Shirley ran a 4.97 in 1989 in NHRA, why did it happen only in 1997 in IHRA? Are their rules that different? I thought IHRA was able to run 97% nitro still.
That is correct. The track was closed for almost two years for the 18 million dollar renovation. During that time they announced they would switch to the NHRA.
