As most of you know.......torque is really what kills these motors and we're obviously at the very limits of the stock block. We were close to the limits even last time at 409 whp and 368 wtq on Ron's Mustang Dyno.
Plan is to do a full motor build with Outfront V3 Closed Shortblock, CP Pistons, CP Rods, Portflow Pocket Port Heads, and upgraded 1/2" ARP Headstuds and ASSEMBLE IT MYSELF with the help of a few local engine building friends.
Stay tuned for more WRX content as we go really into the deep end! Авто/Мото
I love it man! Keep up the good work! Your build has been an inspiration for me
Thank you!!
Thanks for adding the part about oiling the turbo in here. It's been years since I did my flex fuel kit install so don't remember how to oil it. Going to make sure I do this for my V4 install
Nicely done Brother!!!🙌🏽 im saving up to get some more goodies. Thanks again for making these videos and sharing. This is how I learn for the day I do this stuff my ride haha. Happy Holidays!
Huge thanks brotha 🙏
9:50 You don't have to pull that fuse. If you hold down the throttle to 100% before starting the car and then attempt to start the engine with the throttle at 100%, it will engage only the starter. it's super handy for priming the oil system like this or doing compression tests.
True totally forgot about that one....
thanks for the note on break in process.
No worries, hope your turbo upgrade is running well!
Boy Eric got a lot of Jack stands *👏
Yeah he's pulling motors out all the time so lots of jack stands, lots of jacks, and lots of engine stands and hoists.......perfect for our upcoming FA20DIT Closed Deck Block build 😉
I just subscribed for more awesomeness
Subscribed back! Love your content with that ETS kit!!
Which trans/clutch setup was on this
What fuel are you running on this setup?
Yus sirr.
Boosty Choo Choo Boi gonna make bang bang noises
Just curious would you have gone w/ the EWG header option? had they not discontinued it ofc. Sucks that they don't make them anymore due to the whole EPA thing.
I think I still wouldn't because of how strict my state is......would have been ticketed before I left my neighborhood
@@eddiestsla damn it really is that bad in cali haha! also did you notice any change in sounds?? considering this piece as well!
@@marcn1777 no change in exhaust tone really by much
Do you think is possible to replace the OEM wastegate actuator with an aftermarket one, while the turbo still attached to the engine?
Seems very difficult to do
No possible way.....zero room to do that
@@eddiestsla thanks man!
I’m putting one on in April can’t wait! how much hp you putting down ? Any probs with stock block ,clutch ? I’m at 355 right now on flex with a top mount and full bolt on minis header
I made 444 whp with the Socal V3 and those header with meth injection
@@eddiestsla is that stock block? And are you on flex tune or just pump gas & meth? I don’t know much about meth injection
@@subylover0829 yeah stock block still running strong lol
@@eddiestsla that makes me really happy to know this! Are you on oem clutch & tranny also? Sorry for all the questions lol I’m worried cause so many people blow these cars up but I feel like it’s all in the tune
When u put on the socal V3 turbo did u put the turbine cover back on with the turbine ceramic coated?
Yes it was ceramic coated by them
My bad didn't watch the whole video lol
By any chance you have the size to tap in/re thread size where the turbo inlet goes?😥one of mine stripped
Ask Grimmspeed I had to retap mine too but forgot the thread size
@@eddiestsla thank you 🙏🏼
Did you consider getting the killer b header ceramic coated?
No I didn't
This exact thing is my next step.... any advice you have? Or anything to look out for before hand? Worth going v3 over fp blue? Is it a very noticable power increase?
For me it was totally worth it going with the Socal V3 over the FP Blue as I got a core for like $100 locally. Plus, I'm based in Southern California so the turnaround time for the turbo was unreal compared to the 4-6 weeks backorder on FP turbos. I have my dyno tune with Phatbotti Tuning this coming Tuesday so I'll be putting up another video to show the power increases. We'll probably end up keeping the power down so I can have time to build my motor - I'll be assembling (with the help of some friends) my own built motor outfitted with Outfront V3 Closed Deck Block (less than a mile from my house to Outfront Motorsports) and Portflow Pocket Ported Heads......so if you like that kind of stuff feel free to check back!
@@eddiestsla You should add 272 cams and 1mm oversized valves on the intake and exhaust sides and dual valve springs.
@@charlvictor3714 unfortunately no cams out yet for the FA20DIT....I think IAG is working on some Kelford cams
@@eddiestsla I just bought my 272 cams from Piper in the UK. My built engine is almost complete.
@@charlvictor3714 for the FA20DIT? Very interested in seeing a video of the setup 👌
How much do you spend it.? I want to do the same process.
I scoured deals and made a lot of friends.....probably all in all I spent $10 grand including wheels and everything
Is that a countach in the back?
Hahaha a kit car
This turbo upgrade requires you to give in your stock turbo correct?
Yes, that's correct. You send it to Socal Porting for the upgrade
@@eddiestsla I see I heard you mentioned you found a shell to get ungraded instead, where did u find one. I want to go this route but don’t want to have the car not running for however long it takes to get the turbo upgraded
@@dylanwirkus2119 that's what I did and scoured FB marketplace and found one locally for $100......so it was cheap and yeah I didn't want downtime as well
You ever gotten state reff in Cali?
Yes I had it before once on my 2JZGTE Lexus and once on the WRX
@@eddiestsla damn bro. State of California suck with all the epa laws. I saw your car not long ago get posted for sale.
@@GabrielaHernandez-fq6wt car is now with a new owner......he has plans on taking things a bit further
