This show should've had longer than it did.. and no Tony nominations. I don't really know how nominations work (at least specific requirements) but I would've loved to see it nominated for something, despite it flaws, it was a beautiful show with amazing performers and music.

Because as he said this is as pertinent today as it was then...politically promoted racism. It was as good as Hamilton but not as popular a theme.

LOVED this show. Too bad there’s very little support for Asian musicals and actors on Broadway. If not for the British-mounted, American-themed Miss Saigon, producers and theater-goers would continue ignoring Asians on Broadway. Sad.

Compare Lea and the Young guy when they talk...
Lea when she talks is so calm, very articulate and just good to listen to but the young guy is like in a hurry always, he is articulate but very irritating to listen to....idk just my opinion

Lea has been performing since before Telly (the young guy) was born. And she has been doing interviews for almost as long as Telly has been alive! Not surprising that she is totally at ease during interviews.

I like the meaning of Gaman, rising above one's crisis with dignity. Your theme is uplifting but please refrain from making political speeches. You are blessed that you were just held in camps, fed and had time to boogie. War is always ugly. However, it is always the duty of the leaders to protect their citizens from inside and outside. Immigrants inevitably are affected until the fog of war subsides and the picture becomes clearer. Remember that Japan unprovokely waged war on US, Australia, Singapore, Indonesian, China, Philippines, Malaysia, Korea and IndoChina. Japan killed tens of thousands of people, tortured children, young men, fathers and even grandfathers. They kidnapped innocent asian girls to become sex slaves for their soldiers. These comfort women asked for an apology for their ruined lives and got a timid apology only after 6 decades from the Japanese gov't. Your political speeches are so insensitive to the war victims as you drown their devastating losses and tortured lives subservient to yours. life moves on, i have a lot of japanese friends and yes, i will see your play. But please, do not go into the politics of war, it just foments ugly memories.

By the way Telly, you seem like a very intelligent young man, i have a small advise, why don't you research on the history of World War II and the life of Mohammed, to give depth to your opinions. As Winston Churchill and George Santaya said, "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to commit the same mistake".

+jpgreen What happened to American citizens of Japanese descent was political and you want him to refrain from making political speeches? "You are blessed that you were just held in camps...." How extremely insensitive of you. They weren't just held in camps. They sold their land, businesses, and homes for pennies on the dollar. Families were split up. American citizens were treated less than second-class citizens. For you to bring up the atrocities of Japan, the country and its government and military, and somehow think it pertains to American citizens, who happened to be Japanese, is disgustingly sad. You said, "...it is always the duty of the leaders to protect their citizens from inside and outside." George is a third-generation Japanese. His parents were born in the United States. Their parents were born in the United States. They, too, are citizens.Telling the truth, telling the story, has nothing to do with politics of war. Yes, interring American citizens in camps with barbed wire fences and armed guards, is ugly. For the survivors, it's an ugly memory. One we should never forget, unless you want to repeat the same mistakes in the future. (Think Donald Trump and his condemnation of Muslims)

There was a war and until it cleared out, the face of your attacker has to be contained. It is the head of state's duty is to protect its citizens from threats. When the fog of war subsided, they were released. Sure, they suffered, but not as much as the seven countries brutally attacked by Japan. How would you like your babies tossed in air and skewered like barbeques by their bayonets? How would you like your young sisters and daughters kidnapped and made into comfort women for their soldiers? How would you like your brothers, fathers and grandfathers lined up to be shot? How would you like your city relentlessly bombed by their jets? We all don't want wars to happen because it's ugly and no one wins. Our fathers and grandfathers gave their lives so we may live. Do not bellitle their sacrifices. But as Churchill said, "those who don't learn from history are doomed to commit the same mistakes". People just see the NOW and are too lazy to study history. I am hardly a bigot, but history is again repeating itself and the uninformed don't see what's coming until it's too late. It's truly sad. To understand the Muslims, you have to study the life of Mohammed, the founder of Islam and how they

Your problem is you fail to recognize that we are talking about American citizens and what Japan did, had nothing to do with these American citizens. You need to stop comparing American citizens of Japanese descent to other country's soldiers, and other country's atrocities. It's insulting and for you to link these Americans to barbaric acts that have nothing to do with them, is truly the sad part. I love how you lack any compassion, "Sure, they suffered, but...." There are no buts. These are American citizens. This is their story. And you had the gall to come on here and make a comment about not making it political.

It is very glaring that there are no internment camps made for german-americans, or italian-americans.
