    Good video. I picked up this watch from my AD just four days before it was discontinued. I actually had it in my hands at a dealer last Summer but my wife was standing next to me. I had to pass because I had just purchased 6 other Rolexes over the prior 2 months and she was starting to give me the look. Glad to have been given a second opportunity, and to have actually pulled the trigger, just in time! Phewf!

    I like this. You wore the GMT on vacation, in everyday situations, that's as it should be. A little wear makes it better over time, means you've lived with the watch👍

      People that worry about wear on their Rolex are probably flippers in that they want to keep it at maximum value. Normal people that are not flippers simply will not care. The little marks on that watch cannot really be noticed and they can be cleaned out down the line again.

    I got this watch literally 2 hours ago. For months I was dead set on Batman, but videos like this changed my mind mere days before the actual purchase. I'm so glad I didn't go for Batman--the black bezel is more versatile, more mature, and I saved four grand.

    I have the exact issue with my sub in terms of the sticky crown. Meh, I’m just going to leave mine as it is... once my warranty is up, I’m going to get it serviced and have it dealt with then. Doesn’t bother me too much, especially as I hardly have to wind it since I’m always wearing it

    try pulling the crown out using two fingers at the same time, and their corresponding nails from completely opposite side of the crown, such as your thumb and ring finger. The creates a more linear pull without any angle offset while being pulled out. I experienced a similar issue, but now my subs crown releases without great effort.

    That issue with crown will come back after repair. The keyless works do thst when lubricants gets a little clumpy (from use). Had it happen to a couple new rolexes i had with the 3150, after a few years of very regular wear. Not a defect, just a known issue. The rolex lube on these parts are a special compound that contributes to this.

    • @valjean3141
      @valjean3141 5 лет назад +1

      This is good to know. I have owned a GMT master 2 for more than 10 years; been thru one regular service. Have experienced this on and off over the years - but never really struck me as an “issue,” until Bruce mentioned it. Usually if I pop the crown back in and out, it hacks just fine. Part of its personality, in a way. I also have a cat who sometimes growls if you pick her up while she’s sleeping. Go figure.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 5 лет назад

      Nothing sobering about it. Rolex make tough field watches. Some of their watches can have crowns that stick and and stiff. If you are messing around with it several times a day it at some point will wear and maybe break but for the average sensible user it is just going to last for a regular amount of time.

    I just bought a 116710 from 2012 that was serviced in 2020. It has the crown issue too. I thought it was related to the fact that the watch hasn’t been used since it was serviced. It is one of the watches I had plan on buying soon. With that being said I also stumbled across the Mido ocean star diver 600 which is chronometer certified as is the breitling superocean but has the ceramic bezel insert and a brushed stainless steel bracelet where as the superocean has the high polished bracelet. Thing is I'm actually more fond of the Mido than the breitling and the Mido is like half the price! A buddy of mine said I was crazy for favoring the Mido over the breitling. What are your thoughts on this? Just a side note my buddy owns a breitling himself so his views are more toward breitling lol....I still like the ocean star diver 600 better. Again great vid!🍻

    The crown issue is such a disappointment at that price level. This really sours me on Rolex.

      That is a natural crown movement for many Rolex watches. If you want silky smooth crown movements then you need to be aiming for a Patek or JLC but do not take them anywhere near water and wrap them in cotton wool.
      Rolex make screw down crown watches that are tough and rough.

    You can't have it replaced? It's such an expensive watch. Those things shouldn't happen in a luxury watch brand.

    For an expensive watch, with that flaw why would you still buy it when you can have a replica without any issue. LOL

    I take my original bracelets off now and stash them in the safe. Plenty of ok copy bracelets to beat up in their place. I have heard about that sticky crown on other GMTs. I always thought that Black GMT is beautiful. But that is bcuz I am a Sub guy. My daughters want my watches now. 😀 Even my wife wears a full size men's sport Explorer II.

    Nice video, including the macro which does show how far Rolex lags behind the others in terms of finish. The paint on the GMT hand just isn't good enough!

      Then you will need to pay a lot more such a Patek with a hand finish.

    A 40mm GMT for a 20 year old girl is overkill. Get her a lady datejust for her 21st

    Personally I couldn’t live with the crown issue even if they fix it. They are obviously having quality problems and this isn’t a isolated case. I wouldn’t want a Rolex now because of the stupid bubble thing and quality problems.

    You going to give it to your daughter with the sticky crown? Maybe you should give her something more reliable.... like a Seiko. Don’t give Rolex so many excuses :)
