Good review I also get annoying calls for my warrantee for my car even though I don’t drive two toes up
Lol I get them all the time. They are so annoying!
So glad I found your channel it's so educational I love learning about different people
Thank you!! I’m glad to have you here
Very good review Kayla! I completely agree with your aesthetic concerns. If the watch is pretty, interesting and cute, a I would more likely wear it than not. I currently wear watches that I can’t see at all because they attract a lot of compliments due to the look of them. And I have small wrists as well and I find that watches are easier to wear and show off than are looser fitting bracelets. But I digress. Great review and happy new year! Love, Beverly
I absolutely agree with everything you said. I have a really pretty watch that I wear frequently, more as a bracelet than as a watch since I can’t see it. I’m not sure if it even works anymore lol
Thank you so much can I thank you and I like your honesty I like when you're honest❤
This was a wonderful review, Cayla. The braille Dot Smart watch sounds very interesting. I have a regular braille wrist watch that has the standard watch face with the minute and hour hands. Thanks for reviewing.
Thank you! That watch sounds like a good simple option. I’m glad they are coming out with more options so people can choose which one best fits their needs
Thanks for the review, Cayla. Really interesting (and large) watch. Interesting to hear your comments, too, about learning braille numbers. I know it comes down to practice, but I look at braille with some degree of awe that people master it and read so quickly by touch. Always fun to see your videos. You deserve more followers.
Thank you! I always appreciate your comments. Braille is definitely something that is difficult to learn, but like any skill it takes a lot of hard work at first but then seems like it just comes naturally
I have one and like it. I agree about the design. I preferred one of the prototypes where it was more like a fitbit rectangular shape and the cells were sideways across your wrist, but it made the face smaller and slimlined
also beginner braille readers might like to know the manual is in grade 1, and there is only a sentence or two per page, the rest is a large tactile graphic of watch face
Oh that’s really interesting about that watch shape. I think it would probably be good if they made both styles and people could just choose which one they like better. Also thank you for sharing that helpful information about the manual
Base on your description, I think that Braille smart watch is an amazing gadget. I hope it will be available here in the Philippines someday. Thank you so much for sharing about it.
It may be. I would encourage you to check their website. The watch is available in a lot of different countries
I have a watch also that talks to me when I press its button as too I am also legally blind. I recently have started my channel as well for awareness and inspiration.
I stumbled across this looking for information about this watch. Thank you for your review. A gentleman from Australia had a podcast where he demoed the watch a year ago. But I found your review to be a bit more helpful. For example, I don’t know if he talked about the watch being able to tell time when it’s not Bluetooth to the phone. Also, nobody ever talked about the band. I have always liked leather bands on my watch is not the metal expansion bands. This seems a bit different than even an expansion band.
I lost my remaining vision 10 years ago. And have been trying to learn braille for the last probably 20 to 30 years. Growing up I read large print. I have always struggled to read traditional braille watches. The women’s are too small and I can’t feel the hands very well. And the men’s watches are just way too large. I thought this would be an interesting watch, because it gives the braille in more of a digital sense or it’s just the straight numbers.
I would really like to get my hands on this before I purchase something like this. But I don’t often go to the Blind conventions in the summertime.
I’m so glad you found this video helpful. And I have been enjoying reading all of your thoughtful comments ❤️
Very thorough review. Thank you
You are very welcome!
Delighted to hear about this watch. Are bands replaceable?
No, the band is fixed to the watch. Maybe in the future though this could be a feature. I think it would improve the watch
Hi Cayla:
Thanks for this great review of the Dot watch. It sounds like something that I, as an avid braille user would love. Does it come with a charging cable, and if so, what type of charging does it require? Also, I'm assuming that once the battery dies, one would go to a watch/jewelery store to have it replaced, or would it need to be sent back to the manufacturer?
Man, I would feel overjoyed if I had this as well as the latest Apple watch.
Anyway, thanks again. Take care.
It does come with a charger. It’s very similar to the Apple Watch charger where it is just a magnetic circle that you set the watch on. It is rechargeable, so no need to take it anywhere to get the battery replaced
Thanks again I will keep an eye out for this-PUN-of course :-)
That’s better than an Apple Watch; referring to the battery. At the moment with Apple Watch Series 3, I have to charge it every night for 90 minutes or so
Yeah the battery life was definitely a pleasant surprise

Cayla, how do you feel the watch would do duribility wise? I farm and am a blind vendor, so if I were to ever make the move from an Apple Watch that would be a major concern. I've never had any real issues out of braille displays on notetakers, but I've always been warned to be careful with them, and being worn on your wrist could be a lot different obviously. Thanks, I enjoy your videos, you're always very well spoken and thoughtful!
Thank you! I can’t say for sure how it would hold up, but my personal opinion just by feeling it is that it doesn’t seem like it would be super durable
@@CaylawithaC That's what I would expect too! Thanks!
This was a really interesting video! I have never heard of this watch before and I’m quite impressed. After using both, which would you say you like best the apple watch or the dot watch?
It’s hard to say which one is better since they are pretty different. The Apple Watch definitely does a lot more, but if you use voiceover you can really never use it discreetly. The dot watch is great if you are wanting to access information quietly. But like I said it doesn’t do nearly as much like with all of the fitness tracking and stuff. It just really depends on what you are wanting most out of your watch
This is Barry wanting to thank you for posting this video. I am wondering if I could get a mailing address so that I could send you letters
Woow you are a great giving so muth information
Thank you! I try to be thorough in my reviews
apparently you can't get this anymore? I contacted the company. Their products do not seem to be made for the general public you have to be an organization or institution. How did you get yours?
Oh that’s interesting. I didn’t know that. The company reached out to me and sent me the watch so I could do a review on my channel
U look good today
Thank you, that’s so nice
Is the company just for blindness support?
I believe so but I can’t say for sure
I’m new to RUclips too, I just started like eight months ago. I’m wondering how you make that intro on your videos, could you possibly make a video about how you do those intro things. thank you. 😊
I’m pretty sure the company introduced a second generation of the watch, maybe that fixes the texting problem. It might also fix the sensor problem.
Cayla girl this dot watch review was amazing. You did a great job and make sure you head over to my channel to see the videos I did. My channel name is Jacqueline Andrews and eventhough it was never diagnosed I have had the symptoms of Retinitis Pigmentosa my entire life. My life is very very complicated.
Wow, had to take the Apple Watch for the dot watch!
I have to say I have them both and I really like them both
I’ve never heard of this watch before.
I believe it’s relatively new. That’s the beauty of doing these review videos, it gets the word out about products that people wouldn’t have known about otherwise
Talking watches are cool.
Yeah talking watches are another good option for the blind.
Hi cayla, my name is Edward Evans. And I am writing you today because I would like to know your last name. I also have a friend whos name is Barry. Barry is Visually impaired and I would like to know if we could find a way to provide Barry with a watch instead of purchasing him a watch. Please respond to this comment whenever you have a chance.
Thank you
