This is more like what we expected when sailing the Southern ocean to New Zealand. The first part had very little wind but as we headed more South, we got hit by the systems rolling in from the West. Watch this for some epic ocean sailing !

Love the duct tape fix. Very dangerous on deck, glad you persuaded the boy not to go out there. He looks better in the cockpit safe. Glad you are having a relatively nice passage and can sleep. Stay up and sail safely. 😊❤😊

Great videography and content mix. The water sampling survey is interesting. I guess you covered this a long while ago, but why does your Amel(?) have such big, solid aluminium stays on the main mast coming out at head level to the cap shrouds and diagnols down to the deck?

I was wondering that too. My guess is that they have 2 poles and maybe one is Whisker pole and one Spin pole and that is their way of storing them when not in use. The advantage of doing so give them something to hold onto when going forward.

Those two poles are the whisker poles which the main poles attach to

Yea the whisker poles , to be honest I am not sure why they have that actual set up but we use the poles a lot for our Genoa when the wind is light mainly

Glad you enjoy it , Amels are interesting boats and some things still leave us wondering 🤔

Hello John , thanks goodness for duct tape . I have been meaning to tell you that I am so far behind with the videos , but always trying to catch up . We are now in Indonesia but I refuse to miss out the story from NZ because we had such an incredible time , it was some of our favourite places for the people and the countryside . If you don’t mind the videos being so far behind real time then I hope you will keep watching and enjoying all the videos we have coming up .
