Hahahaha
So very true. The ignorance of the public for those DC treasures is, in fact, a blessing for us collectors.
This explains a lot... DC better than Marvel?! Swamp Thing better than FF/Galactus/SS?! That's absolutely crazy talk.
I'm not a dc or marvel guy. But dc has always had way better writing than marvel. That's what he's saying. And most marvel characters are knockoffs of dc superheroes. Swamp thing writing is great. Dc just does more mature and better stories than marvel. Look at vertigo line with preacher ,sandman, constatine ect... or things like watchmen. It's not close. And I love marvel so not hating.
Solid contradictory logic...
Beginning of video: don't buy the 1st appearance of silver surfer because speculation has made the value volatile. Don't buy books based on MCU movies.
End of video: I'm going to continue to buy DC based on speculation because they are coming out with movies that are directed by Gunn...
collect what you love & you'll have less regrets if they drop in value
Great analysis. I’ve been collecting DC comics since 1961 and even then I realized they were written for a more mature audience than Marvel.
Having such good sci-fi writers like Gardener Fox doing the Flash, man a science education once a month!
Yea as a kid in the 60's, I saw Batman as a science lesson, especially his utility belt? 😂
Im a Charlton man myself ,billy the kid is one my favorites 💪💪💪
100% agree ! Also DC much smaller print runs and inherently rarer than Marvel in the Silver and Bronze Ages.
Much smaller? Not sure about that.
@@WarriorsforInfoTV Check out the graded census counts
That has definitely not been my experience.
I want to see a "Kamandi" movie. That is a DC Kirby bronze age comic I liked as a kid. I thought Jack Kirby created a far more fantastic World (after the Great Disaster) than the "Planet of the Apes" films had. If that movie does well.... they can do the prequel to Kamandi, "OMAC - One Man Army Corps". They have the technology now to make these films.
Kamandi #1 was the first comic I ever got from the spinner rack! I was 4 years old.
Agreed - Mister Miracle and all the Fourth World characters, Big Barda, etc. 😎👍
After Aquaman and Blue Beetle hard to have any faith in DC movies, James Gunn or for heaven's sake Tom King. Maybe he can write a good movie, but I am not convinced that he or james Gunn will do anything other make everything DC a dark comedy or an overwrought tragedy. I'm good with the books, but the movies have just been wastes of time and money lately.
1st comic I got my hands on as a kid was somewhere around 1965. Visually I was always attracted to the DC books( the Marvel artwork looked inferior to me). The colors and presentation was more impressive.I remember Marvel books with chipping ,missing staples, etc. when the books were brand new.I always had 3 or 4 DCs to every Marvel book as a kid .From the early 70s to the late 80s I didn’t buy many comics (sex, drugs, and rock n roll got in the way). When I came back to the hobby in the 90s most of the comic dealers were telling me the silver DCs were rarer and to pick up as many as I could because they were undervalued.I paid 9 dollars for a v g Batman 181 around 1999 or 2000.Still have it and many other examples of cheap DCs that are now worth anywhere from 10 to 50 times what I paid for them. Too bad there wasn’t a Sticky Goose back then to spread the word.
Silver age MAD magazines, is where it's at. Get hip.
Very true DC is definitely the way to right now… but I wouldn’t invest too much money in DC books. I don’t trust Warner Brothers just as much as I don’t trust Disney with marvel right now. They could easily get in the way and screw this up for DC
Dude I hear you on this DC stuff man. I've been getting into DC here in the past 6 months and man I found so many cool stories and cool books that just are flying under the radar man
Shhhh stop causing fomo on DC dude!!!
The speculators are popping around, like spit on a hot griddle. People are getting twitchy. You've gotta love it.
Interesting comments - hey what are those comics on your wall behind you and what are those plastic statues from?
You do have to remember back in the 60s and 70s comics were written for 10 years and up . Ill take the stan Lee / KIRBY ANY DAY OVER MOST OF DC....yes I do love Kamandi also
There are a few marvel runs that are great writing. Frank millers run on daredevil and wolverine limited are all time great.
Thx for the pitch... But like you said, most of the Golden age DC books are out of reach
I agree 100%
Agreed!... Brave and the Bold #25, 1st Suicide Squad, is another good one. Only 340 on census and from 1959!... and not that expensive.
What do you think about getting books of DC’s rarely used characters? I picked up Agent Liberty Special #1 during FCBD out of a dollar bin.
2 years ago I was telling my friend to do the same. He didn't listen... Now, everyday I watch Marvel keys fall in value while DC keys rise. Glad I was on top of it.
DC will just end up falling again. Characters are lame
@@kingtide1947 They do rise and fall. As does all things. But retention is key, pun intended. "DC characters are lame", lolol...
Let Me school U quick.
Batman is the original hero who swung through cities saving people and stopping crime (see Detective Comics #27). Not Spider-Man. Batman is also a regular dude, not someone mutated by a "radio active spider", lolol. Childs fare..
Superman is just everything Captain 'Murica wish he could be. Plus an alien humanoid still more believable than a black budget military Frankenstein, and if not is just more fantastical.
There isn't a Woman in Marvel that can hold a candle to Wonder Woman. Mystique is cool though...
Hulk is nothing more than a clone of Solomon Grundy. Hulk was originally gray and the "Grundy Crush" became the "Hulk Smash".
Iron Man is cool but Cyborgs' tech would hack his suit that probably runs on windows and fly him into a mountain. Not even close.
In the end, they both, Marvel and DC, have their pros and cons. But as someone who grew up in the 80's collecting and still does,
someone who came in as a spiderman /Marvel fan, I grew up. Marvel has always seemed very child like to me. And most adults I know feel the same. They would like for Marvel to be more consistent in that aspect, but they have been everything but. Thats just how it presents.
Am I saying Marvel has nothing in that way, absolutely not, simply that DC does it better and always has.
Its okay to like Marvel if thats your thing. But to just be arrogantly dismissive to something U may know little about or simply because of preference and without anything to support such a claim is, in the least unbecoming.
Yeeeesss master.. I will do as you say mmmaster Goose… your loyal servant will obey… I must return to my dwelling under the basement stairs now master… with your permission oh all powerful and benevolent master Goose. There I will use my Marvel keys to wipe my rear-end since I must do #2’s under the stairs since mmmaster Goose won’t let me out to use a bathroom.
Just as long as we are on the same page
@@Stickygoose decent pun
I agree, now is a good time to buy some DC comics but I'd be careful if investment is the primary reason. There are some DC keys that feel super hot atm (Including House of Secrets 92, and many Batman keys like 232, 251, etc.)
If you love a certain DC story or comic go for it! But when it comes to paying up for any comic make sure it's a comic you love AND is either at a good price for you or has legs as an investment.
The more reasons you have to make a big purchase, the more you'll feel justified in making those purchases.
2:54 all true. Supposing the next Ghost Rider movie was a smash Hit- that really shouldn't bring up the value of Ghost Rider number one should it?
Another dc book way undervalued is books like brave and the bold 25. First rick flagg and suicide squad. 1959. Insanely hard in a grade over 5.0. I been looking for one over 7.0 and i cant find one for sale in the last 3 years.
It’s a good call SG, but I am addicted to Marvel!
I got authority 1 cgc 9.8 and few others I’ve been grading. I got some DC universe logo great books
Silver surfer is much more popular than swamp thing. Most people don’t know swamp thing
As much as I love it as a comic fan
People near my age, will recognize Swamp Thing, before The Silver Surfer, based on the movies alone. Fact. Heather Locklear was no joke, and neither was Adrienne Barbeau. The power of "P" compels you.
@@Geoffreydarcy-pv4mqstop it. You're cracking me up
Good advice 😎👍🏻
I typically prefer dc stories but marvel has a few gems every now and then
DC for life
the coolest thing about ff4 is doom
Current run of FF is very corny unfortunately. Nothing interesting…. Agree about FF as much as it pains me.
I’m seeing a lot of Marvel in that room for someone trying to say they are a bigger fan of DC 😂
Yea and then he did the thing with the egg!? Disappeared, he said 😂 we know where he put it though. Don’t let that mans fool you again, check first, okay? Or the yolk is on you..
*oops wrong place to post this. This is a Sticky vid. Also, buy original art, sketch covers, and signatures for the right price, if you are into those things. I love the original art stuff.
Perfect example of a rookie who doesn't know much, but thinks he knows a lot because of his sub count. But at least you are trying and consistent.
Too many marvel fanboys are missing the point. In 2021 marvel was insanely hot and comics were going crazy. The dc books didnt go nutz and held their value till this day. And are undervalued now compared. Once the swamp thing movie hits house of secrets is going nuclear.
Ha.ha. I love your humour. Pretty much all of your wall books and your omnibus are marvel. For someone who loves dc so much you do little to promote it. Still each to their own I suppose.
Unspoken truth: Nobody likes the Fantastic Four. They're boring. All of the big FF keys (aside from #1) are due to the introduction of other popular characters (Silver Surfer, Doctor Doom, Black Panther, et al).
There's a reason why non-key FF books (even Silver Age) are such slow movers.
Nobody ?

As a silver age kid who loved Jack Kirby's art, I would agree that the FF would be difficult to convert to the big screen, but they were far from boring as a silver age kid back in the day.
As a long time Silver Age member of the Merry Marvel Marching Society, I say baloney.
Agreed. Marvel fan all the way.
The longer you wait, the cheaper the books will get.
It's the humidity.
Personally, while I respect DC for being the first, I'm more into Marvel's stories more. Believe it or not, their stories are equally as dark as they feature the heroes and villains be the losers in an ongoing external and internal war.
