I saw the Banters other 7-engine tractor about 5 years before this. Never saw the 7-engine tractor where #7 was behind the driver. That sandy track messed up a lot of drivers who overpowered it. I was really impressed with Phil Patterson on the Sassy Massey. I don't think he revved the engines to redline. Maybe he picked a higher gear to limit the power available and hauled it out the end effortlessly.

My Grandpa pulled here from the very beginning, he was one of the true pioneers of the sport, after retiring the Cockshutt Super 570 fit with 4 turbochargers, he was a lead announcer for NTPA for many years... His name was Lloyd Douglas, or.. Super Cecil Diesel... I was so lucky to get to go to ALL of the top pulls every summer... Every one of these pullers if asked if they remember Lloyd Douglas's grandson Derek always playing in the pits, would absolutely remember... and I remember them.. You posted another video of Tomah this same year, that is my Grandpa, my hero, announcing that pull, even catch a glimpse of him awarding Dave Banter... He Might of been announcing this one as well, I couldnt hear... anyways, NEVER... thought I would ever hear his voice again... THANK YOU!!!

Great post. Those trucks were definitely more interesting outdoors; some indoor tracks were too short, they need plenty of space.

I have never been to one of those types of tractors and trucks pulling. I went to some grand national tractor pulling and trucks these were in Illinois

This would be really enjoyable to watch if it didn’t have all the commentary in between each one of the polls. You could just watch the competition, the videographer or the announcer would say who the leader was as far as distance pulled, and you wouldn’t have to listen to thisguy talk through the whole show!

The Gravedigger with the gold wheels was my favorite. I have a picture of it at Stafford Speedway somewhere. Must have been the first race my father and I went to. We also snuck in the pits and I got a picture with Bigfoot. Haha. Before that kind of thing was allowed.

if I could travel back in time, I would definitely go to this race. My all-time dream when I was a kid was to see the trucks flying down that drop. it was just so cool.

Fun track to race, long and fast. However the lanes were uneven. Great post.
