Women who get C-sections are willing to be cut open and permanently scarred to ensure their baby makes it through the procedure. Some women also don't have a choice and have to do it to make sure they and the baby survive. I honestly think that's pretty hardcore mum.

To be fair, modern C-sections (the planned, non-emergency ones) are very safe.
With our children, we had one vaginal birth and one C-section, and as a mom, I 100% recommend C-section.
48 hour labor followed by a difficult birth which caused the child to require a week in the NICU and 3 months of recovery for the birth mother
      vs
30 minutes C-section, happy healthy baby, 6 week recovery... and a scar.
Fuck that Dude-bro mom who claims that suffering and potentially harming a child is somehow more 'motherly' than taking the safer route. If I had it to do over, I'd do C-sections for both.

Right? And some ftm men have to have them because their anatomy may have changed through surgery or something… I know that most men seem to remove their uterus when they get bottom surgery, but some keep it in case they ever need to carry the baby in their relationship. So yeah, lots of situations where it’s necessary.

Exactly. My aunt got induced on a Monday. On FRIDAY there was still no sign of my baby cousin making it through, and they had a c section done that weekend. The trouble still wasn’t over since my aunt and cousin both caught a bacterial infection and my cousin was in the NICU for the next week and a half to recover and bc she wasn’t eating like she should. Luckily both aunt and baby are healthy and home now, although aunt still needs to be careful to avoid reopening the c section scar.

This. That whole post reminded me of all the gatekeeping when I was young and of course they would say the ones calling out the "gatekeeping" are "fake" to try and make themselves feel better. I remember when I was a teenager if you didn't fit in a box with a certain group of goths you weren't "goth" and it has made my blood boil since. I have always loved goth fashion since I was 12 and never got out of it. It wasn't a phase for me and I am sad that the youth of today are STILL doing it to each other today. Sadly I don't think gatekeeping alternative fashions will ever end.

@RavenMenel It's exactly how I feel! I grew up in the early 2000s, and always had to deal with goths arguing over home made clothes or store bought from the new goth shops. Or they would argue about the "traits" of a mall goth when mall goths are just goths in a mall. It's ridiculous to argue over the things we all love.

The original Gothic definition was actually architecture design. It sort evolved and branched off that to mean all manner of things. I don't think there is one specific definition of Goth and tbh the majority of people who would be defined as Goth in my experience hate being defined by the term rather than who they are in the first place.

When you give birth, you are literally left with what is essentially an open wound inside your body the size of a dinner plate from where your placenta was attached to your uterus. You HAVE to rest and let your body heal. It's not being lazy, you are recovering! Don't let anyone tell you it's lazy to take it easy after birth. It's actually detrimental to the healing process to do too much too soon after birth and can cause you to literally hemorrhage!

And on top of that, that whole c-section thing irks me to irrational levels.
My mum gave natural birth twice, and had two abdominal surgeries. She told me she'll always pick natural over a c-section, because the pain goes away once you're done, and the wounds are bearable. With a c-section, you get a large incision that hurts for months on the skin, and a second one on the organ. It's much more painful in the long run.

I feel like they just have an aesthetic in their head and don't realise you'd need to be rich to live in the way they have pictured because to afford the mortgage repayments, bills and groceries either the husband needs to have a high paying job or both would have to work.

      @tezzanoia 2 месяца назад +1

@@Zoe.m. I mean, it can be possible without being rich (you do still need some degree of starting capital, but not on a rich person level), but that means living in everything but luxury and working hard. I actually watch someone on here, Nate (Narroway Homestead) who got a property in West Virginia, lived in an old camper for a few years, slowly built things like an outhouse, an outdoor kitchen and rainwater collection system, as well as a solar setup to have electricity and now finally has built living quarters. He had some starting capital obviously to buy the land (apparently it's relatively cheap there though) and stuff like that and by now he has an online shop with beard care stuff and coffee that he sells alongside some other things to help finance stuff a bit better. And obviously he's also active on social media and earns some degree of money there. But even with that it took year until his living quarters were comparable to what most people are used to. All this to say: I think he's a good example of how that lifestyle is possible without being rich, but it won't be comfortable for a good while and requires you to be able to do handywork and stuff to diy things you need to survive
I fully agree on the aesthetic thing btw, like yeah, that's 100% it. They only see the top most, aesthetic layer of what they think homesteading is, but don't grasp the reality that lays behind it ("oh, I'd be milking cows and [doing several other things] all day" completely ignores that cows need to be fed, their stable needs regular cleaning, they need to be moved between grazing spots as to not overgraze the land and so on, that part they conveniently forgot about - or don't even realise is part of it)

@@Zoe.m. I could swear I replied to you, wth
Basically, what I said is you don't have to be rich necessarily, but you do need some money to start with to buy cheap land somewhere. Theres a guy on here, Nate/Narroway Homestead, who is a perfect example of that imo. He got a big ass property in West Virginia several years ago with almost nothing on it, put an old camper that he added a wood stove to on a big clearing to live in and then started building everything himself. An outhouse (technically even two), an outdoor kitchen, everything he needs for solar power, a duck coop, rainwater collection and after several years he built living quarters. Obviously none of this is free though, in his case there's still an income through his shop selling beard care products and coffee mainly and he does social media, but being off the grid and in a spot with very low taxes he does pay much less for everyday life than the average person. So it is possible without being rich, but that very much comes at the cost of living comfort (especially in the first years) and you need to work incredibly hard
Also, regarding the aesthetic thing, yeah, absolutely. They just see the top most layer of things where they look pretty in their imagination, but they overlook (or ignore) everything beneath that. Taking the "milking cows" example: who does all the other care that needs doing for the cows? Who feeds them, cleans their stable, makes sure they don't graze on the same land the whole time as to not overgraze it? Also, milking by hand isn't easy either, the milk needs taken care of after and cows are not cheap (there's a reason Nate has small animals like ducks), they need a lot of food and if they gotta see the vet, oh boy, have fun with that (and I'm saying that as a German, where vet costs are A LOT more affordable than in the US for example)

She was nearly a foot shorter, so it was less convenient for both of us.
She could walk under my arm, but preferred to like… hide behind the door in a crowded foyer.
But she was also always pushing me into the “man’s” role in the relationship.
It was constant whiplash. That’s not why we broke up.
ultimately it was “this girl is straight, and that doesn’t feel like a good thing and I’m not sure how to deal with that and I’m also just plan crazy so I shouldn’t be in a relationship.” I don’t mean “mentally ill” with “crazy” (though that’s the case) I was just out-of-control and didn’t want to get under control, because it was comfortable.

The “show my child how to be treated so they are not impressed by someone’s mediocrity” can be genuinely sweet and fun for kids. My dad took me on daddy daughter dates where we would dress night and go out to dinner. He taught me and showed me how I should be treated both as a lady and by people in general. Opening doors, pulling out seats, hanging up my coat for me, all that. If you are treated badly in your childhood you are a bit more likely to accept mediocre treatment because it’s better than what you had. However, this only works if you teach your kids that they have to be deserving of this treatment and polite, not entitled, and the parent can’t be trying to keep their child to themselves forever.

The "real mom" about birth and C-section 26:14 I ctually had that in person in 1985. A woman on the labor floor caw the C/S on my baby's bassinet while I was in hall walking her back to the unit and actually said to my face: "Oh, you had a C-section and took the easy way out" the nurse scrambled from the nurses station to separate us because I was going to deck her. I had 24 hrs labor, and hour of transition labor (abnormally long) the largest episiotomy known to medical science the trans lateral to try forceps, 24 hours of dry labor, internal monitoring, resulting in infection: uterine infection, sepsis, peritonitis resulting from baby crashing with heart rate in the low 60s forcing an emergency C-section where the doctor only changed his gloves to do it and didn't have time to wash his hands. We both nearly died.

I grew up on a farm and it frustrates me so much when these faux homesteaders and cottagecore people romanticize farm living because it sure as hell ain't that easy. We had angus cattle and chickens and we also mowed hay/prepped that and grew corn (maize) and soy beans. I recall us growing wheat once when I was a kid but most of the time it was corn or soy beans. My parents have struggled to feed us and themselves for a couple of decades now, though it's just them now (all us kids are grown and moved on). It's not a sweet little romantic thing. I'd like to see them last one day as a farmer. I guarantee you they won't make it.

As someone who helps my family run a small farm, I had a good chuckle at the post that said they wanted the farm life because it was easier than girlbossing. Farming is only easy if you a) have lots of family who are also working the farm or b) you're rich and can hire help so you don't have to do everything yourself.
Most days it actually just feels like trying to patch a ship that continually keeps springing leaks. One morning you'll find an entire stretch of fence that got torn down by your neighbor's cattle and you have to spend several hours in 100+ degree Fahrenheit heat fixing it. Or one of your horses steps on a rock and goes lame so you have to pay $480 for a farm call and construct an entire smaller pen for him to keep him from moving around too much. Or a storm tears down your chicken wire so you have to repair it quickly so your chickens don't escape. Or you have a family of packrats move into your feedroom and start tearing through your feed bags so you have to keep setting humane traps and escorting them to a field several miles away. (These are all real issues I've had in the past lol)
Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's certainly not the easy life. Frankly there is no such thing as the easy life unless you have enough money to live comfortably without worry.

If the induction doesn't take however they perform a c-section. Luckily it didn't come to that. Our kid was not waiting and was out within about 12 hours of my wife reaching the first induction. But we could have been out the door that day after a night of labour, a c-section on the other hand is a SUPER invasive operation. My wife would have been in the hospital in recovery for a week after that. Not to lessen the trauma of quote/unquote "natural" birth but saying either is an easy option is dumb.

Like DUDE, less than 20% of people on RUclips are from the US. So you're accusing me of 1) being from or living in your country, and 2) being the opposite of you in the (very strange) 2-party system. Like wot.
It may just be me, but when someone is so aggressive about their political leanings, especially when those leanings, perhaps only just in recent memory (? benefit of the doubt) are fraught with so many *really* bad qualities, it makes me instantly dislike them, and write them off as someone I'd never want to be friendly with in any way.

It's strange because there are so very few liberals in the US. Democrats are middle- or moderate-right conservatives, but because of American politics they think they're far left.

Personally, I dont think most people even in America are that serious. Its mostly just the dipshits at the far end because both sides can be as bad as each other. Shockingly, being at the extreme of a community, regardless of what that is, tends to be quite destructive.

Doc here, the “pasta measurement” thing is actually not that. It’s a device used for medical students, young doctors and any other providers in a labour room to practice before caring for a real patient in labour, to detect sizes of a cervical opening, which tells how progressed the labour is. Since the best way to tell that is to know this dilatation. Hope I don’t get censored by RUclips since I’m just trying to be educational here 😊

You unlocked a memory I buried. I had a lady full on screeching at me for holding the door open. It was at work coming back in from break. She was in the middle of the line and held people up. Some people went around her, but no one stood up for me or tried to talk her down. All I could do was walk away. I left that job not long after and I didn't hold doors open for people for a long time. I still have an anxiety response when I do. It is a real thing. Karens do actually exist in the wild. I wouldn't say it's common, but it only has to happen once to have a permanent psychological effect. I guess the good news of watching this video is I know what to talk about in my next therapy appointment.

One thing, I swore to myself, after the experience of having my first two babies and my ex husband immediately expecting me to take on everything as before, plus taking care of a newborn and later a newborn and a toddler and having no other support is: I won't let this happen to friends or my kids or their partners.
It's not a flex to immediately take on work, household chores, older kids and what not after giving birth. Giving birth is always a trauma from which the body has to recover from and comes with a lot of side effects, like hormones bouncing all over the place, irregular sleep, a while little human to take care of and much more.
A family (not only the mother) should get support from others, to peacefully settle into this new way of living, to give everyone the chance to be happy about it.

34:35 girl, you have no idea what goes into those practices. Ballet and dance of all forms is more than just flaunting your curves, it is an extreme practice that requires proper dieting, strenuous workout routines to maintain a flexible form and not break an ankle every time, and if you have not tried to stand on one leg for longer than a minute with the other leg in some strange position your body is not originally capable of, you have no right to judge. Dancing and ballet ESPECIALLY is an art and a sport and should not be disrespected.

Don't forget the bleeding feet and toes from practicing too much, and when a blister pops and goes all over your point shoes, so gross. Having to then soak your raw feet in disinfectant and salt. I loved Ballet but definitely don't miss that aspect. As both a Martial Artist and a former Ballerina I can honestly say Ballet was just as brutal.

@@masoncampbell8140 Honestly my closest experience I can say with this is roller skating. I got big blisters on my toes afterward, and that was just from having fun. I dance as a passing time and like to do some of those more performance-like dances and after a while... it gets very exhausting and can hurt if you don't stretch before hand. I have high respect for ballet performers simply out of trying to do what they do. My ankles were not prepared.

The girl in the first pic was a figure skater, so you can add insane jumps and spinning until you want to puke (they have a harness that spins them around so fast that blood pools into their arms) to the list. Oh, and more falls, a lot more. They need to train dance, gymnastics, and ballet, plus on top of that train to _somehow_ do all of them at once while zooming around on skates without breaking their ankles - or their necks. It's an extreme sport if anything, hockey players at least get pads.

    • @masoncampbell8140
      @masoncampbell8140 2 месяца назад +8

@@midnighttheartist708 I left Ballet a long time ago now, so I doubt I could even get up on point anymore, but even years later that training comes in handy. When I first started Karate, I was able to pick it up quickly because of the balance, co-ordination, stamina and endurance I had learned from years of dance. Standing on one leg to kick repeatedly, seemed like a piece of cake compared to spinning on the toes of one foot, and learning Kata (set routines) was easy when you were used to learning 6--7 routines for a single show. I remember cutting the top of my foot in a competition once, just bandaging it up and going right back in, saying 'It's fine, I used to do Ballet, my feet have been through worse than this'. 😂

Seeing someone as less serious because they're dressed femininely is . . . hmmm, it seems like some kindofa bias there, some internalized something she might need to work through.
