    Dr Bri - I absolutely love you and am so grateful for all that you do to help us with uterine prolapse! But 2 things: i was a professional Egyptian cabaret belly dancer - trained by the woman who first brought proper technique and training to North America. My pelvic floor muscles were so strong that I would push my menstrual cup out while doing undulations. Proper belly dance technique can make pelvic floor muscles hypersonic. 2: i love you, love you, love you, love you, but... whoever you learned from didn't know proper technique 😔 I'm sorry, I hate to give negative feedback to someone who so lovingly does so much to help...

      Can you give suggestions how this should be properly done? I want to know before I go straight in doing this routine. Thanks in advance!

    • @wadawas
      @wadawas Год назад +3

      @@celaizen3338 move #1: heel is *flat on the floor*, knees are slightly bent. Bri is correct in that the hip movement comes from the knee straightening, but the knee is straightening because you're going to push down into your heel. The focus should be straight up, not with a lateral slide (closing the car door). Of course it can be done with a lateral hip slide, but that is now combining 2 different isolations (hip lift through the heel + lateral hip slide using your obliques). Hip Circle: head & shoulder should not be moving right or left. They will move forward & back, but when looking in the mirror, it shouldn't look like they are moving at all. Hip circle issue 2: the hips are supposed to stay level. In order for that to happen, when you move your hip to the left, the left knee bends just enough to keep the hips level. Knees straighten when your butt is back, then the right knee bends as you bring your hip to the right. Same with the figure 8's: the hips should be level -so the knee need to bend with the lateral hip slide. Hope this helped!

      Sorry are you saying belly dancing is not good for the pelvic floor or just the technique Dr Bri is demonstrating? I’m just a little confused because you say you learned proper technique but still have hypertonic pelvic floor. Thank you I’m just trying to understand so the same doesn’t happen to me but I have loved what belly dancing I’ve done so far so I’d like to keep it up if possible in the most healthy way!

    Dear Dr. Bri you are wonderful, thank you for your videos! In addition, just my two cents: when we do belly dance the top of our head stays still, not moving up and down (disco moves), not tilt, just stays so that we can carry a book on top of our head, that won't fall while we dance.

      you'll have to experiment and see what works for you! It definitely activates the pelvic floor muscles, but it also stretches and releases them due to the full mobility/range of motion you experience during these fluid, flowing movements. Try the workout, do one of my pelvic floor release videos after the workout, and see how you feel :)

    Dr Bri I have pain that feels like a knife sticking in my right pelvic area between my inner hip and pubic bone. I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago. The pain has become intolerable and wakes me up at night. It also goes down the front of my rt thigh & around around to my butt. Pelvic ultrasound and hip x ray basically negative. Does this sound like pelvic floor issue to you? Stretches and breathing are not helping much so far. Thank you.

    • @vibrantpelvichealth

      While I can't make any guarantees, I can tell you that I've worked with several women with long histories of sciatica who've experienced relief from daily hip circles. Start slow and gentle, and work your way up to longer sessions. Before doing this workout, you might just want to try a few hip circles in each direction and see how it feels for you. This is a super old video but it explains more about hip circles and how they can help: ruclips.net/video/ffLEtsuypFg/видео.htmlsi=Pd_DcHcsp7BymMWJ

    This is such a silly question but are you engaging your core or pelvic floor while doing these dances or do you let everything loose ? Thanks

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  2 года назад +3

      Not a silly question! Your core will NATURALLY activate when needed throughout this workout. Please don't ever feel like you're squeezing or "clenching" your pelvic floor/core during this routine... you want to feel like your muscles are active, but also super supple and responsive! If you have a history of pelvic floor hypertonicity (too much tightness), then please pause the video halfway through and intentionally relax/release your pelvic floor and core muscles.

      This might sound silly, but topical magnesium creams are so incredible for relaxing tight muscles. So maybe before or after doing all this wonderful dancing (so fun, thank you!), applying some cream to the lower abdomen would help relax things, too.
