring back positivity and restore working atmosphere.
On 23rd of July 1990, Karl once again mustered all his courage to once again persuade R&F about making changes in working and creative conditions, but R&F did not react - positions of the three remained unchanged. After all events during the past 15 years Karl was doing his best to remain loyal towards R&F, but that day it clearly came to Karl that his time in Kraftwerk had come to an end. Karl announced his departure, left his keys on a mixer, bid farewell, walked out of "Kling Klang" studio without looking behind, drove out of inner courtyard, took a right turn onto Mintropstrasse and drove towards new life...
