The A/B class while absolutely awful to work on saved my families lives. The engine etc is at 19deg and the car has basically two floors. Engine/gearbox go under the car in cash. Drunk lady in a VW Towrag drove directly into them at speed. One destroyed A-class but alive wife and kids.
The car has many remarkable features. Safety of the B-Class is why we bought it for our son Robin about 2 years ago. Sad that Mercedes did not get as rich as they planned and stopped production. Christian
This shows how intricate (and hard to repair) modern cars have become. My son's 2008 Passat is in a similar state with a leaky tandem pump. Worth $5k, maybe and $3k to fix. My third attempt with new bolts and a new gasket, other wise......It is a lovely car, paint in top condition, upholstery excellent. Be a shame to dispose of it.
Well I have my weekly fix of LR Time with Vera and Christian....the humour is additive...that is why I watch every Sunday.. Many thanks to the perfect TEAM..
Hi all, talking about high mileage engines, I once had a MK2 Sierra 1800 CVH engine used as a minicab (unlicensed Taxi at that time) that done 300.000 Miles not Ks. like all my Cabs I had a strict routine of oil changes every 5000 miles. But came every 5 weeks. lol Was before synthetics so I used Castrol GTX. I sold the car at 300.000 but it still ran like new, almost. One of Fords better engines of Its time. Anyway, thanks for the "Merc" video all.
Again, a great video, this time with probably the best maintained early model B class as the star of this episode. When i see this type of collaboration between parents and their son, that't quality time together well spend. Robin is the silent type, but also a talented hard working guy. Makes a parent proud... Great (classic) remarks where made during this weekend, no Toyota was harmed...
Harbor Freight super slim ratchet is a wonderful tool. On my last visit to the USA I bought 10 of them to bring back to New Zealand for friebds some od whom have their own garages. Great video guys always look forward to Sunday night here in NZ to watch you guys.
Thanks for showing how complicated a Mercedes B class is to repair. Nice to see something other than a Land Rover product. Given what you said about dealer prices to repair this, how much did you spend? You have replaced seals which a dealer would not. 😀😀👍👍
I cannot remember the last time I have had so much enjoyment/fun watching a car repair video. The supervision and technical narration was second to none. Why can’t ALL car repair videos be like this? met a mechanic from MB who said ever since the vans came out, it was a nightmare for MB as people were buying entry level product and first time in the shop they get price shock and end up turning them back in. Lots of reflashes on the late model diesels also. On Transmission reinstall, use a long starter bolt with head cut off, so you get the bolt to screw in a top bolt hole and you can set the trans on the bolt and slide it into place, Making sure as you did with cleaning surfaces is important as many times the ground cable connects on the transmission, so you want no corrosion throughout the engine compartment. especially on aluminum to steel points
