I have several Lenovo Tab 4 10 tablets and they have served me well. I paid less than $150 for each of them, catching them on sale. I have some LTE versions as well as WiFi. They have decent performance as they are used for streaming media, web browsing, email etc. I just bought the P10 as it was on sale for $149. I was pleasantly surprised by it. The screen is better, performance was also better than the others. It also upgraded to Android 9 which I didn't expect. Honestly I haven't used the dock or plan to. It definitely needs a case. I can recommend this tablet for those looking for an Android tablet if they catch it on sale. Of course I looked to see if you reviewed it and found this video. Thanks for that. Just my two cents. 💰
It sucks that the 8"-9" range is basically dead at this point in time. I have a KIndle Fire HDX 8.9" (2013) version whcih was pretty highend when it came out but is now having battery issues and the SD800 is shwoing its age as well. So far the only decent replacement I have been able to find is the Mediapad M5 8.4" and at this point its a couple of years old
I have the Lenovo Tab A 10" and had the Yoga 10" previously. I found both tablets to be a bit sluggish and wait time to boot up seemed longer than the Samsung line of tablets. When Amazon released its 10" Fire with hands free Alexa feature, I purchased it at a good price, bought a sturdy cover for it that stands nicely in my kitchen, and enjoy the fact that I can get recipes or watch videos from my Prime account at any time while working in the kitchen. Also connecting to Bluetooth comes in handy for me as well, so I can't justify buying this confused device by Lenovo when Amazon's 10" tablet with a sturdy cover works wonderfully and is probably less costly.
Thank you very much for your review! Knowing how slippery the back casing is and that putting a 3rd party protective case on that tablet would most likely be incompatible when it is docked is very informative! I actually bought a screen protector and carbon fiber skin for the P10 and based on your review I will at least apply the screen protector but not the skin for the glass casing so it won't interfere the dock connections. You stated performance wise it is not as fast as other tablets, is it slower than the current 9.7 inch iPad? In regards to touchscreen responsiveness, launching of applications, running multiple apps?
Great review couple of things though Alexa does work when it is not docked now in mine and also google assistant works even with alexa running really finding it great
Put some rubberized hand grips on the back of the PC. The docking portion is maybe the first inch up from the bottom. Anything above that shouldn't be a problem. I wonder if you were to use a dummy connector with the pogo plugs in the base if it would let you use the voice command & control from the base while the tablet is not docked? For these voice command and control PCs can you replace the command word from each with a single one like "Computer" or whatever call sign you want to use? More like the integrated controls like in the show Star Trek and Battle Star Galactica. Although in the Glen Larson version of Battlestar Galactica you had to hold a microphone to use voice dictation. Is it also possible to replace their native voice command & control software with something from a 3rd party like Dragon Naturally Speaking? That might eliminate the headaches of competing brands censoring each other's services and spying on you.
FYI the P10 has a brighter display and larger battery than the M10 model. I think the camera is better too iirc but tablet cameras are always poor. I think it's worth the extra money for the P10. Here in the UK you can buy them without the Dock. The 32GB M10 costs the same as a Fire HD10. I'd rather have the android os than fire os. Amazon have a habit of "blocking" useful apps (e.g kodi and HD homerun)
Hello, thanks for the video. I have a P10 and I'd like to know if the dock has illuminated buttons. i.e the volume up/down button. I cannot control the volume using the dock and am wondering if my device is defective or if I am not doing something correctly. Thanks in advance 😊
Good review. Nice combination. For the tablet. You can get a non-slip vinyl cover that just goes on just like a screen protector. Not sure of the name but I'm sure if you goggle it you will find it. Had the same problem with my iPad mini. Because it’s just a tape like product will work great with the dock.
What brand cameras were using for this review ("show back yard")? I have Ring cameras and can not get this feature to work, even with skill enabled. Any idea how to get it to work with Ring cameras? I also messaged Ring help desk, still waiting for a response. Thank you for the video.
Anne Uski Hi Anne thanks for that it's good to know he did not mention USB c headphones in the video just that the USB c port was a inny as in keyboarded and mouse 😃
I'm interested to know if the Alexa integration can be disabled. Also, were you able to test the microphone for video calls, docked or undocked? It has the potential to be purposed as a personal video conference device.
This video needs ipdate. It is possible to use Android apps when docking. There are several bugs I found sonse I got the M10 yesterday. First is photo display is not available. The screen lock, unlike Echo Shows.
I hope you realize that any Amazon device will not let you go directly into You Tube. On the Echo Show you have to go to Google, then Firefox then You Tube. The consumer should not have to deal with Amazon's fight with Google. Amazon's OS is proprietary and sucks. Also having to scroll up all the time instead of having apps on the screen is a pain in the ass. This is why I also have an Ipad. I have a Fire tablet as well but it is horrible. Tried to add an sd card and its cheap door broke when I opened it. I did videos on it and only managed to publish them to You Tube by using Amazon photos and I was only able to do that once I bought an Echo show. There was no easy way to upload them to my Imac or transfer them to it and then to You Tube. If it had not been given to me as a gift, I would never have bought one.
Hey it's a awesome piece of kit been told many times.. I've recently come into a problem it keeps disconnecting from the dock for no reason is there a fix for this
Is there some function that makes the p10 louder for both on the ears and standalone speakers... Went to the atmos func part but no further volume could be raised?

Did you know that every presenter that's reviewed this item has missed out one important thing, the dock does not have speaker output, how is it everyone has missed that???????
The dock has 4 front-facing speakers with Dolby Atmos at 3 watts and 3 far-field speakers for voice-recognition from a distance. The sound is a good quality, but the bass is not as strong as on other Smart Displays. However, this is a mid-end product that provides a full Android suite with an Alexa assistant overlay when docked. For the cost, it's benefits outweigh it's few setbacks.
One of the worst purchases Ive ever made. Disappointing after wonderful experiences with lenovo laptops. The only device in the house that will rarely pick up wifi anywhere, apps frequently dont open, screen doesnt always respond when touched, wont dock with speaker, files take an age to download from email, wont change screen orientation, and the glass back is slippy, making you wary of dropping it.
Alexa really demonstrates the Dark Side of Amazon. They are really shameless about trying to make Alexa an inescapable Amazon-only virtual shopping mall, and their voice tech is still not really as good as Google's. What Android version is on this device? If you pop the tab into the base and THEN use the screen to take it out of Alexa mode, will it stay in Android mode and let you use it like a Google Home device?
The Dockingstation is Trash and keeps disconnecting after the new firmware update! Useless product! And its really glitchy and slow in apps like yt and netflix
Honestly buying an Android tablet nowadays is just asking for trouble. Maybe cheap ones good for kids, but no adult should be buying these things for general purpose. Just get an iPad or Apple Home/Echo Show. You'll get a much better user experience.
I have had an Ipad Air 2 I28 Meg for 3 years & other than my dropping it and breaking the glass & then having the home button stop working ( which I think was because it hit the ground too hard when the glass broke ) it has worked fine. Putting the home button over the charging port was idiotic. The broken home button presses down on the charging port and if not fixed will result in the charging port not being able to accept a charge.

Yes I have the same frustration when this is docked.
In the Engadget review, the reviewer demonstrated using Alexa to bring up the RUclips App, so obviously that has been fixed.
Great to see there's a work around
Thanks for covering this, Lon, though it's so odd that manufacturers don't make more higher-end Android tablets. It's so sad.

Is this the only one recently with a glass back? Interesting choice. And a surprise there isn’t wireless charging.
Can this tablet play Netflix at HD 1080P???
Or it doesn't have the certification like some of those One Plus phones..
