- No witness testimony is set this week in Young Thug’s Atlanta criminal trial, but that doesn’t mean the rapper himself won’t be spending the week in court.
That’s because Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, prosecutors and attorneys are holding a series of motions hearings this week.
The jury break had been scheduled by the trial’s previous judge, Fulton County Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Glanville, and Whitaker is abiding by that break in witness testimony.
Motions hearings will be held Monday and Tuesday beginning at noon, while court will be in session beginning at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
On Friday, lawyers for Deamonte Kendrick (aka Yak Gotti) filed a motion urging Whitaker to limit the time Fulton County prosecutors currently have to finish their case.
“As this Court has broad discretion to exercise reasonable control over the presentation of witnesses and evidence, the Court should use that discretion to prevent this trial from stretching indefinitely and beyond the reaches of time due to the State’s unpreparedness and inefficiency, and presentation of cumulative evidence causing undue delay, poor decision making by the jury, as well as harm to Kendrick” and the remaining defendants, the motion said.
“The Court should put a reasonable time limit, or clock, on the remainder of the State’s case,” it said.
Jeffery Lamar Williams - aka Young Thug - marked his 33rd birthday on Friday after being arrested on May 9, 2022, along with 27 other suspected gang members in Buckhead as part of a 56-count indictment. The trial’s jury selection lasted longer than any other in Georgia history, and actual witness testimony itself will likely surpass state records. Both records were set by the Atlanta Public Schools teacher scandal and trial of 2014-15.

You explain what's happening in easy to understand language. I greatly enjoyed this stream! This judge is so biased. Like you said, she's really babying the State. Love and Hylton don't even need to pay attention and get rulings their way.
When Judge W has an chance at an appointment this unlawfulness, unethical judgements are ending her career for further advancement. 3 Judges all bias and unethical. When is this case dismissed because of not a chance in heck YSL Band is getting a fair trial.
