    Hi, and Welcome to the shop! This week I get to show you the installation of the LED's in the Searchlight, Panzer interior, the Burn Barrel, after a suggestion from Michael, I added smoke to the barrel, and I honestly think its the best scale fire I've ever seen for a diorama!! Thanks Michael!!! Lastly I talk all about the Arduino. I hope you like the video, Take care, Bill.

    I like the little face on the side of the barrel, just the way some of the holes line up. So you could even use it as a mimic! Hehe

      Thanks John!!! I had a great time getting this just right and I love how it came out, I want to do another one without the barrel with people sitting around it. I dont have anything in mind yet, but it's one of those details I am just waiting for the right scene to do it again. Thanks again for commenting, Take care, Bill

    Mak a tiny fogger and pipe the smoke up through your burn barrel over the flickering led. It will look exactly like flame and smoke.

      I like that idea a lot!! I’ve seen Luke Towan’s video on making the smoke pot, but I didn’t really study it and need to watch it again. Thanks Peter!! Take care, Bill

    Great video! I'm in the process of building a stage diorama for heavy metal bands, with multicolour LED lighting rigs. I'm wondering whether the Arduino can run a program that will give the effect of a light show.

    • @ScaleModelCraft
      @ScaleModelCraft  Год назад +1

      Thanks Adapt &Prosper!! It sure can, but you would most likely need more than one for different things. You basically have a specific number of out puts, and voltages you can control, and depending on how much lighting and how many different routines you want to have, you can just add more arduino’s. I had help from my cousin programming the arduino code, but it’s not too difficult especially with all the samples they have on their website. Best of luck and I’d love to see how it turns out!! Take care, Bill

      Thanks R W!! I'm going to begin a new display for the Narvik diorama after my current project, and will build an extra fire barrel if you want it. I don't have a price for it yet, but will figure it out once I build it. No worries if you don't want to buy it then, its a great little piece I can use in future builds, but if you do want it then, that would be great too!! Take care, Bill

      @rwarts5150 2 года назад +2

      @@ScaleModelCraft that would be cool i could realistically pay $50 at max but I have problems believing the time effort and skills plus material going into just one awesome burn barrel is 3 × that or more 👍💯👍

    • @ScaleModelCraft
      @ScaleModelCraft  2 года назад +2

      @@rwarts5150 Hi RW, I'm thinking about using a flickering LED which would cut down the complexity, and no Arduino necessary. Thinking about it, the real crux of it all is the little carved acrylic piece, as that brings the fire into the wood, and subsequently the cotton smoke. A fully fleshed out barrel and all the stuff I did to it would be quite a bit higher, but let me see what it is after making another one with the flickering LED. Like I said, I'll use it at any rate so I think it will be a fun test, and you're not obligated to anything, I'm just thankful for the idea,😁 Thanks, Bill.

      @@ScaleModelCraft you got real skills with this type of art plus everything you put into it I wish I would have not gotten a job in a lumber mill at 16 and put all my energy into my art skills because after 30 years of 6 days a week mill work landscape wear house now im injured and all I have at the end is not all the money gave in taxes not disability yet despite being more than qualified but what I do have is my art skills I was born with just a little better then when I was 16 if I had spent 30 years refining my skills things would probably be much different but I'm not complaining just sharing among fellow artists 👍💯👍

    Very interesting this video . Like your work with the barrel . You find a nice solution . With the tank as well nice job . Great customing detail with the snapch bottle . But have to say you lost me during the arduino part ! Too technical for me . Best regards , Robert .

    • @ScaleModelCraft
      @ScaleModelCraft  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Robert!! Honestly, the Arduino is the part that took way more time than I expected, and from my days in the software industry... "if you can't explain it in simple terms, you don't understand it well enough!" which describes me perfectly at this point! It is in fact pretty simple, but there are some basic programming things that I am just not quite grasping that I think lots of younger people know intuitively, so I am trying to bridge that gap. The Arduino website is very helpful, and has great examples to follow, so I am continuing to learn and can hopefully come back later with a much better example, because it really does do what I want my lighting to do, and I would ultimately like people interested in it to take the plunge like I did. I think some actual downloadable examples from me might make it better, but thats got to come after I honestly know what I am doing. It's great to hear from you and I hope you are having a great weekend!! Bill.

    i would not suggest with this.. but on another piece of poly.. just move a lighter flame near it.. dont even lick it, just close.. just to see how it looks. i haven't tried it just had the idea watching your video. those little single pieces bug me on my smoke. i use my finger like you to kinda mush them in. got me thinking.. i might go to my desk and try. just to see what happens. looking good. now i got a couple more ideas... thanks.

      hey.. you got the resources an skills.. especially with the audrino.. how about a smoke machine using those RDA type coils from an electronic cig and a small tub with smoke oil in it.. your diorama is so nice.. that would really add to it.. that motion.. haha i can live vicariously though you!

      Thanks Michael!! I did see one of the little smoke machines on Luke Towan's channel, so I need to go back and check that out, its a couple years old. I do have an open line on the Arduino so I might be able to control it from that. Thanks again and nice to hear from you, Take Care, Bill.
