@@vky4434 I just got a t480s touchscreen with 512GB storage and 16GB of ram with the 8250U processor, if you want a laptop for gaming it is only worth considering if you are going to get an egpu really which can be done with the single thunderbolt three port where it is designed to dock, for general usage it is very good however. I am very happy with mine but I don't really game on it (I have tried and it is not the best), my experience with the screen is that it is alright but nothing great (This doesn't bother me like it seems to bother the tech reviewers with their 4k 144hz "standard" that is required by them) I would recommend this kind of laptop provided it is definitely the one you want, it is expensive so is worth waiting on a deal and the delivery time may take a while, apologies if this was difficult to read but that is my opinion on it

I bought it as a secondary portable laptop to my heavy non-portable gaming machine.

As a student, this laptop is perfect for taking notes and being able to draw directly on the screen at the same time. And I never have to worry about losing the stylus because it just pops right back into the housing.

I don't think the tablet/laptop thing works. I'll take a regular laptop anyday.
As of today, the X1 is $2562 (retail $3659) and the Thinkpad Yoga here is on sale for $1529.10 (retail $3809). After having watched both videos in succession, there is much to love about both. I think the sound in the Yoga here sounds similar to the Carbon. I can deal with the "wobble". lol All in all, if someone is on the fence, this is a great sale happening now.

Lew can you go on a new budget laptop that gives competition to the latest MacBook air 2019
any windows laptop is a better for value. The entry DELL XPS 13 for example. As far as I know the Air has only the option for the i5 with the Dell you can get the I7 as an option, you also get 16GB Ram and a 512GB SSD for 500€ less compared to the Air) Build quality is the same, I would even say better cause of the faulty butterfly design. The only advantage the Air has is its trackpad and maybe the speakers. (and of course MacOS if you are totally into that eco system)

I’m surprised that you didn’t mention the keyboard mechanism. It retracts into the body so that you can’t feel the keys when you fold it back, something that most other yoga-style laptops don’t have.
Speaking of “yoga-style”, Lenovo was the first to come out with this type of hinge. It’s not my favourite, but damn does that retractable keyboard make it 100x better.

You forgot to use the screen in portrait mode.
Just to say, mine arrived last week and there is no wobble at all. The screen is incredibly firm! The build quality of the whole laptop is astonishing frankly - I've never had something so solid. I went for the WQHD version, if that makes a difference. Thought it might be the sweet spot between the 4k poor battery and the HD not quite sharp enough. Text on the WQHD version is gorgeous, although battery seems to be 6-7 hours max. Still, this is an incredible machine and no wobble on my model - highly recommended!
Liking the old lenovo thinkpad. I myself is rocking a T440 with 16gb ram and SSD+HDD combo. Got them all for less than 150 bux and I love it to pieces.
Still, I think people who wanted a Thinkpad need to also have a pretty powerful rig at home for more demanding tasks (like gaming or video editing), so unless you're not into gaming or video editing,having *ONLY* a thinkpad as your main computer is going to drive you crazy.

Lew Dog aka The Lew, thanks for highlighting the quality of these Lenovo laptops. I had always heard they were good, but I know that if a straight-shooter like you is all about it, it must be quality. When it comes to tech reviews, I don't think you'd ever give us anything but The Truth. So I say thanks because even though it's not X1 Carbon sexy, I took advantage of the sale Lenovo has running against Prime Day and ordered an X395 set up for road work. Ryzen 5, 16 GB Ram, 1080p regular screen, fingerprint reader, all the ports, all the goodness, for less than $900 USD on sale. I honestly would not have cross shopped Lenovo had it not been for this channel. Thanks again. Peace out.

I honestly thought its just a keyboard
Been a Yoga 720 user for a bit more than a year now. Honestly, the pen was a cool factor for me, the convertible aspect was the cool factor but when it comes to the usability, I do not think I have used those features to justify the amount I spent for a convertible. What I do think I can justify is the peace of mind that if somehow my screen goes flat on the table, the hinge would not break. Believe me when I say, I use my laptop on the bed to binge on Netflix and stuff and I move a lot resting it in weird angles and position. My last laptop did not last 2 years in the same way, the hinge part broke and next thing you know, the display part and the keyboard parts were two different pieces. If you are a rough user like me, I would recommend to go for a convertible. Believe me the extra cost is worth it.

One hand is doable by lifting up a bit higher and flicking down and then back up quickly so that bottom-weight inertia helps open its hinge.

I got the ThinkPad S1 yoga a many years ago and I have had it since and been happy. When this one dies I'll go with another ThinkPad yoga again

I love the aesthetic of Lenovo X1 in Carbon and Yoga and the keyboard, but quality control complaints scare me.

From watching your videos it seems the Carbon 4K has a brighter screen, (but the Yoga is pretty bright), is about 1/2 lb lighter and somewhat better keyboard. BUT, does make up for the fact that the Yoga can fold over and be used as a panel? I’d like to see you do a head-to-head video comparing a 7th gen (current) Carbon with 4K video, 16 gigs of ram and 512 SSD vs a similarly configured 4th gen (current) Yoga. Now everyone is different, but how much do you really fold it over, which is also important. i.e., is panel mode something you actually use enough, considering both are also touchscreens? So, that would be a follow up video after using the Yoga for some time. (Maybe a series of reports after a week, 2 weeks, a month).

Can you review the Lenovo Flex 14 as well? It's a much more affordable offering from Lenovo that has some lower specs and mimics some of the yoga's features, but I think overall a great laptop that is under the radar
