I'm not a dc or marvel guy. But dc has always had way better writing than marvel. That's what he's saying. And most marvel characters are knockoffs of dc superheroes. Swamp thing writing is great. Dc just does more mature and better stories than marvel. Look at vertigo line with preacher ,sandman, constatine ect... or things like watchmen. It's not close. And I love marvel so not hating.

    Solid contradictory logic...
Beginning of video: don't buy the 1st appearance of silver surfer because speculation has made the value volatile. Don't buy books based on MCU movies.
End of video: I'm going to continue to buy DC based on speculation because they are coming out with movies that are directed by Gunn...

Great analysis. I’ve been collecting DC comics since 1961 and even then I realized they were written for a more mature audience than Marvel.

I want to see a "Kamandi" movie. That is a DC Kirby bronze age comic I liked as a kid. I thought Jack Kirby created a far more fantastic World (after the Great Disaster) than the "Planet of the Apes" films had. If that movie does well.... they can do the prequel to Kamandi, "OMAC - One Man Army Corps". They have the technology now to make these films.

After Aquaman and Blue Beetle hard to have any faith in DC movies, James Gunn or for heaven's sake Tom King. Maybe he can write a good movie, but I am not convinced that he or james Gunn will do anything other make everything DC a dark comedy or an overwrought tragedy. I'm good with the books, but the movies have just been wastes of time and money lately.

1st comic I got my hands on as a kid was somewhere around 1965. Visually I was always attracted to the DC books( the Marvel artwork looked inferior to me). The colors and presentation was more impressive.I remember Marvel books with chipping ,missing staples, etc. when the books were brand new.I always had 3 or 4 DCs to every Marvel book as a kid .From the early 70s to the late 80s I didn’t buy many comics (sex, drugs, and rock n roll got in the way). When I came back to the hobby in the 90s most of the comic dealers were telling me the silver DCs were rarer and to pick up as many as I could because they were undervalued.I paid 9 dollars for a v g Batman 181 around 1999 or 2000.Still have it and many other examples of cheap DCs that are now worth anywhere from 10 to 50 times what I paid for them. Too bad there wasn’t a Sticky Goose back then to spread the word.

    • @madvizion742
      @madvizion742 2 месяца назад +5

@@kingtide1947 They do rise and fall. As does all things. But retention is key, pun intended. "DC characters are lame", lolol...
      Let Me school U quick.
Batman is the original hero who swung through cities saving people and stopping crime (see Detective Comics #27). Not Spider-Man. Batman is also a regular dude, not someone mutated by a "radio active spider", lolol. Childs fare..
Superman is just everything Captain 'Murica wish he could be. Plus an alien humanoid still more believable than a black budget military Frankenstein, and if not is just more fantastical.
There isn't a Woman in Marvel that can hold a candle to Wonder Woman. Mystique is cool though...
Hulk is nothing more than a clone of Solomon Grundy. Hulk was originally gray and the "Grundy Crush" became the "Hulk Smash".
Iron Man is cool but Cyborgs' tech would hack his suit that probably runs on windows and fly him into a mountain. Not even close.
In the end, they both, Marvel and DC, have their pros and cons. But as someone who grew up in the 80's collecting and still does,
someone who came in as a spiderman /Marvel fan, I grew up. Marvel has always seemed very child like to me. And most adults I know feel the same. They would like for Marvel to be more consistent in that aspect, but they have been everything but. Thats just how it presents.
Am I saying Marvel has nothing in that way, absolutely not, simply that DC does it better and always has.
Its okay to like Marvel if thats your thing. But to just be arrogantly dismissive to something U may know little about or simply because of preference and without anything to support such a claim is, in the least unbecoming.

I agree, now is a good time to buy some DC comics but I'd be careful if investment is the primary reason. There are some DC keys that feel super hot atm (Including House of Secrets 92, and many Batman keys like 232, 251, etc.)
If you love a certain DC story or comic go for it! But when it comes to paying up for any comic make sure it's a comic you love AND is either at a good price for you or has legs as an investment.
The more reasons you have to make a big purchase, the more you'll feel justified in making those purchases.

Unspoken truth: Nobody likes the Fantastic Four. They're boring. All of the big FF keys (aside from #1) are due to the introduction of other popular characters (Silver Surfer, Doctor Doom, Black Panther, et al).

Personally, while I respect DC for being the first, I'm more into Marvel's stories more. Believe it or not, their stories are equally as dark as they feature the heroes and villains be the losers in an ongoing external and internal war.
    I mean:
    Spider-Man:
    Amazing Fantasy
    If This Be My Destiny
    Green Goblin Unmasked
    The Night Gwen Stacy Died
    No More
    Venom
    Blue

The Story of Him visiting a sick kid fan
    Kraven's Last Hunt
    Harry Osborn's Death
    Maximum Carnage
    TASM Annual #1
    Ultimate Spider-Man
    Happy Birthday Saga
    X-Men:
    Old Man Logan
    Wolverine
    God Loves, Man Kills
    Days of Future Past
    Ultimate X-Men
    Dark Phoenix
    OG Phoenix
    Age of Apocalypse
    Gold and Blue
    New X-Men
    Magneto's Testament
    Second Coming
    House of M
    Astonishing X-Men
    Hulk:
    TIH: #1-6
    Hulk: Gray
    Dear Betty/Always on my Mind
    The Lone and Level Sands
    The End
    The Rampaging Hulk
    Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine
    The Immortal Hulk
    Planet Hulk
    World War Hulk
    Captain America:
    Golden Age
    Winter Soldier
    Avengers:
    #1-#5
    The Ultimates 1 and 2
    Kang Dynasty
    Kree/Skrull War
    Civil War
    Infinity Gauntlet and War
    Fantastic Four:
    #1
    Galactus
    Silver Surfer
