Your intro about never using the point file in hit home, I remember in my first few months using TD learning about this operator, but I still have not used it in a single project. Thanks for another A* 10 out of 10 tutorial.
anyone have this issue: when I create a geo comp attached to the rectangle, it shows as a donut. Despite being connected to the rectangle, I can't get it to display the rectangle
hey noones, thanks for the simple tutorial! however i run into the same problem over and over again. when i load in my .ply file and view it as points, all i get is black screen with no content. Do you know what i do wrong? I'd really appreciate some help. cheers
Whoa, that's unusual. Maybe, something is wrong with your ply file. When you add a point file in top, there should be a default sphere loaded, try to view it as points. Also, try to import the same .ply back to blender to see if you file valid. But even if your file is empty you should be able to see the grid, not just black screen.
@@noonesimg damn, the file should be ok i doubled checked it, i even downloaded other examples of plys , yet it sill doesn't work. i even have the latest version. bummer, because i need it for a vr projection in uni. nevertheless thank you so much for the reply
That's weird man! Can you do the "view as points" without loading an external file? I mean, if you add a point file in TOP, there should be a default sphere loaded. maybe try to post this problem with screenshots and example .toe on the forum.derivative.ca/ , there's a Bugs section. Maybe someone from derivative team will be able to help
@@noonesimg no unfortunatley not, just an empty space. i came to the conclusion that it might have to do with my ryzen graphicscard which doenst have the cuda programming language. had some problems before with the likes of reality capture and similar because of that. i guess nvidia is the way to go..
@@Mo-dy9ml Can you do a screen record of your exact process? that might help us see an issue. For a start I just used basic Blender cube, monkeyHead & sphere w/no subdivide; just to see the process work. Now I'm going to grab my Kinect.
hi young ian hubert TD, first i want to thank you all your tutorials, amazing all. Seconds i want to ask if you can make a video for import 3d objects from blender with the textures to td , cheers !
@@noonesimg I literally am playing it at 0.25 pct speed and still pausing to listen, learn, experiment, etc. For me personally this is one of the funnest tuts I've seen in a long time because TD doesn't require the models to have the exact SAME number of points.
You showcase great techniques and never fail to amaze. I actually do like the quick pace, it's more about getting inspired than anything else really.
i'm not sure if i love or hate these freaking fast TD tutorials
Agreed. like, smooth flow would be nice
Hate them, we all do
I had to turn down the speed of the video 😂
I love-hate them♥
love your videos man, always straight to the point. keep it up dude!
AMAZING!!!! SOOOOOO COOOOOOOL - thank you for this tip, and for being specific & straight to the point.

Man, Great tutorial. can you tell me how can I animate position;scale;Rotatio of a point in?
Great stuff here. Can you morph pictures too?
The tutorial is so good. I have a question. If the 3d model has a material, how can I apply it to the point cloud?
THIS IS PURE GENIOUS
This is gold, thank you!

Thank you! And thanks for supporting what I do here :)

i can't view .ply files on my touchdesginer 2022 version
anyone have this issue: when I create a geo comp attached to the rectangle, it shows as a donut. Despite being connected to the rectangle, I can't get it to display the rectangle
I was using a TOP rectangle instead of an SOP rectangle
do you have a video with this sort of effect but with the kinect v2?
Nice!could you tell me how to perfectly paste the color on the picture to the instances?
love this turtual ,thank you!!
Great tutorial! Is there a way to use sops as point cloud input?
Thanks! You can go with SOP to CHOP and then do the CHOP to TOP that will give you sorta the same result.
@@noonesimg For anyone else trying it this way, make sure to change your Data Format to RGB on the ChopTo
How export file from cinema 4d in format Stanford (.ply) ?
Please help🙏
mine isnt working... I cant connect recctangle with geo
Only thought of the .ply files for capturing point clouds with Lidar. Cool effect! Could you just import the mesh or use SOPs to get same effect?
For sure! you can convert to CHOP and then to TOP, although, depending on your vertex count, you can experience a significant fps drop
that's great dude! thank you

Thank you. 감사합니다.
Awesome, thank you! Is there a way to scale these point files once they’re in TD? I’ve tried using a transform top but that does nothing.
Sure, just use the Point Transform TOP, it works pretty much the same way as the Transform SOP
@@noonesimg Oh, could’ve thought of that myself haha. Thanks!
Cool thanks!
I've been watching this at like x0.25
amazing
Thank god youtube has a 0.25 speed ;-)
