Nice content Bruce. You said it perfectly at 1:42. These watches are intended to be worn, enjoy it and make memories with your close ones! Very nice comparison. I am lucky enough to own both the HULK, GMT master ii and the Sea Dweller (all black limited). I must say the HULK is my absolute favorite I just love GREEN. The all black Deep Sea is also a top choice for me because the dial is so much bigger. I rarely wear the GMT just because I find myself reaching for the HULK each time :).

I only recently discovered your channel Bruce and I must thank you for the wonderful content you create for us. I appreciate that you actually wear and use watches in their intended form and use them to help create those great memories of which you speak, this specifically resonates quite a bit for me. Looking forward to more videos!

To mix it up a little (and to avoid crazy premiums on the GMT Master II) , as owner of Sub myself, I'm looking to purchase an Explorer II Polar 42mm, which has GMT function but doesn't look so similar to the Sub.

I actually did just that...I chose the white dial Ex2 and a no date sub to have more differentiation. Glad I did that because a few months after getting the Ex2 my AD offered me the Batgirl and I took it. Love the variety with those 3 pieces - I don’t have a favorite, but feel like I wear the Ex2 more proudly for some reason

How do you compare your third Rolex, the Air King on the same parameters like these two? Would it possibly be the best among the three because it fits almost all situations apart from a suit and tie event? Under the radar, simple but interesting and whacky enough even though you don't love it as much?

I absolutely agree regarding Rolex as a brand! They make really great watches and my Submariner is still my most accurate mechanical watch I own. But they're still just (great) watches. You can argue a lot about the price but that's a different story which can be discussed for hours. In the end it's your OWN decision if you want to have a Rolex or not.
Great lume shots, Bruce! I absolutely agree on your comments regarding the lume comparison as well. Just compared it myself to the Panerai Luminor and my Tudor Pelagos and even it's not as bright from the beginning the longevity is what it makes stand out compared to the others!
    Thanks & best regards,

Great video Bruce👍🏼. I prefer the GMT if it had to be a everyday watch. My black Sub runs +2 a day and find my self always pulling the atomic clock up on my phone to check it. The 3235 in my TT SD43 runs +1 per day. I’ve yet to have a perfect running watch. Actually my Tudor BB bronze came closest at minus half second a day.

The hulk is my favourite, although I'd like to see it on a jubilee strap to compare the look . I wouldn't say they are everyday watches though unless your loaded. I have a question about the prices of the Rolex Submariner. I know it is somewhat hard to get the newest Rolex Submariner with ceramic bezel and that you have to wait several months to be able to buy one from an AD and that the demand is very high. The price of the submariner seems to almost double every 10 years or so. My question is, do you think there will ever be a ceiling to how high this model would go in price? I understand inflation and yes things get more expensive as years go by, but if this watch continues to appreciate in value like it has in the past, do you see it being priced at like 15-20k in 10-15 years? I am thinking of buying one, but it would take me about 3-4 years to save and by that point I’m wondering if it would be priced too far out of reach by that point, or if I should just buy one now, the no date model for about $8,000?

Absolutely, wear them, they're built for it. A Sub assures dive, but who's diving? The GMT allows swim, even dive to the bottom of yr pool, it shows you up to 3 timezones. Keep the GMT, look at IWC n Omega. Similar quality, different looks.

They are great watches - but the hype is difficult to divorce from the watches themselves. When I had my Rolex sports watches you could still walk into a shop and find them available without too much of a struggle. The market dynamics of finding and buying them now is actually alienating.
They used to be better looking without that nasty engraving on the rehaut too.

I'm in the market for a Sub, but slightly concerned about the comfort with regards to the thick case back.
I wear my watches quite snug, and concerned that the protruding caseback will put pressure on my wrist and make it uncomfortable to wear for long periods.
How do you find the comfort?
I know the GMT caseback is flatter, but I've always wanted the Sub

An explorer 1 is also a great watch and looks conservative as well so will go with a suit and is cheaper than the Submariner or Datejust but may be hard to source from what some people say.
Rubber straps are also comfortable more so than a bracelet and the Yachtmaster offers rubber band that does look dressy as well.

Knocks on the Sub are those fat lugs and that it is incredibly generic, though that is for good reason.
Personally, I prefer the GMT these days. More functionality, thinner, lighter, and a bit more unique. I rock a 16710 daily and pair it with a Z blue Milgauss. Wouldn’t want the Milgauss as an only watch. It’s the least comfortable of the 3 and also has the least functionality. By far the winner in the unique department though.

Good video Bruce! I own the BLNR on jubilee -- one thing I can say, as an owner since July 2019, the jubilee does not show any wear at all unlike PLCs on the oyster. So, if one likes the sparkle of the polished links AND wants no visible scuffs on the bracelet - get the jubilee. I also owned a ND SubC for two years and can attest to the fact that the brushed oyster does hide wear very well -- it's just not as shiny and attention grabbing. You think Rolex is just a good watch yet you have 3? Come on Bruce, you have become a Rolex fanboy and abandoned Seiko. You have gone from owning 3 Marinemasters, a Grand Seiko, SKX, the Willard reissue, and various turtles to just one Sumo? I know I have missed a few and I like your recent philosophy about less is more but just one Seiko? All this from a reviewer that publicly stated that Seiko is his favorite brand. Not anymore it isn't. And that's cool, people change. Just accept the obvious and embrace the Crown. :)

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  4 года назад

Galaga lol no... you can have a favorite brand and not own multiple. I love Ferrari and know a lot about the brand yet I don't own one. My ford is a good car but not my favorite. Seiko can be my favorite brand whether I own 12 or 0. I love Rolex as much now as I did when I didn't own one. Remember when Bruce Williams used to review affordable and attainable watches?
    Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Joking. I love both these watches, keep these reviews coming!

Adriano Nast I’d be very happy to own either of these. Geesh. I’ve always thought the Sub as the original and also one of the most copied watches which may lead it to feel unoriginal but not how I view it. Give credit to Rolex as a master marketing machine and maker of fine watches. Still waiting for my first one. 🤗

Wasnt unoriginal when Rolex originally came out them. Now they are so commonly copied they can seem unoriginal.
