This is a real treat to see. Something odd about Dio. If you watch as he's singing..you never see any sort of strain..even in his higher range. There's notes I can hit that are in my range but Ive gotta stand on my tiptoes and hold my nuts. His voice and how it works for him is an anomaly.

He wasn't born with it completely. He didn't sound like that in the 60's. He must have practiced alot, especially on the distortion part. Increadible voice.

I got to hang with Ronnie during this time at this studio. I loaned his guitarist some of my outboard processing gear for this album. He got me an audition with another famous artist.

Yes. Between Two Hearts is a masterpiece. It seems that Dio never played it live, since no live video of it exists.

Because the labels wanted Dio to reunite with Black Sabbath. It was all just a series of unfortunate circumstances.

Thanks for uploading this! I saw DIO twice live. Ill have to upload my video recording of that from the 2007 Heaven and Hell tour in ABQ new mexico in 2007. I had a sweet camera and I was the ONLY one recording it in the entire audience. Since phones did not have cameras worth a damn back then

I remember when this album came out and me and a friend of mine saw the lock up the wolves show at the painters Mill in Maryland before it burned down. I remember that the guitar player was just 18 years old. Years later Ronnie came to Virginia and played at the old club Jax in Springfield Virginia. I found out from a friend of mine that she had scored some herb for Ronnie, she said that Ronnie was looking to buy some kind bud and that she found out that he loved really good marijuana. It doesn't surprise me, Ronnie was so cool and I really do hope he enjoyed that good bud that she scored for him!
I am glad to say, I have lived in the age when Ronnie James Dio was amongst us!

It was allways told, that Ronnie's operatic voice got shaped during his childhood , when listening to the Tenor Mario Lanza.
So I once saw a clip showing Mario Lanza in an old live TV Show doing pretty much the same gag as Ronnie does in the beginning of this clip. Mario Lanza did it with wine instead.
I cannot find that Mario Lanza footage, sorry, but I have seen it somewhere on YT. So if you find it, whould you please post the link.

Thanks so much for posting this! This album brought back that old Rainbow and Sabbath Ronnie in alot of ways, with more of that special mix of bluesy rock and Dio majic. Great players all. The interviewer looked a bit foppish though, when saying to Rowan the american dream thing, uh, rock and roll is a universal dream man!! In fact, I look with a jealous eye upon the relationship between Great Britain and Ireland and the electric guitar.
