"..We are young despite the years,
We are concerned,
We are hope despite the times..."
Lyrics that are still relevant today.
This is a favorite of mine.
I grew up on old REM, from Chronic Town to Green. To me, those are the golden years.
REM was one of Thom Yorke's favorite bands. Their 80s stuff had a bite to it that is still intoxicating to me.
I can hear "Fall on Me" beginning now after hearing this song.
I loved life's Rich Pageant.
Murmur and Reckoning, both examples of REM'S mind blowing early stuff!
Seen them live, great band so many great songs
The more R.E.M the better - never to late to discover this band mate! Funny that you’re wearing a Pearl Jam Tee - Eddie Vedder inducted them into the Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame! The lead singer is Michael Stipe, a true iconic frontman!🔥👏🏻
Screaming trees. The inventor of Seattle grunge
Saw them live in 1989 on the Green world tour - one of my favourite gigs ever, and this was a stand-out track
I used to have a vhs tape as a teenager called REM Succumbs. It was amazing! It was a collection of early videos. Radio Free Europe, the entirety of “Left of Reckoning” Super influential on me as a kid
Left Of Reckoning is awesome!
This album is definitely one of their hardest rocking records.
Saw them back in early 2000's, one of my fave bands, you going love them Rory.
They were revolutionary... keep going down that rabbit hole... some more rocky tunes... orange crush, the one i love, driver 8
I'll keep those REM tracks coming my friend.
You will love REM. And Michael Stipe's lyrics. You will have a hard time understanding them as he's singing. 😄 Epic mumbler. Distinctive voice, edgy, full of passion, devoid of diction 😄
Michael Stipe comes from an arts school background so his rather oblique lyrics represent that.
I highly recommend "I Believe", off of the same album. Actually, that album is all good.
AWESOME R.E.M. !! 🔥🔥🔥 YOU KNOW THAT EDDIE VEDDER INDUCTED REM TO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. EDDIE SINGS " MAN ON THE MOON" WITH MICHAEL STRIPE. EDDIE VEDDER MAKES SONG SOUND A LITTLE BETTER! AWESOME REACTION RORY 💙 AND I LOVE YOUR SHIRT!! AND THANK YOU DORFIN FOR THIS AWESOME REQUEST!! 😊 💓 🔥🤘✌️MICHAEL STRIPE LOVES ELVIS PRESLEY!!
saw them live in 88 right before Green was released
Driver 8, Orange Crush
When you do my reaction I sent you for "Feeling Gravity's Pull" you will be able to hear Stipe's lyrics better.
Recorded at John mellencamp studios in Bloomington, Indiana. Summer 1986. Indiana University is here. That summer my brother and I ran into them at a couple of parties. They were surprised we knew who they were. Nobody knew who they were. Just standing by The keg at a house party.
Have you listened to the inventors of grunge? Screaming trees? Recording back into the late seventies.
