Opportuner Kalewa yeah! Since the people in the tribe wash their hair with rice water *everyday* then I'll do it everyday! My hair grows like an inch a year I'm not gonna do it once a week, EVERYDAY!
GTPrincess123 exactly they don't call it mother nature for nothing sheesh wasting all this good food and natural techniques and sitting right in the kitchen 😂😂😂😂
I've been doing this for 3 weeks because my hair was shedding. Already the shedding has decreased significantly! I let the rice water ferment (spoil) for 2-3 days and it doesn't smell rotten. I add lavender and orange essential oils and use it as a rise after I shampoo. I place the rice water in a large bowl and use a plastic cup to just dump it over my hair. I let it sit for about 10 minutes then rinse and follow with a deep conditioner using steam. My hair comes out so soft and is super easy to detangle💁🏽
I do mine a little differently than what was shown in the video. I use the same technique to make the rice water except after the fermentation I keep it in the fridge so it is cold when I use it. I use it as a final rinse after deep conditioning then style as usual. It has worked wonders for me!! I have noticed way less shedding, and way more shine!
Agreed!. Growing long natural hair is not easy and can be so confusing for newly natural. GROW YOUR HAIR is an app on google play to help newly naturals. Its very helpful
I'm definitely gonna try this! I suggest putting the rice water in a spray/spritz bottle to make it easier to apply edit: I legit made this comment right before you mentioned the spray bottle lmao
Bethany Derby that's the beauty of RUclips, specially this channel now. She try it, it works, we try it!! 💡 btw! The overnight eggs and oil treatment is awesome. If you watch the video I tell you, I tried it the same night after she posted and had a FRESH color so I can tell it really worked 😄
Luna Azul Yes her channel is amazing! I saw that video, but I didn't try it. But now I will try it, I hope it works for me too. Do you use it regularly? And will you be trying this one?
Bethany Derby I only did it once, the same night she posted the video. I forgot to do a length check before, but I had a new hair color from just days before and my roots grew about one inch, I noticed the next night and was shocked because my color took lighter on my roots and I hated it lol so the change was obvious. I will try it again tomorrow night. I don't think we should do it more than once a month because it could give us protein overload, unless you are relax, I don't think you should do it more than that. I will be trying the rice water. Can you believe I never thought of using it for my hair, but I have used it for my face. It helps to clear acne, my mom pass that little secret to me. I will be letting you know on Monday if it worked again. Try it, it will work. Don't forget to massage your scalp.
Luna Azul Thank you very much. If it works for me I will add it to my regimen and do it a once a month, even though the bathroom will smell bad lol. I can understand that you didn't use the ricewater on your hair if you didn't see anyone else doing it. I hope it works for you. Thank you again and yeah I will massage my scalp!
Luna Azul quick question I'm relax how offend should I try this new method?and should i shampoo my hair with the rice water then rinse and then condition
Do not boil it. If you do you boil out the nutrients and you are basically using plain water. Put it in the fridge to stop fermentation add a cup of warm water and wash hair.
Please remember ladies, though this technique is amazing...rice grown in the U.S. (Especially from the south) are high in arsenic. That's why many people wash rice prior to cooking so if your rice is coming from another country it might be safer.
Sprightly Aurora wow. I just went to read up on this after reading your comment. Appearantly rice grown in Texas has the highest levels and basmati from California has the lowest levels as well as rice grown in other countries like India. I didn't even think about this.
Thank you, I never knew that! Also be cautious when buying rice from China. There's a sort of epidemic of people selling fake rice made of plastic and other nasty things.
I've tried the rice water. However I do put mine in a spray bottle and I added a few oils to mine. Mine is a NO rinse rice water oil. It worked wonders on my hair. I added 2 drops of each of these oils. BLACK CASTOR OIL, COCONUT OIL, ARGON OIL, TEA TREE OIL, PEPPERMINT OIL, ROSEMARY OIL. My hair grew a little over 4 inches in a month in a half. I will not use anything else. I've finally found something that my hair likes. Blessings to all.
I've got an amazing technique for easy application of the rice water. Been dabbling with the stuff since last Spring, and it works wonders. May post a video sometime soon of how to accomplish easier application-- because from my experience, using your hands to manually apply to water takes forever. Especially if your hair is thick. Thank you for being one of the far few sharing this technique in a video! 😁
I has read this article as well and tried the technique. I agree that my hair was super soft. I believe the technique will several tries to see results in growth .

Yes! Strinkage is no joke and my hair always get tangled easily when I wear it naturally curly! But yes I can't wait until it's super long curly! I always want to cut my hair but then I think about that!
This is super weird because I read an article in the paper today about how many vitamins and minerals are in rice water and that it's a good treatment for diarrhea. Now I'm coming across this! Wow!
Love this technique, I haven't seen any growth but when I straighten my hair I only need to use one pass with the flat iron and it has so much body and bounce to my hair. I also have terrible acne scars and use the rice water as a little mask and then rinse it off.
Hi, love this video and your hair is so pretty. However I read in several articles that you shouldn't reboil the water after fermentation because it kills the nutrients that make rice water work. Also, some people use the water after soaking as treatment and not boiling it at all. Thoughts?
kinda cool. been using this technique for some time now. my hair is already very long. but I wanted to incorporate this with what I ready do for added strength. hair is getting thicker and stronger. let us know how it works for you in your update video
I think cooking the rice till it's fully cooked is better than just boiling it. also a girl on instagram talked about how rice water makes the hair less frizzy and shiny. but not cooking the rice, just soak it over night and spray it into hair after a shower.
strength and length for hair is genetics. Theirs a reason why Asians and Indians have long thick hair and your average white women doesn't. BUT I recommend anyone trying to grown better hair to eat, sleep and drink enough water. Most people have the ability to grow great hair but have a super toxic environment of eating poorly and not drinking water to detoxify. Take care of yourself and you'll see results.
I'm a bit confuse your hair is already wet prior to adding the rice water is that the proper way you're suggesting that we do? And how offen should we do this to start seen results?
Nina Alfred hi did you find out how many times you do this,,,I have very thin hair it falls out alot I've had a lot of radiation due to testing I need something to grow my hair thank you for taking the time to read this
I'm glad you mentioned the spray bottle, while you were putting it on your head with your fingertips and 'scooping', I was saying to myself "Girl, if you don't go get a spray bottle.." LOL. I love this idea, makes sense. I love your videos because we have similar textures and amount of hair, so the info is spot on. Thank you Maryam!
Jamaica Streater Boiling the rice actually extracts more nutrients into your water. Then let it ferment for 1 week or more. ( the more fermented the better). However do not boil after fermentation. Tip: while fermenting add orange peels to lessen the smell.

+Maryam Hampton Nice videos. I was just wondering if this hair growth treatment works for everyone. As we all know not everyone can grow long hair due to genetics, I didn't even know that until a few months ago but I still believe if people take care of their hair that people can have long healthy hair. What do you think?
your hair is so pretty. i think our natural textures are alike, but i am unsure and have not made it full natural!! i think my pattern looks wavy .does your roots ever get really tangled or hard to comb if you wait long to wash?
Tasha Gregory sounds like you defensive and don't know what you are doing if you really think that is the only way hair will grow. never asked you anything cuz obviously if i did you couldn't answer
also a much better way to utilize or conserve shampoo or this mixture is to use is a cheap applicator bottle to get a better usage so you don't overuse the good stuff or to thoroughly get it on your hair😉
Yeah, i think the reason their hair is so long is because of low manipulation, like u mentioned, not cutting their hair but once in their lives, and not using man-made shampoos and conditioners. Not necessarily the rice water. I'm pretty sure all of us could do that, and especially those with straight hair, and get the same results without the rice water.
i agree. I used to have dreads for 18 years. my hair was down to my legs. this was due to very low manipulation and no shampoo or conditioner but only natural products from the earth such as hibiscus flowers, aloe vera and cactus. I had very healthy and thick hair.
Great video😉 Have u ever tried egg shell water? It's the water left over after u boil eggs, after shampooing or clensing your hair; leave it in your hair 5-30 min., and rinse. Then put in your conditioner/hollow your regular hair routine. It makes your hair stronger and is a good heat protector.
Hi! I love your videos and your hair is super gorgeous. FYI, i use rice water as a daily spray leave in. I do not rinse it out after each use. I love it.
My God! Every time I watch one of your videos your hair is so much longer! Love the African hair cutting ritual. Anyway, I've heard about this rice water for hair and I'm going to definitely try it. I eat organic brown rice quite often so I have to try this. So you don't cook the rice, right? Just boil and then ferment over night? Thank you, you are absolutely lovely and such an inspiration!
i might try this but use a spray bottle to maximize time and the rice water usage and to make sure i get it to the scalp and coverage of all my hair. thx for sharing this video
I am definitely going to try. a possible suggestion to getting the rice water to your scalp would be to possibly pour the water into a spray bottle and use it that way. Just a thought.
SnappingTurtle801 i did, and my hair actually felt really nice and soft afterwards, im definitely going to use it again, can't wait to see the actual results!!
I have been using this technique for about a month and I havent seen any major hair growth yet But I have noticed my ends have stop breaking as much, my hair is much much softer and when I straighten my hair and curl it, the curls have been able to last me almost 2 weeks compared to a week at most before. My hair hasnt been as dry either. So far for me I have definitely seen positive changes in my hair. And I used regular rice in the blue and white box. The only thing I did different is add a few drops of Tea tree oil in the rice water. So I think this will be my new preferred method of cleansing my hair.
Until now I've used it only two times because i don't want to use it daily. I can a small different, my hair is softer but it didn't grow yet, but remember i only used it twice, i will love making this a part from my daily routine!!!!
my desperate ass would dump my head in the rice water

We use to do this in D.r for skin and hair people let the rice sit over night though. I think boiling it may kill its properties. Works great.
Mare McGee Yeah.. I don't think they would boil it I think they just would let it absorb.. that way the water will get all the properties
Mare McGee so instead of boiling the rice and water you just let the rice soak in the water and then continue the steps?
Mare McGee i don't boiled the rice i only make it overnight with water...and it looks great...my damage hair feels good now..
Just skip the boiling part
You still wash the rice then let it sit overnight?
Don't worry, Maryam! (You will follow your own advice soon.) You are on your way to INCREDIBLY lengthy hair! Sooo beautiful , your hair is super pretty !
also a much better way to utilize or conserve shampoo or this mixture is to use is a cheap applicator bottle to get a better usage so you don't overuse the good stuff or to thoroughly get it on your hair😉
Do you suggest using shampoo with it or shampooing before, then using the rice water to rinse and rinse again with regular water?
can't wait to try this sounds interesting , i've been trying to grow my hair forever now . my hair is just passed my shoulders
So what's the results
Nice video how often should you do this rice water to get the results of your hair is getting long
Yeah, i think the reason their hair is so long is because of low manipulation, like u mentioned, not cutting their hair but once in their lives, and not using man-made shampoos and conditioners.
Skalyon2 lol dreads are long because you're twisting/keeping your shed hair instead of getting rid if it like everyone else.
Feonalilly That is true as well lol
+Skalyon2 my husband and I just started our dreads this summer do you have a regiment?
byoung4eva1 saw this person with many different vedio with different methods, can't believe all her vedio if it's true or not?
Your hair looks really full and elongated, in this video...How did you make it, look this way...?
How often should I wash my hair with rice water?
Lavish Assistant i was told that it's good to wash no more than once a week
Do you use the rice water to cleanse your hair or do you use it for the protein?
Great video😉 Have u ever tried egg shell water? It's the water left over after u boil eggs, after shampooing or clensing your hair; leave it in your hair 5-30 min., and rinse. Then put in your conditioner/hollow your regular hair routine. It makes your hair stronger and is a good heat protector.
cherrydhee interesting
How often do you put egg shell water in your hair and how many eggs do you boil?
Is this a joke to see if we will put ANYTHING in our hair?😂
Thank you, you are absolutely lovely and such an inspiration!
how long do you think this technique or process suppose to take until you begin to notice hair grow
who else thought she looked 7798564432323 times prettier without makeup
Hi, along with the rice water regiment, what else do you do? You didn't mention the cleanliness of your hair. Do you shampoo, before? Thank you
Do you have to use the rice water everyday ??
Amina Haji No, but you can.
Once weekly/fortnightly is usually recommended
i might try this but use a spray bottle to maximize time and the rice water usage and to make sure i get it to the scalp and coverage of all my hair. thx for sharing this video
is it clarifying?
It's amazing..!
Do you use shampoo?
Rice water is really good for your skin :) I do it every time I make rice!
do you use just regular white rice?
Mimi Brad yes I do :) and normally I just do a cold face wash. No need to boil the water and it's one use only
oh okay, thank youu!
how long do you leave the rice in the water? do you rinse it off your face? Do you use it on your hair as well?
Bunny Rawr do you see ghosts
I am definitely going to try. a possible suggestion to getting the rice water to your scalp would be to possibly pour the water into a spray bottle and use it that way. Just a thought.
so do you condition afterward?
Your hair is beautiful. I'm trying this. God bless you.
This sounds so easy, definitely need to try. I LOVE DIY all natural products :)
What was the difference in your using the rice water when you styled your hair, was it detangled, softer, etc?
You look like Aaliyah...Beautiful! SUBSCRIBED!!!

.......But ur hair already long though!
should i use shampoo and conditioner or just wash it out , and does your hair have to be clean before the process ??
I'm a new subbie..Love your hair!!!
Thank you!!
how many time can we keep the rice water in the fridge? great video btw😊
Has anyone tried this and it worked?
SnappingTurtle801 i did, and my hair actually felt really nice and soft afterwards, im definitely going to use it again, can't wait to see the actual results!!
hadar styles how long have you used it?
I can a small different, my hair is softer but it didn't grow yet, but remember i only used it twice, i will love making this a part from my daily routine!!!!
thanks for the responses. maybe I'll give it a try. if it doesn't promote growth hopefully it will help with the dryness.
can i use it on my beard for grow faster to?
er..um..i guess?
Nobel Pipe hhhhhhhh dude thank you. u just made my night
I love doing it
